That was great!  Hahahahahah!  Yeah, they tried to call me Wednesday | September 25, 2013 | 5:02 PM PDT | 9 seconds.  Caller ID said Invaid number, so you know they are spoofing the number.  My call blocker stopped them from getting through.  All they heard was one ring, then 8 seconds of silence, than a hangup.  My phones won't even ring unless the call is from a number on my approved list of VIP and Invited numbers. (Thank you, Digitone Call Blocker 10!)

These "creeps" have called me 6 times in 2 days. I am on a DO NOT CALL LIST, & said so. I requested to be removed "from thier list". This (creep, yes with india accent), argued with me when I   informed him that I was reporting these calls, so,then   HE was "anal" about the fact that I, WAS ignorant, as HOW would I know that this was EVEN a telemarketing call! I AM REAL sick of THIS CRAP!!!

Just got a call from this number. Same people have called several times but first time from this number. Told him bad connection, couldn't hear him an hung up. Not two minutes later he called me with different caller ID showing up. I told him we are not "Do Not Call List" and do not call. I just kept repeating this. As I was hanging up he was saying they would just "disable my computer!  I'm buying a police whistle. Next time they call, I'm blowing it!  Maybe then they will get the message. Oh yeah, said his name was  Hunter, but sounded more like Raj. I believe everyone should be able to make a living and telephone soliciting is one thing, but these scammers drive me crazy!

After a Century Link tech was at my place of business working on the PC, a person called from this number. My boss thought it was a follow up call so she tried to work w/the person cuz he said he was from Windows and they took her entire operating system down, then wanted $138. I'm wondering what the connection here is to Century Link? Are they somehow accessing their customers?

This number called my boss who owns and operates a small business. A tech had just left her house so she thought it was a follow up call from Windows (he said he was from Windows) and he accessed her computer. Her entire operating system is now compromised! Any new info she puts in her computer is gone, her business info, personal, etc. DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE FROM THIS NUMBER! They will take down your pc and looks like some type of spy-wear has been installed. He continues to call and asks for $138 for "fixing" (scamming!) her computer. THIS IS A SCAM! Police involved.

6:30 P.M.  Call from this number - heard my own voice in feedback.  Caller said she would call back on "the other line"  (I was already suspicious.)  She spoke with a very heavy East Indian accent and quickly about unwanted "things" coming in on my Windows computer and said she could solve the problem.  Again heard my own voice on feedback.  I told her I was not interested and hung up.  She said she was in New Jersey.

I was told that the caller was from the "Windows Department" and I had infected files on my computer (my computer was talking with theirs and told them) and he would help me find them!!!  OMG - are people really this stupid??  I got the call 4 times - mistakenly answered the first call as I was expecting a call and didn't look at caller ID...  I purposely answered the second time and played with it....  When told he was from the "Windows Department", I asked if it was Sears, Home Depot or JC Penney.... He asked something else and I kept referring back to the above saying that I didn't realize that computers were sold in the Windows Department - he ultimately hung up!!!!  They don't give up easily as they just called again this morning....

Steve, all of these calls are coming from foreign countries using VOIP technology to spoof US or Canadian numbers (some don't even bother with that hence invalid area code numbers).  The major sources are India, Pakistan and Nigeria.  It is difficult to actually trace the callers unless a sting operation is set up, ie where a willing participant allows them to remotely connect to get the IP address of the remote system. That can be traced although it may just end up at one of the legitimate web based remote PC support sites that these scammers use.  However, if they give you a code to type in to allow connection, the website owners can determine who that access code belongs to.  This is not something the average consumer should even try on their own.  The information we victims can provide is really not sufficient to track down these scammers.

Don't vote Republican. Their financial base are largely comprised of the companies that send your jobs and/or phone number to India and China. They have not incentive to stop these scammers.

If he was that gullible, he probably worked for Comcast (a.k.a. Xfinity, another scam). I used to do the same thing to their less-than-literate Customer Support (sic) people. Out of sheer perverseness, I kept one on the line for almost 40-min after he told me my coax cable was polarized and need to be reversed. Poor me, I'm so dumb, I couldn't unscrew the cable (either end) without step-by-step instructions.

Since they keep calling, they have an investment in time and money. Therefore, there are people who fall for the scam and either pay them or lose money via the loss of personal information. While I firmly believe the FCC and FTC are not doing anywhere near enough to find and prosecute these people, I can't help but feel that there are some people who should not own computers or other web-connected items (they shouldn't be allowed to vote, or wonder loose either).

Like another person stated:  They claimed to be calling from "Microsoft Support" to warn inform me they have been monitoring my on-line activities and found that you "have a serious virus."  They asked me if my computer was turned on and when I asked "shouldn't you know that if you are monitoring me" he began to get angry with me.  I told him I felt this was a scam and he informed me I was a scammer.  These people need to get caught and stopped.  I worry / wonder if they actually have done damage or received personal information.  Scary.
