They called to confirm a repair appointment. You'd think Verizon of all companies would NOT use a CallID blocker!

This is the phone number of the automated message system from Verizon Fios. You will receive calls from this number if you requested a repair. If you are repeatedly receiving calls from this number, call customer service at 1-800-870-9999. This is just a glitch in the system that they can fix.

I got two calls from this number today, I am NOT a verizon customer. No message from caller.

I got a call from this number--it was just Verizon leaving an automatic message to confirm my repair appointment for tomorrow.

Verizon calling to follow up on a tech support call from last night.  Automated message left on my voice mail.

Received a call from this number, picked up and no one answered.

Same experience everyone else is having. Got a call from this number twice today, the first time was at 9:02am and the second time was at 10:33am did not know who it was so I didn't answer. When I called back, the automated message said that the phone line was not in service or been disconnected.

got this call just now from this number, missed the call..they DID leave a message and it WAS verizon cause we have a repair order on tuesday.

nothing to freak out about, just one of those numbers that do not allow incoming calls, there's lots of them especially with big business customer support.

It's an automated call from Verizon -- they left me a voicemail message confirming my Verizon repair appointment.

I received a call from this number on my cell phone.  I answered, noone spoke.  I just heard what sounded like someone plucking a banjo.

Just got a call on my cell.  It was a recorded message from Verizon to confirm a repair appointment for tomorrow.  Should be interesting since I never called them for service and my land line is fine.  Can't see them coming to repair the cell  lol

This is an automated call from Verizon so you can confirm or cancel an appointment for service.  You have to press 1 to confirm the appointment and do have the option to cancel it.  I would take the call because if you don't confirm, they may not come.  Thanks for all the input, otherwise, I would have continued to ignore this call and wouldn't have gotten my service!

I just had verizon at my house yesterday, and then I got a call from this number today at 12:30, they didn't leave a message, and I didn't call back

I just read your posts and Verizon makes sense. I just e-mailed for a repair appointment today so I think that's all it is. I didn't answer either because I didn't recognize the number

I received a call from this number on my cell phone about 8pm at night.I called the number and the operator said it was disconnected.I called the Verizon operator who told me it was a Verizon Land line from Madison, New Jersey. That was all she could determine. Made sure it was noted, so I would not get any unnecessary charges on my wireless phone bill.

CONFIRMED!!! This # 973-443-2421 is Verizon. They just called me again today, 7/29/08 at 12:02pm to confirm my scheduled installation appointment for tomorrow morning!

I have also received a call from this # several times over the last 2 days. No one left a voice message and when I tried calling the # back it said that I reached a # that is not working and/or disconnected. Yes, I believe that it's Verizon calling to confirm an installation appointment that I have which is scheduled for tomorrow, 7/30/08. It makes sense now. I will repost a message confirming whether or not it is Verizon after I speak with them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. . .

I received a call from 973-443-2421 on 7-23-08.  This number is unknown to me so I did not answer. I received this call on my cell number.

I just got a call from # 973-443-2421 and it is Verizon calling to either 1) confirm your service appointment or 2) to confirm the work was done and you are satisfied with it.  If you really are not sure do not be afraid to call Verizon to confirm it was an automated call coming from them.  If it was not from them they would like to know.

ANY call can be caller ID spoofed - that is the caller ID can be set to say anything the caller wants. There are several web sites offering this service. It's a common practive for bill collectors to spoof a caller ID, especially if you have an anonymous call block on your phone.

Missed a call from this number and when I tried to call back, same as everyone else. "I'm sorry the number that you have called has been disconnected".

I think the others are correct that this is verizon.  I was at my mom's and reported her phone not working, and gave my cell phone number as a contact number when service was available. Like others, I did not recognize the number so I didn't answer it and when I called back it said it was disconnected.  I bet it was the verizon people calling to confirm that they are coming out to my mom's house for a service call.

This is verizon phone service dept calling to remind me of the request for repair and that they were still coming.
