Same as most people. The man with a strong Indian accent evidently knew the  former owner of my phone number and asked for her. When I told him it was the wrong number, he then said there were problems with my computer. I hung up. He called again. I told him not to call again. He called a third time to tell me to "f*** myself." I've reported the number to our state's attorney general's office.

I've gotten several calls from this number and today was the first time that I answered it. The person on the other side was a male with a  Indian voice. I asked them who they are and way were they recording me it sounded like they were recording me after I said something I could here in the back ground my voice and what I had just said to them. He said he was from the technical department and that they were call me about my computer and after he said that I said goodby and I hung up on them. I know that the changes of this being a scam is very very High because I have heard of a scam going around about somebody calling you about your computer saying that there is problem with it. I didn't give them access to my computer or I didn't give them any personal I just hung up once he said that they were calling from the technical department and that they were calling about my computer. I will be blocking this number on my phone.

I have also contacted Microsoft and gave them all the info as well.   They gave me a bunch of sites to go to in order to report and scan my computer.   And they confirmed this is a scam

Yep, received this call, very insistent I go to my computer to fix the error messages I keep getting and they are receiving.  Well I have been getting error messages...wanted to see how far I could get with them to determine what they really want.  They want you to go to inextsupport.com, partial way down there is a remote to computer on this website.   They want to remote into your computer and do something...about this point I decided it was time to hang up.  I am now running all my antivirus, microsoft security and such programs to make sure no damage has been done.  Seems they want to hack into your system.  Thankfully the system I was using with them really has much of nothing.   Would Microsoft really contract with this company to perform maintanence? I think not!

Always tell them in no uncertain terms never to call you again, and that if they do they are in violation of federal law, and that you will report them to the FCC.

Next time tell them you have a Commodore 64 somewhere in the attic, and that you'll go dig it out while they wait on the line. See what they say then. ;-)

I received a call from this number as well today. Caller ID said Kristen Young, but it was a foreigner that introduced himself as "Andy from the technical support department". He proceeded to tell me he was aware I had a problem with my computer. Really? I don't even have a computer.  His response to that was "A laptop?" I said no, I don't have a laptop either. He was wrong. He responded "I'm wrong?" Yes, you are wrong. VERY WRONG and don't ever call my number again! How stupid do they think people are? I'm sorry, but if I'm having problems with my computer, I'll take it to a reputable company here, not wait for someone in another state to call me.

Just finished up with the second instance of this. First was fielded by my wife while I was out of town and she told them that she couldn't operate the computer (not far from the truth, LOL). She called me and told me about it.

Today they called while I was on the computer, so I figured I'd play along when my wife told me "It's the guys that say there's a problem with the computer". I played along and the first guy then said he'd transfer me to the technician who would help out. The line went dead. A minute later, someone else called and started the whole speil again, along with something about me hanging up on them, but I played dumb and said, no, the line went dead. The second guy had me run msconfig and look at the services list, and asked how many of the Microsoft Corporation services showed as stopped. I told him about half and he replied with "OH MY GOODNESS" along with something about if all the services stopped, the computer would crash. At that point, he wanted me to allow him to connect to the computer to "fix" it for me, at which point, I said "No you're not. You'll install something that IS a virus and take it over." I told him that the stopped services were completely normal, and that the computer was fine and he was a scammer, at which point he went off the deep end, trying to accuse me of "being a billionaire" (??), and "why would I want your money?", at which point I told him not to call again. He replied "we'll call you hundreds of times", to which I replied. If you call again, I'll report you to the FCC, as it will be illegal as I had just told him not to call again. His parting shot was a one-ring callback.
Same number, which is probably some poor sap's number that's been hijacked. I'm wondering what would happen if I called them? Will be blocking the number, but unfortunately, they'll just call someone else. I like the air horn idea.

All of the above. Yes, Indian accents, claiming error messages Microsoft is getting from my computer, same arguments as I read all of the notes from the other commenters. "but ma'am, you never answer our calls"   Thankfully have caller ID, and will block further calls from them.

received call from a man with East Indian accent (caller ID showed Kristen Young, 985-778-4834) said that they show I'm a registered windows user and that I need to go to my computer and they'll step me through what I need to do, in order to fix problems.  I played along for a while and then said I'm a MAC user only and no Windows here, that stopped him in his tracks!  Told him he must be crazy if I'd ever do what he is asking, etc etc. and hung up!  I feel sorry for some older person that might listen to them.  :(  They need to be stopped!!!

Called moring of June 17th, figured it was a call center call as there was a delay after I picked up before someone answered.  Male voice with accent, stated he represented some company, didn't get the name, but said he was calling about my computer.  Said I wasn't interested and hung up.

Called 16 June 2-014 at 5:15 pm. Didn't recognize the number so didn't answer. Filed under Spam in my phone list (all such numbers have a "silent" ringtone so if they call back the phone doesn't ring and it comes up as Spam in my caller ID.

Prank Call
I love getting these calls because they claim to be the Windows technical department but I do work for Microsoft.

While we want to make sure everyone's PC is protected, we would never make these sorts of calls.

hang up or block the caller.  Or, you can do what I do, play dumb and see how long it takes to get them so frustrated they hang up on you !  Just don't actually do anything they ask with your computer.
