Prank Call
Just got a call from thus bozo at 6:45 a.m. It's becoming a weekly thing, with the same guy calling from different numbers (i recognize his voice). He's called in previous years as well, usually on two week spurts. As scam artists go, he's just not very bright. I used to play along, just for the heck of it, then get him riled up with my refusal to pay and insistence on "facing the charges," at which point he tells me to stay home because officers are coming to arrest me. Once I told him I wasn't home and he told me to go turn myself in at my local police station (i would have lived to see the desk sergeants look if I had done that)! One the I told him I was with the DA's office and he hung up, only to call back later to say he was a high school gym teacher and one of the kids had gotten his phone to pull a prank! Today, though, I had no patience and just told him to f*** off. I wish the Feds would get in gear and arrest this guy already.

I have received numerous calls from these CLOWNS, they always seem to be a little to far away for me to make a PERSONAL VISIT which i am going to, along with the Seattle Division of the FBI !!! They will understand what real law enforcement is all about. I wounder what they would do if the party on the other end of the EXTORTION CALL were to suffer a massive stroke??? YOU CLOWNS  understand that YOUR NUMBER IS UP!! When we knock, you will have no doubt who it is.

Exactly, what happen to me today,  they would not let me hang up the phone and continued to intimidate me.  Even told me to pick up my court papers at my local magistracy court house gave me the address and instructed me to the federal court house for the following day to request a dismissal from Judge ?!?!, that I would need to show I had paid the fine.  Almost an hour later, when they finally told me how to pay the fine, There was an agent undercover at my closes Walmart who would process my wire.  I said you stupid a***oles, I'm calling the FBI !

I did answer this call, thought it was a client.  Same thing as others have reported, claiming he is with  DEA,.  Told him I could not speak to him at this time, so he threatened me, saying he was sending over a Federal agent and to call my lawyer.

ALERT - EXTORTION SCAM - ALERT
DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by
DEA Special Agent Impersonators
The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.

The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies.  The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine.  In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas.  If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property.  Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.

Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law.  The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.

The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet.  It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met.  And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the lnternet must be registered with DEA.  By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law.  In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat.

"Matthew Barnes" called me yesterday asking for my husband. When questioned about the nature of the call he became very angry with me. Said I should take this seriously that he could arrest me. I asked on what charges. He wouldn't reply then hung up on me. My husband called him back and he gave the same speech. Said our house was under surveillance and officers would be there in 15 minutes. My husband told him to come on over anytime!  I hope they are caught soon and I plan to file a complaint with the real DEA!  Total SCUM OF THE EARTH.

This happened to me at 2:00 this afternoon. He went by Agent Daniel Reid and had the same badge #. gave me basically the same options.Had until 4:00 to go to Walmart and purchase ( 5 ) $500.00 Green. cards, purchase each one separately with 5 receipts.Fed ex would be at my house on Thanksgiving Day to bring me some papers to fill out and would pick up the green cards.Went to the Police Department so I could confirm it was a scam.Hopefully they will be caught before someone sends them money.

I came home to an important message from Agent Michael Turner, Badge #N70624 who said he was with the DEA. I called him back and he said that I was under investigation and officers were standing by to come arrest me.  However, due to my clean background they were going to reccomend the charges were dismissed.  He then transfered me to Agent Matthew Barnes, badge #A3318.  He said he has been with the agency for 15years.  He was going to allow me to go into the "gateway program".  In this program there are 3 options - 1.  6months house arrest, 2. 5yr probation (could be arrested if I even got a speeding ticket), or 3. pay a penalty fine from $1 to $50k.  Once I made the payment, papers would be at my door tomorrow morning (Thanksgiving day, really??)  He said I had to let him know RIGHT now what I wanted to do.  When I questioned him, he said that I wanted to watch what I was saying b/c he was doing me a favor by not arresting me.  I told him I wanted to call to talk about this with my dad before I made a decision.  He didn't care for that, but I promises I would call him back in 30 min.  I have to admit, at first I was starting to get scared, but after listening to the "pay" option and the fact they were going to have papers clearing me of all charges at my house tomorrow (again, on Thanksgiving day) I knew something was not right.  Glad others have posted information about this number.  These guys need to be STOPPED!!

Prank Call
"Special Agent Mark Trueville" of the DEA called my cell, home and my office leaving threatening messages.  I called him back, after reporting him and his phone number to the Department of Justice Office of Diversion Control:  http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubs/pressreleases/extortion_scam.htm

I told him that impersonating a federal agent is a crime, as is extortion.  And since I've never purchased illegal medication and I have documented reported identity theft through my Citibank card a decade ago, with legal confirmation that he is wasting his time and I find it hard to believe that the DEA is out to get me.   Then I told him I'd already reported him to the Department of Justice and that I hoped he enjoyed his visit from the REAL DEA soon.

Prank Call
Called, asked for wife.  When he stated nature of call, I told him that I was a 22 year Police Officer (true) and I knew about the scam.  He became unsure of himself and started to stammer.  All he said that he wanted her to call, I told him to send agent.  He said he would, and I told him I cant wait to meet them.  He hung up after that.  Pure B.S.

Just received one of these calls too. Have had these people do this before and if you call them back they will call you non stop for days until you threaten them back and report them. This is a scam to try and scare people into paying them money so you will not be arrested because you supposedly purchased medications online 10 years ago, etc....

This man was posing as a DEA agent Matthew Barnes of Seattle, Washington. He was threatening that he had a SWAT team, arrest warrants, search warrants, and that they would take me away in HANDCUFFS! It was very frightening! After some research, we found that it is an EXTORTION SCHEME!

Do NOT answer their questions. Do NOT give in to their ploys or threats.
