Unfortunately as a business, I have to answer the phone, which opens me up to abuse from these types of calls.  I got two in a row today...

The first from a man who was completely unintelligible.  I was transferred to "Quality Control" where the woman spoke better English, but refused to (a) fax me a copy of this invoice for review with the business owner, (b) give me a call back number once I was able to verify this invoice, and (c) verify the business owner's cell phone number that they apparently called first which is how they were given my name.  When I said I would not be authorizing anything, she hung up on me.

Not a minute later, I get a second call from "Camilla" who is one of the managers and the person who spoke with the business owner.  She also wouldn't perform any of the tasks I asked above, and when I said, "It's interesting that a legitimate business will not provide a contact telephone number, and that the number that shows on my caller ID has been identified as a scam."  She too hung up on me.

They just called and I sent it to voicemail. I think the MEANT to hang up but did not so I have a few (sounds like 2) women speaking Indian and it sounds like they are trying to figure out how to pronounce a name. So "guillermo galager" I guess they are calling you next. I hope they call again, this time I will answer and have a 20 minute discussion about my cat.

Caller ID just said Alma, MI.

Some foreign woman asking to talk to office manager.  When told they were not available and would she like to leave a message, she started to repeat what she said, but then the phone went dead.  Must have been a newbie.

I got a similar call.  I am the owner of the company.  It turns out that I've probably had hang up calls from them 7 times , since 1/23/2012. 3 calls look completed, then apparently I called the # back.  Today is the 1st time I heard about authorizing a cancellation.  I ask him what country he was STANDING in.  He said NY.  I wish they'd come knock on my door to collect.

I just got a call from this number. The location that showed up on the ID was Alma, MI. Unlike the other callers, though, I didn't get a telemarketer/scammer. After a few seconds of silence, what sounded like a little girl began singing. It was extremely creepy.

Was threatened by the guy who claimed he was from yellow pages, said if I didn't cancel the service or if I hung up he would kill me and my whole family.  Wow.  When I told him the boss was on his way (it was the deputy) he apologized, then threatened the cop!  What a day.

My office manager got a call from these people yesterday and it went just like everyone else on here is saying, right down to the $599.99 bogus cost. I'm going on record here to say I NEVER have had any yellow pages ads, so I did NOT cancel any last year and I will NOT pay any invoice they send me. I attempted to return the call, but got a message saying the number was no longer in service. What a joke. I wonder how many suckers they actually have gotten to pay them anything? Not THIS sucker! LOL

I received a call to my business couldn't understand caller and asked for another representative and couldn't understand him either. He ended up telling me to SHUT UP and Listen to him. I asked for his supervisor and could only understand that they were calling about an urgent cancelations my boss had called in yesterday regarding our online yellow pages ad. I knew that was a lie so I told him he had the wrong number and hung up!!!

NEVER answer yes or no on these calls !!!!  A company did this to me several years ago ... saying they just wanted to verify information.  They would say "Is _____ the name of your company ? Yes ?  Or no ?"  THEY EVEN TRY TO LEAD YOU INTO YES OR NO.  I am VERY GOOD at this and I just repeat everything they say, "My company name is ______"  I've had them even transfer me to other people trying to get yes out of me.  It's hard to do .... but once they get a yes ... they are recording it and can put that anywhere they want and next thing you know they have a recording of them saying that you agree to a bunch of stuff and then you hear your voice saying "YES".  So don't do it.  Any telemarketer I usually say "I refuse to talk to telemarketers, stop calling me."

If you do the repeating thing to them .... they will get so mad that they hang up.  They will even try to tell you that you can ONLY say Yes or No.  At that point I remind them they are not the boss of me.  :)

Yes, this is a well coordinated, but fraudulent attempt to extort business with supposed past invoices by getting an officer of the company to say "Yes" while being recorded, to accept YP documents. Try and get out of it, then have your phone system block their number. They do keep calling, and calling, and calling. I reported them to the Michigan Attorney General, and others as best I could.

I just received the same exact call and when I told "Ross Taylor" ID#5010 that there was no way that  had agreed to a $599.99 charge in 2009 I was diconnected. Then a "James" called back and said that he was the manager. When confronted about the payment from my associate he alos disconnected the call.

I posted earlier about receiving a phone call from a not working number. This made me think of how this could be possible for an individual to call me with a caller ID number that was not valued. I did some research and discovered that there were devices that can change your caller ID number, and voice. I found these websites and thought it would be interesting to note, and understand that there are devices to do this plus cell phone Apps.

Got the first call from a Ronnie Dadid and was way too patient with him. He tried to tell me my Yellow Pages Listing was expiring and I needed to stay on the line for a cancellation number. I'm not listed in the Yellow Pages but he wouldn't listen to that. Ended up hanging up on him and then received 15-20 calls in a row from him. Had to unplug my phone to get it to stop ringing.

These people continue to call our office regarding a yellow pages bill and keep trying to transfer me to another person and yet another person to give me cancelation # to cancel a subscription that we never had to begin with. They don't take no for answer and they are trying to get you to say yes to everything they say.

I also received a call from (989) 796-4494 much the same conversation as other posters. I figured right off it was a scam so I gave him a hard time, and had some fun doing so. The man claimed he was from ?publicyellowpages.com? and he was the account manager named Jim Smith. I asked him if he was related to Jack Smith, and he said no. The man sounded like he was from either the Middle East or India. He wanted to help me cancel an invoice for the expiring yellow pages advertisement, and if I didn?t cancel it we would be charged $1,200 for the advertisement. He wanted to have a third party approval to insure cancellation, and afterwards they would give me a reference number that he needed for cancellation. I told him we never ordered any yellow pages advertisement, and I don?t want to except any invoice for a service never rendered. He insisted I cancel the service or I will be billed $1,200 for the advertisement, and needed the third party approval. I told him go ahead and have the third party come on. I told the third party I don?t want any invoice, nor did I ever have any service and don?t approve anything. The third party hung up not giving me any reference number. Jim Smith called back wanting the number, and I told him they never gave me a reference number. He insisted to try it again. I told him I don?t feel like it. He then got mad, and said I was going to get billed $1,200. I told him I will not approve any invoice for services never rendered. The man hung up.

The caller was a scam, and don?t except any invoice from this number.

Received the same call on 02/16/2012....From "James Miller" who had such a strong accent that I could barely understand him...Asking for my boss, etc. I hung up on him 4 times, he called again, I didn't say anything at first...then in American tone said "Speak up B***H!" and hung up. He called again, another girl took him and chewed him out. How rude of him to call me that. Stupid scammers!

Same thing keeps happening here regarding the cancellation of the Yellow pages. We have taped all of the conversations. They want us to approve to receive an invoice so that we can cancel it. Don't accept the invoice or you will be stuck paying for the $599. This is a hoax. Everytime we ask for their tax ID number then they hang up or try to give us a bogus number than does not have the correct number of numbers. We even conferenced them in to our IT department just so they could also hear the conversation. These people have a very strong accent and talk very fast so it makes it extremely hard to understand. I like the suggestion of one of the other posts and transfer the call to someone like the Attorney General or BBB.

Recvd' same yearly unwanted call from this # 989-796-4494.  Pujaab from a call center in India states they need authorization to cancel our free yellow page listing from 2010.  It's the same script every year.  Boring and waste of time.  We have never had this listing nor need to cancel any account they claim.  Have reported this scam phone call here and to state Attorney General every year....and for what? they keep calling and keep harrassing us.  Is there no help to stop this scam?  If only a person could reach through the line to sucker punch these gentle but stubborn folk.
