March 23rd 2014 ~ PM SUNDAY evening at 6:00 pm - my phone rang and i rejected it - the 999 prefix somehow did not sit well with me, so i rejected the call and did this research here on these pages - NOW i see that it is almost certain to be a BOGUS caller OF SOME-SORT? what get's me up is that it was a SUNDAY EVENING (when many of us are on our own-time and relaxing, not expecting a telephone call interruption) and an un-solicited caller! AT 6:00 pm ALMOST EXACTLY! - what gives??

This number called and I did not answer. So tired of these bogus calls.

I do not answer calls from unknown numbers. Telemarketers & scams are annoying & waste of time.

The caller asked for me by my full name which no one calls me. My response was, "Who's calling?" Instead of identifying herself I was asked to do a survey for Street Vendors. I asked if I could do it online (just to confirm the authenticity of the call) and was told I couldn't. I then said, "No thanks" & hung up. I called the number back, but the number could not be completed as dialed.

973-999-6093   This number called my residence, and  had blanked out their number with XXX for caller ID  except for NJ (New Jersey).
I  will not answer the phone during cooking supper unless I know the caller, so it just continued to ring and then left no message.   I figured it has to be a nuisance call, I don't know anyone in NJ, and if a caller doesn't leave a message or an identifiable number then they don't deserve my answer.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone and I tried to call back but it wont let the call go through?? WTH?? They can call me but I cant call them???

I just received a call from the number 973-999-6093 and I didn't answer since the location is New Jersey and it would be past 10:00 PST.  I don't know anyone in NJ so I wouldn't bother answering.  Don't pick up the phone if you don't recognize it since they may bill you $1.50 if it is some scam artists.

What ever this is called my home phone. I didn't pick up they immediately called my cell. It is a scam i am sure . I never answer  numbers  I don know..............

Call from this number wanted checking account info for survey.  Said bank asked them to survey.  Called my bank & they knew nothing about it.

I've received 7 calls from this number within the last 2 days. I finally picked up on the 7th call then heard the caller hang up. They never leave a message. Something smells a little fishy here.

call said it was National wire service. i hung up without saying anything.

This person said they were from the United States Postal Office, they wanted a short survey.  I started to do it for the Post Office,  they started to get too personal with their questions

Bxxxx was rude when I told her to remove my number and that I was on no call list.  Said this was a politcal call and they were exempt from rules (Imagine that).  Hung up and will continue to be as rude as possible to anyone that intrudes on my privacy from this number

DNC listed for 9 years..   This number announced itself today around diner time, 6:15pm EST..  Since going wireless,  I don't answer(or return) any unknown calls, til I google them. Thanks to 800notes, this number will go into my cell phone block group and it will never pester(ring) me again.

I got two phone calls from different numbers from NJ with in an hour and a half. I don't know anyone from NJ, the first number displayed Passaic, NJ and second number showed the caller ID as XXXXXX, NJ which is a definite red flag to me. So I now have them blocked, what non-sense and the DNC list doesn't work.

I recieved a call from 973-999-6093 but I disagree with TexasEast. Reputable polling firms like Pew, Gallup, or Rassmussen won't use cell numbers. Although it may have been a subcontractor of CBS, NBC, or ABC polling.

They called, I didn't answer. Don't know them, don't want to know them.

WTH?!  Caller ID shows it as "XXXXXXXXXX NJ."  What in the WORLD is THAT...

The Federal Do-Not-Call list is likely useless, as we have been inundated with political calls lately - sometimes as many as twenty a DAY - and political calls are exempt from the restrictions set forth by the Federal DNC list.  The Political Do-Not-Call list is a joke, as most candidates don't bother with it.  If this was a political call, it needs to STOP.  I'm tired of it all.

I just received a call and the ID only identified it as New Jersey. I was asked very point blank questions about Obama and Romney.... could not get a feel for a specific campaign. It almost seemed like a Gallup or Pew poll.

This number calls my dedicated computer line about 4-5 times a day.I have an answer machine hooked up just for emergency incoming calls.Don't know whose number this is they call and hang up on the machine. I don't want to call it back because that will confirm it is a working number.They have caller ID too ya know.LOL My cell phone has been a private number from day 1.My landline too.It's worth it to not get the calls.But once they have your number you are SOL.They'll call forever.Don't ever call back a number you don't know.It only confirms to solicitors that a human uses the number and not a machine.
