Been there today, stinky office, unprofessional people, some wearing shorts and t-shirts had no job description available, not sure what their deal is.

I'm a receptionist and I get many calls on the switchboard from recruiting companies hoping I'll provide phone numbers for many of our employees...which is frustrating enough...but these people....
I see the message below is from January 2011.. On their webpage under CURRENT OPENINGS, it STILL says "Coming Soon".. 18 months and counting and they still have no job postings. some business

Yes this number has been calling my partner for some time. Looking at all the Oct 1 responses that state this company is legit... all the messages have the same type of text speak abbreviations and grammar errors... you are and your have two separate meanings. DO NOT GO TO THIS place or call them back. My partner wasted his time going out there and the staff was cursing the whole time around him or making Thursday night plans. I said the office was run down and the staff highly unprofessional.. very Jersey Shoreish. They kept giving him the same form that looked like something they drew up quickly on Word. This company is a total waste of time and they are taking advantage of the unemployed and giving them false hope. Searching for a job is not only a full time position but when people out there are scamming off the unemployed, it is just despicable. If I continue to hear more about these people, I swear I will pursue getting them shut down. Karma is a bi***!

I got a call from this guy John who claimed to be from the tpgnyc group. He said that he was a recruiter and had a lot of IT openings, but could not discuss anything technical because he was not a technical person. We did discuss some stuff but it was more like I was doing the taking as I wanted to tell him my skills ? and he was just absorbing without any positive feedback. He wanted me to go into his office to meet some technical people and potential HR managers today. He asked me to email him my resume, but said that he could not return a receipt email or any reply because his laptop is down! I did email my resume to him cos it?s already in the public job portals. However my resume does not have much personal info. He said when he got to his office this morning he was going to send me an email confirming receipt of my resume and showing his office address in Manhattan NY. So I told him that I may show up providing I got a email confirmation from him. As at this time I have not received such email yet.
I looked up the website, and I saw that the ?current opening? tabs has no jobs. In fact it said ?coming soon?! the site is tpgnyc.com
Giving, all the above comments and the unprofessional conduct of this John Guy, I would conclude that they are FAKE! And that their mission is something else disguised as an IT recruiter.

I was called by this company this afternoon. A young woman had briefly introduced herself and had immediately asked me to make my way to their office this afternoon. She was unable to provide a website name (which I had soon thereafter determined to be tpgnyc.com) and was unable to relay any information pertaining to current openings aside from simply stating that they were help desk-related. Since committing to travelling an hour and a half for a live interview sans any relevant information is not only unprofessional but downright shady, I had prodded her for additional information via email at which she replied that their "email is down". If you are an IT staffing firm, I would assume you would have adequate resources to pull from in order to promptly resolve your Exchange issues, no? Anway, having simply been told to head into New York for an interview soley on faith alone was not convincing enough for me. Although the Phoenix Group may possibly be a legitimate business, they certainly run things terribly and I would suggest being cautious; don't willingly give too much information if they are unable to provide you with any. If you're really interested, visit tpgnyc.com's "current openings" section. I'm sure you'll find a plethora of opportunity (*note sarcasm*).
As for the individuals that continue to laud this recruiter and bash other posters, the reports within this forum are obviously legitimate claims, otherwise they would not have questioned the validity of The Phoenix Group nor would they have actively sought out answers in places like this. Maybe you are somehow affiliated with this recruiter and are attempting to restore it's reputation or you just plain lucked out with them and found a worthwhile job. Either way, I'm simply stating my personal experience and opinion.

Could anyone please tell me why would people that got a job from TPG look at 800notes for their number? Good day!
ZK 2010-10-27 00:09:40 Unknown
Got the call too.. Not very professional and did want to set up an interview as soon as possible. Also feel that they are full of it.. additional email address: jmiggs@tpgnyc.com
Also, I feel this site (800notes) could benefit by adding ip addresses of the posters, so as to indicate who's posting here...
Positive responses that I have read here sounds like the same guys that are doing the calls... I feel bad for these college kids that are calling, though they are getting paid, their job satisfaction is quite low I bet... I hope it doesn't last too long for them ....
Good luck to all who's searching!

Hmmmm sound like they hired you themselves to help run the scam on 800notes, how's that workin' out for ya? Stealing enough $$$ to put food on the table?
Morena 2010-09-29 17:06:28 Unknown
I just received a call from them and set a meeting for tomorrow. How was your experience with them ?
NYGuy 2010-08-26 14:42:44 Unknown
Got a call from a man claiming to be recruiter from Phoenix Group. He kept asking me about my other interviews!! So I asked him to send me job descriptions. He said that's a waste of his time. Then he spoke to someone off the phone. Then he said to me, "do you really want me to send you that SHlT?" I said please. He hung up.
When I checked my old email, I found offers out of the blue for "Financial Manager" when my specialty is I.T. Emails from them looked like identity scams, or Nigerian scams for bank info, etc.

I received a call from John Migs, as well I went to the Interview we sat in a conner of a room filled with people he was more concerned about whom I interviewed and their contact info then what I was looking for. I wouldn't give him any info on any places I've been. He had no jobs for me to look at just wanted my info whom I'd interviewed with. I left he said he would be in contact with me in a few days. I received a call back from him the very next day. talking to me as if he had no Idea who I was. All he said that he got my number from DICE and wanted to setup an interview A.S.A.P. I let him finish talking then I asked him if he has any Idea whom he was talking to HE Had NO Idea I Was just there the day before. Once he realized whom I was & that I was just there he tried playing it off then Hung Up.. Very Unprofessional I will not deal with them going forward.. They have No Clue What their doing.. If you get a call from THE PHOENIX GROUP I would think very hard before you do anything with them.. I Don't trust them at ALL !!
Rich F 2010-08-05 19:14:21 Unknown

Yep! Got the EXACT same message. Very cheery and engaging female voice as if she were someone you knew and had a good working relationship with.
WILL NOT CALL BACK!
Kevin 2010-07-23 22:15:09 Unknown
Did you go to the interview?
Rhyme Animal 2010-07-21 16:01:33 Unknown
Received the same message as above, from "Katherine", as if I knew who she was. I called back, it is the Phoenix Group- dont know, dont care.
Me too 2010-06-29 14:59:21 Unknown
Called me as if she knew me, said Hi, its Katherine, call me back at 212-599-7100. I am not going to return her call.
Same Here 2010-06-09 03:08:24 Unknown
I got a call today from them. Set up an interview the very next day.
Anonymous 2010-06-02 17:05:37 Unknown
They called me also, trying to set up an interview. Now I'm having second thoughts. What was your experience?
R 2010-05-07 16:14:51 Unknown
Nice professional response! I too went there to interview for a job. It seems they were more eager to discuss how much my credit line was as opposed to finding me a position.
They have been noted on my sites as a scam. I agree.....

Katie is making her rounds. Left me one too. No company name though and made like she knew me, which immediately turns me off to not respond to the call. All calls like this go to the chuck it bucket. I hate cold calling campaigns. MAJOR TIME SUCK!!!
Me 2010-04-19 18:45:00 Unknown
Katie gets around. Let me a vm with her number and no company name but it came up as Career Managment on the caller ID.
Law IT 2010-03-24 16:40:32 Unknown
Katie called - left number and extension. No message.
anon 2010-02-03 18:54:41 Unknown
got a call from Katie at this number today....no message other than to call her back at this number and x5876.
The Dude 2009-09-10 00:08:08 Unknown
Why would poster from Dec 23 be searching this phone number? Seems odd. Anyway, "Katie" from this number called me today about my resume, she left me a VM. When I returned the call I was connected to her, put on hold, then disconnected without a return call. Just an FYI, not really sure what is going on. P.S. On the VM she said she was from "A Phoenix Group" not "The Phoenix Group" - if any of you detectives really care.
