I received this number tonight.  I thought it was Microsoft and let them look into my computer.  They said I had many virus they then asked for money to fix my firewall - I refused and they put my computer back.  Hopefully everyone will be aware that these people are scammers.

My father just got a call, they asked to scan the computer and they said they found many virus'... they mentioned they were with Microsoft Service Center and were offering a service plan for up to 5 years and $399. Once my father gave control of the system to the guy he became very defensive and wouldn't let my Dad log off. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!

Wow I just got the same call just 3 mins ago! Everyday its one scam after another with these India people trying to steal info & money. I have so many of them calling me and it gets so aggrevating. I told the guy I am not a dumb blonde I build my own computers and it isn't infected he still tried to say he was from microsoft and it was. So I told him to give me his # and I would call it back he hung up.
Wow they have a lot of nerve! How can I stop the calls?

999-910-0902 Has called me about 15 times in the past 24 hours....that is harassment!!!

The call came in 11:40 am from a woman sounding Nigerian accent with poor english  ( English as second language) . Claiming to be from Window Operating systems technical support, for security., for my PC's computer's security. I asked her what Company? she said Windows Operating Systems technical support??!! calling me back for my security!!!!  I was a total sham call!!!

LOL, I just got one of these calls a few minutes ago. I gave the guy a real hard time, he finally gave up and told me he couldn't help me. ;-)

I've gotten this same call three days in a row.
The first two times it was blocked, but it's all been the same person calling every time.
The first day he said he was with Windows and that I had malware and viruses that needed fixed and I was like, "yeah, I can't understand anything you're saying" and hung up. His accent was so thick, that was true.
The second day he called, he said I had won a WalMart gift card and I was like, "sorry, I'm not interested."
And today when he called, he said he was with Windows again (and I could actually see the phone number) but I wasn't home, so I told him that. Whe I said I couldn't get to my computer right now, he hung up.
Damn scammers. How dumb do they think we are?

Yes you should be wary as there is no such area code; it is a spoofed caller id.

I just got the 999 call bout an hour ago!! I didnt answer as i was napping but i now that i looked up these #s I say thanks :)

got a call from this number just now, insisting that we turn on our computor, well......it is always on.
Stated he was from MicroSoft and we had a virus. Foreign accent like an India accent.
Told him to call back later........ then looked up the number and found all of your helpful comments

Unknown name and message

Got a call from them today saying they were from Windows and they were receiving errors from my computer. He did not sound like he knew what he was talking about. Also, no one can see what is happening on my computer except for me (and possibly people on my same wireless network). So I knew he was lying. I told him not to call here anymore.

My phone rang this morning and the number displayed looked to me as something not quite right...I have never heard of a 999 area code, so I didn't answer (and they didn't leave a message).  I got on my computer and put the phone number in "google" and came to this site.  I read through some of the comments here, and I like the idea of saying "POLICE DEPARTMENT, WHAT IS YOUR EMERGENCY?"  Just to see what happens.  It looks like to me we should all be wary of 999 area code numbers...this is a great time to "ASSUME" something...assume that a 999 number is phish, scam, fraud.  STAY AWARE....

The caller sounded like he's from South East Asia.  He reports something is wrong with my computer's operating system and wants to run a diagnostic test on it.  When I asked for his phone number so we could call back, he rudely hung-up.  What precautions should one take when giving someone remote access?

a friend of mine in Canada has been receiving calls from that same # saying that they are from windows stating that they are monitoring her computer and that it has a virus, and insisting that she turns it on. She has been afraid to turn her comp since.... :(

Got a call from this # telling me I won a walmart $1000 gift card and they need my credit card # to process the shipping charge of $3.99. scam scam scam. Beware.
