I received a call from this number before 10 a.m. on a Sunday morning!!  Tried to call back to tell them I was on the "do not call list" and had an unlisted number.  Their number was "not available"  Ridiculous, annoying and should be illegal!  STOP!!!

I get calls from this number at least twice a day, they always hang up.  They come from somewhere in New Jersey.  So much for the Do Not Call program.

I to keep getting calls from this number at least 5 times a day i let answering machine kick in and they hung up this is really getting out of control.Im on the DO NOT CALL LIST.Just comes up NEW JERSEY

We get several calls a day from the unknown caller.  They hang up before the answering machine picks up.  If I pick up phone and hang up, they call back several times in a row.  Very frustrating that this caller has our number and it has become more like harassment!

Just got a hang up call from this number on Sunday at 9:00am.
Tried to call back, but said the line was disconnected.

This started as a private private 0n our caller ID. We blocked all privates and now we are getting calls from this number. Can anybody HELP US?????

This number has called a few times to RI. I don't answer the phone to unknown numbers outside of the state. We get so many calls from people wanting money it's so maddening! Please Verizon make them stop.

What do they get out of this? How can we stop it?

Stop the call, I do not know anybody from NJ

I am getting phone call from this telephone.  They call and no body answres.  I do not wnat no more calls.

I have been getting phone call from this telephone,  I do want this to stop.  I do not know anybody who live in NJ.

This number calls up to 4 times a day, sometimes more, even on Sunday, and nobody ever speaks.

It is a disconnected number.

Verizon just shrugs.  

Sometimes, I answer it and leave it by something making noise, just to ensure that whoever it is gets a huge long distance phone bill.

I just got a phone call from that number and a lady ask for me by name....It's the first time I answer a call from that number, although they have called several times before...I just said wrong number and the lady hung up, the caller ID says New Jersey...She couldn't even pronounce my name right, I thought It was suspicious, but I wish I knew who is making these calls.

Just got another call. last time i talked to a person and did not get a hang up, it was for fireman training. This time it was for women and children with cancer.  This number is cancer. I'm sure I'll get another hang up soon.  LOL

Same here. They call and hang up. What is the point of a bogus charity if they don't ask for anything. Creepy.

We've been getting up to three calls per day from that number since just after Christmas.  I've tried to be quick on the draw and answer before the auto-dialer hangs up but all I ever get is a couple seconds of silence followed by a few clicks, a little more silence and then a dial tone.

I'm too cheap to pay for a detailed report but I found out the phone is registered inside a New Jersey wildlife and game refuge.  The NJ state Fish and Wildlife department doesn't know anything about it.

Maybe if we ignore it, it'll go away.  This kind of telemarketing company doesn't usually stay in business more than a few weeks.

Still getting calls from this number in 2012. It's still a bogus charity. Don't give any information.

Officer; I live in Yardley, PA (Lower Makefield Twp) and am working with LMPD (Detective Campbell) and Verizon to trace these calls - my wife and I have been getting them for months now.  Did you ever have any further luck with your research?

There was a warning out that inmates will claim they are with a police "organization" and are requesting donations.  They are seeking credit card information for an immediate over-the-phone donation.  As far as the hang ups, I heard years ago, glitches in the phone system made it possible to piggy back on someones line, esentially you are made to believe they hung up and then once you do, they are able to make calls off of your carrier, which you would not notice if you have free long distance.  I can't verify this but I do know that it does make sense to some degree:  If you do not properly log out of an online account, anyone who is looking for a backdoor into your system can easily piggy back you to get to your hard drive.

Gotten several calls this week from this number and all they do is hang up.  Starting to get very upset. How can you stop it, if you can at all?

Got another call today. Same number. This time it was from someone soliciting for breast cancer donations. I repeatedly told them if they mail me information, I would consider a donation, and that I don't do donations over the phone. They wouldn't. I hung up.

I just found this too. "Charity Navigator" labels it as a bogus charity.

I've been receiving the same calls and hangups for a few weeks. Same thing, I pick up, they hang up.  Just now (5/9/09) they called again. I picked up but did not say hello. Amazingly, they did not hang up and asked for me by name? They said they were from the NJ Police Athletic League looking for donations. Ironically, I am a cop and I told them that and that I do various things to benefit the things my PD does.

I checked the NJ Charitable database and did not find them registered (individual PAL's are but I did not find them). I also think it's suspect that anything associtated with police would use a number and tactics like this. I did find a website for the NJ Pal, however being a Saturday, no one was there. I'll call them Monday to see if this was really from them and if so, I'll pass on what they've been doing to people.  Hope this helps!
