what steps did you take i got the same phone call

I received a phone call about the same thing. They have apparently changed the number at this point because it comes through as 973-915-7737. You can call this number back as I have done so several times and it is always indian. He left a message on my phone so I have proof of what was going on, had the majority of my information and just spouted it off to me without me even confirming who I was. When I told him I wasn't confirming any of my information because no real law firm would ask for that kind of information he asked me if I spoke english because he was going to have me sent to jail for something I never did. FYI in the United States you CAN NOT go to jail for owing a debt again proof that this is a fraudulent phone call as any real lawyer in the United States would know this information, not to mention no lawyer would make a mistake of threatening a person with actions they can not follow through on. I have reported this to my local police department, changed my bank account and am in the process of fighting for a new social security number which contrary to popular belief you can get if you can prove there was fraudulent activity in your name and ssn or if there is proof of identity theft.

Everyone posting on this thread I assume has tried to apply for some payday loan in the past 1-60 days or something similar. What happened was you were linked into a website that was masking a legitmate one. In my case money mutal. Money mutual is 1 of 4 the payday loan websites that is backed by the Better Business Buereu in the US. If you did a google search for Money Mutual and clicked on a sponsored ad that one these scammers are paying for. It brings you into the money mutual website however; something very minor is differnt in the web adress could be a / or - just enough to make the domain name look legit. You would have to look really hard to ever tell the difference. So you proceed to enter all your personal info thinking you are on a legitimate website for pay day loans like I did. It goes through the normal process says your approved and bam the Scam is complete. You probaly right after this now receive hundred of spam emails and multiple calls from various companies saying you been approved and blah blah blah. Now back to the indian f****r that said he was going to beat the s*** out of me. I got a call from this guy today AT MY WORK. Somehow had my work number directly to my desk. First thing he said was that this is Brad with John Wilks and Associates or some b***s***. Them said is the my name and your social security number than proceeded to read out my full social security number. So imeaditly raised a red flag so I simply replied no that is not my social security number. Than I started asking questions. Who is this? Why are you calling me at work? What do I owe you money for? I asked all those question rather quickly than his response was "Bi*** I will come over to America and beat your a** for talking to me like that" So bam got him! This whole call is BS and a scam. Scary thing is he has all my personal info and there is nothing you can do about it. All you can do is contact the 3 credit bureaus and have them put a hold on your social. This will prevent them from opening any unwanted accounts and identity theft. You will be in for the long haul though for next month or two. They will continue to call you work and home and theaten you . Just wait it out and do not answer. MOST OF ALL DO NOT ENTER YOUR SOCIAL ON ANY WEBSITE UNLESS YOU KNOW ITS LEGIT!

i applied online for pay day advance he didnt say his name but had an indian accent...said ill go to jail for 3 years and get fired from my job..knew my address and social...im like uh i didnt do anything lol and he was rude and yelling at me like wtf you are not about to get money always calling so i blocked the number

THIS MAN WHO CANNOT EVEN SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH CALLS AND SAYS I AM GOING TO BE TERMINATED AND POLICE ARE GOING TO ARREST ME AND PUT ME BEHIND BARS.  I COULDN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND HIS NAME AND HE WISHED ME LUCK IF I DIDN'T CALL BACK ALSO

THIS INDIAN GUY KEEPS CALLING MY PHONE LEAVING MESSAGE ABOUT LOSSING MY JOB..POLICE WILL BE COMING TO GET ME AND WISH ME LUCK IF DIDNT CALL BACK

The same guy has called my phones several times for the last year and everytime its a new number that he called me on. If there is anything i can do please let me know.

Recieved call from 973-805-1068   the calle   had  an indian accent  said his name  was officerShawn Marks      also these numbers  are related to the  same  scam   585-204-6000, and 302-387-0024   trying to get  money   claiming  you owe  for a payday  loan  when  I told this guy  that  bank statements  will prove  I never recieved any thing  he  still insisted  so I hung  up  and  told him to never  call again  I also have  spoken with attorney about these  threats  that  theses people make  and  if  continues  I will take  some action   Why  can't these people get legitimate  jobs

I also was being bothered by this call,and threat me to be fire from my job and will be pick up by police yesterday as we speak if i will not pay my 500 dollar Cash Advance..I listen to him,at first i am so sacred but knowing that i have no cash advance of 500 is a relief,but what if somebody is using my sss number?,but then he got most of my information right.I just then go on talking until i proved myself right that it is a scam.He told me to pay by Western Union under the name of Robert Kurn,Head of Cash Advance.And he said he is Eric Williams of Marshall & Associates based in NJ.But when i call Marshall & Associates,they have no office in NJ and that they have no employee by such name and that they are not a collection firm.Today,they already called me four times,but i did not anymore answer them.Wish our authority can put a stop to this..

I had the same problem everyone eles has,  We began calling them back about 15 times and requesting information,   If you do it from another number then they dont know who is calling them.  My husband Called them repeatedly to get information,  the address they use is 900 Clifton Ave New Jersey, Its a actual city Hall.  He proceeded to speak with the police there and letting them know, they are using their address.  Lets hope this stops soon.

yes he call me to and really scared me about something federal he told me if u dont pay a call the police and u go to be suspended for your job i send some money the first time but he call me today again and i look for some info on the internet and i saw all that message when he call me back again im asking for some internet page and all that stuff and he go so rude noooo never call me back dont send more money y go to call de PD in your city

Got a call from Ben Gates who says he is from the Attorney General office regarding check fraud and that a fax would be sent from the attorney general office which never came.  This guy is from a collection agency.....

Did the issue ever get resolved?  Did they stop calling you?  What actions did you take?

I got the same phone call from this guy named Benjamin Gates.......Yes....same name as in National Treasure!  He called me telling me that he worked at a Marshall Law Firm and his number was 973-805-1068.  Said that I received $300.00 from some Cash Advance or Cash Advanced.  He treated me telling me that I was being sued and would receive a letter in the mail.  Threated me by telling me that he already contacted the PD where I live and that I was going to be fired from my JOB.  I do believe now that this guy is a scam artist and GMA or nightline need to know about this.  I filed a police report of harassment against this guy and have contacted the BBB of New Jersey.  We all need to do something about this guy.  Maybe if they get enough complaints he will get caught.  How many more poor old men and women need to be victimized by this guy.

Received 2 calls from this guy, I could not understand a word he was saying.    I wish they would stop calling already.   I told him never to call back this was a scam

call my girlfriend, claimed he was going to get her fired and file several lawsuits against her if she did not pay within two hours.  i called back and began screaming at him because i read these posts.  he said that his job is "f*** over america".  this is clearly a scam, do not give this man anything and try try to protect your identity any way you can.

Sane indian dude left message on my phone saying he had my social and had three pending federal investigations, told me to have my lawyer call him warrents out for my arrest  blah blah

WTF

Yea I just got a call form this guy too... Scary the hell out of me. Talking about they depost money in a close account and I been money laundering...I owe them money,and I will go to jail today ( warrent issue today) if I did not pay them back.. Scam!!! These people are crazy..........

I got the same call everyday about this guy from India. Same issue he's threatening me saying I owe them money and they deposited already to my bank. I would say they got our information online when I applied for personal loan. and started then they keep calling me. I ignore their calls all the time. But I would do the same police report. Eventually they will get caught. And its not only one person a lot of them same voices from India SCAM!! NEVER entertain them.

just got a call from this same number. 973-805-1068, on behalf of some attorneys office saying that they deposited money(a check advance) into my account that I failed to pay back, and that they were going to have me fired from my job, and arrested. when i asked them who the hell he was he cursed me out said he's sending me to jail. just called the cops and filed a report.

some indian f---er keeps calling my phone and claims that they deposited money into my account and there has been no deposite into my account at all ....

I got a call from this number very rude Indian accent person. Claims I owe money to them and they are suing me. Calling my job repeatedly. Have called FTC, Attorney General, and local police. They just told me to ignore it and not give them a information.

I just received a call from an Indian man, and he knew my social and where I work. He called me a f****ng bi*** then hung up. The number doesn't accept inbound calls.
