left me a message claiming to be IRS Hotline, I called the number back and they said they were going to have me arrested in 1 hour for tax fraud, claiming I cheated government by claiming earned income credit, I have never claimed an earned income credit. They wanted to set up payment arrangements, and for me to give them money today, when I told them I couldn't pay today, they said call back when I had money.

I call the number back again and told them that I thought this for a fraud call and he said to me what would I do if he said I was a bi*** and hung up on me. Now they are not taking my calls.

I recieved an automated call from a male at 10:43 this morning, threatening we will go to jail if we dont call them back immediately.
He sounded very foreign. I blocked my number and called back. He said he was officer "Jose something'. When I told him my husband wasn't home, he asked for my status and name. I told him if he was really IRS, he should have it and we don't live in DC, so if there was a problem, our local IRS woul've called or mailed something. He got very angry and said we better contact our lawyer!

Agent Heather Gray called us for the number of our retained attorney. couldn't figure out which the 6 lawyers in my family or 5 members of law enforcement would have the most fun or eat her for lunch.
Be aware that if the IRS wants to contact you it is in the form of a certified letter with instructions.
This phone call sounded like a AI recording.Artificial Intelligence. At the IRS level...ok. could say more but AI at the IRS is hilarious enough!

Got phone message today from 202-241-8339 indicating I should call back or legal action would be taken. I have no idea for what, since the entire message was not recorded. Search for this number on the internet indicated people receiving similar calls from this number indicating a scam. I did not call back.

Just got a call like this today. TOTAL scam. They should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to people. Asked for his badge number and he replied that I was going to jail and hung up. Now he has called me back five hours later with sick sexual remarks. Unbelievable....

I have received several calls from this phone number. They have left messages claiming to be from the IRS and stating to call before they "take legal action against you". I reported it as an IRS impersonation on TIGTA.gov then called back. I informed the man who answered that I had received a message and that I had reported them but was calling back just in case any possibility it may be valid. He stated " you may believe what you believe but you will know within the hour." I asked what was meant by that and he replied that the police would be at my home within the hour. Had to laugh, these scam artist do not even know how our system of government works.

This is some coward hiding behind a magicJack device plugged in at some God-forsaken corner of the world where there is Internet service. He's no better than a common criminal using a magicJack device and your fear the same way a common thief uses a toy pistol hidden in the pocket of his overcoat to make a bulge that looks like a real gun.
You can verify that this is a magicJack number by searching for it at http://www.phonevalidator.com .
This scam has been extensively researched at
http://www.pindropsecurity.com/consumer-fraud ... irs-phone-scam/ and it was found that magicJack numbers are frequently used, and many of the scammers are operating out of India. There is even an audio recording of a call returned to one of these numbers and a written transcript of the recording contained in links from the Pindrop Security blog.
MagicJacks are readily obtainable outside of the United States for about $100 US and can come with up to a year of free calling to the U.S. and Canada. In India, see, for example,
http://magicjack.in .
In addition to the regular reporting channels, e.g., the Department of the Treasury, the FTC, and/or your local state attorney general's office, you might also report the abuse to YMAX Corp. I have seen reports that they are pretty good at responding to complaints and may be able to permanently shut off a magicJack device, if necessary, so that it can never be used again.
The YMAX Corp. main web page is at:
http://www.ymaxcorp.com
and their site giving information on how to lodge a complaint is at:
http://www.ymaxcorp.com/contact.html
Note that the "contact" website gives a clickable link to a "live chat" where you can make your complaint.

Another thing the scammers may do is demand immediate payment of those fake over-due taxes by Western Union or Green Dot.
Don't do it. Never send them money. Never give them your personal or banking information.
| Cantfoolme 2014-06-01 16:05:44 Unknown |
Yes, the IRS does not call and make threats of facing "legal allegations". The intent of the scammer is to call as many people and there might be one or two identities they can steal- perhaps an elderly or naive consumer who will give their SSN to this so called IRS Agent.

Left a message on my home phone at 1:00 pm, 30 May 2014 claiming she is from IRS and her name was Heather Grey. Tried to call the number back and the line is dead.
