The actual number belongs to a theater boxoffice in Monmouth, ME. I called the number and the theater is aware that scammers are using the theater's number to "mask" their own. The last time I got a call from these scammers, I checked with the bank that issued my credit card. The number that time was a number in Manhattan (NYC) but was not in the bank's own directory for NYC. Local rep for bank advised that only cc issuer can change card rates and even if they do they won't contact you via phone.

Got a call today at 12:02 p.m. asking is I wanted to lower my crecit card interset rate. Caller ID said "Theater at Monm"

Pretty much what everyone else said. I have reported them to my State Attorney General and the Federal Do Not Call List. It is a shame they are using someone else's number. I looked up Monmouth Theater and it looks like a great bunch of people.

When calling this number back the message says that there a movie theater and in the message saying there number was hacked, but whats even funny is the womans recording voice that says they were hacked is same as the call i recived, and on top that they wouldnt use the word HACK in there message. SCAM SCAM SCAM

207-933-9999 is the number for the ticket box office for the Monmouth Theater in Monmouth, Maine. My voice-mail recorded the number, although caller I.D. showed V07231201030089. Someone apparently is using that number (illegally) as a "jump-off" number to make these "lower your interest rate" calls.  For certain, this has to be a SCAM !!  The main phone number to the theater is 207-933-2952. The staff is there Tuesday thru Sunday 10am to 6pm. I recommend everyone give them a call. They will have to call their local phone company to find who is using their number as a "jump-off" number. Who knows, maybe the staff members at the theater are a part of the scam. On the theater's website there is a form you can fill out to order tickets. If you order with your credit card, it requires your credit card number, expiration date, and signature. "IF" the theater staff is involved, it's a good way to get people's information !!

Doesn't seem to check the Do Not Call Registry and doesn't mind disguising themselves with a fake identity.

They call from all kinds of numbers. I hear them on the phone, I just hang up. I wish they could be traced and a stop put to this. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST. Who do I report this to?

These folks call endlessly from a variety of numbers.  This is a spoofed number, and they tend to use lots of spoofed numbers.  If you ever talk to one of these folks, they are nasty pieces of work ... basically criminals who hope to steal your money.  If there is a way to stop these calls, then I haven't discovered it yet.  Probably have called at least 100 times thus far .... ignoring them and blocking them doesn't seem to stop the calls.

This group constantly changes their number that shows up on CID.

It is a group that is apparently operating some form of fraudulent credit card rate reduction scheme and is attempting to gain your personal information.

Every time I have spoken to someone, the moment you try to control the conversation or start asking questions as to who they are, they hang up.

Because they are likely spoofing the CID number and not provided any company information to people who answer or call back, they manager to avoid facing complaints and charges made to the FTC.

Just got a call from MONMOUTH THEATE 207-933-9999. The message said something about a card a lowing the rate. If I wanted to talk with someone press 1. Are they kidding me.
DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING. JUST REPORT THEM TO THE POLICE OR THE GOVERMENT.
ANYTIME YOU PRESS A NUMBER THEY HAVE YOUR NAME NUMBER AND ADDRESS. GUESS WHAT HAPPENS NOW.

Received phone msg from this number re: lower interest rates. The caller I'd said Monmouth Theate. From previous posts, it seems someone is using Monmouth Theaters name & number fraudulently.

Received important call about lowering my interest rate on my credit card to 6%.  He hung up on me after I asked how he got info about me. It was listed as Monmouth Theate on caller ID.

Just got off of the phone with one of the nicest people...he works at the Theater at Monmouth in Maine...they're a small, non-profit repertory theater and, shamefully, their # is being spoofed (which is what I called to let them know)...he said they've received MANY calls today, some from angry people...please don't call them in anger...this is not their fault in any way, shape or form...please file a report with the FTC &/or FCC instead.

called my home number today 7/19/12 at 1:18pm.  Caller id said MONMOUTH THEATE.  I didnt answer they didnt leave a message just hung up after 4-5 rings.

Received yet ANOTHER call from "Rachel with Cardmember Services" today...this time from a new #, which supposedly belongs to the Theater at Monmouth Box Office...very strange...listened to "Rachel's" recording & pressed "1" to speak with someone...waited anxiously with air horn in hand...then was hung up on/disconnected...oh well, maybe next time - which will more than likely be either later today or tomorrow.

"Important call" regarding my credit card.  Odd since I don't have a card and I'm on the do not call list.  I pressed 1 to speak with someone, asked her how she got my number, she said "You called me" and hung up on me.  Monmouth Theater showed on caller Id.
