They usually ask to put a small sign on your property.  When they come out, there are two of them and they try to talk you into buying a home security system.   Never agree to it.

From Home Security System  202-800-5563 Asking my young daughter to buy their system.  They said Ir father, gave them the cell number so she would buy it.  Now, what the hell would a 17 year old want with a home security system?  To top that, they were RUDE to her.

Called, left no msg.

Received a call at 7PM today from HOME SECURITY 202-800-5563.  Suspected robo-dialer so answered without saying anything. After approx. 10 seconds a recorded voice said "good-bye".  Called number back & left message advising I am on the DNC List and complained to the FTC about their call.

These telemarketers even call on the day before Thanksgiving.....

Call once a week or so - thanks for the update on pressing #2 to be put on the "Do Not Call List."  I typically let it go to the answering machine when I see the number.

so are you sure this is a scam ? I just got called about getting new system.

Just got a call from this number ... caller ID said it was out of washington dc. said they were GE w national security. if i put up a security sign in my front yard tgey'd update my security system for free. I told them they are full of it, I'm not letting someone tag my house for ome of your lackies to come by & rob my house gor some faulty security system you must be on crack & hung up on them.

This number just called me. If I don't know the caller, I simply do not answer. (Caller ID is my Very Best Friend!)  We're getting 4 to 5 calls daily from numbers like this, from various parts of the nation.
Bottom-feeding, low-life scum.

I don't "opt out" or ask to be taken off their list - that's just a confirmation to them that there is a "live body" at this number, and the calls will just increase.

Let 'em call. If it's anyone legit, they'll leave a message and I'll call them back.

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

Caller: 202 fake and  bogus  calls /  fraud  scams

Kept calling...left no message...I called back and the robo answer didn't identify the company...just gave me the option of talking to a CSR or putting me on do not call list.  I opted for do not call list...

Said they are GE Home Security... I hung up

Selling home security systems... suspect
Say they are GE Home Security (further investigation: GE is General Equipment not General Electric)... claim to be out of Palm Beach, FL... no website or really anything under "General Equipment Home Security" on google
