Good Afternoon, Everyone
I, too, got the same number on my telephone. The number belongs to the American InterContinental University. They call anyone who has taken a survey on a college/university's website. Also, they call the recipients to see if they are interested in getting a Bachelor's from their programs. Fortunately, the lady that contacted me was professional and pleasant. I stated to her that an adviser already told me that the university did not have the programs I was very interested in. Afterwards, she informed me that they will take the number off their calling list and not contact me again (Fingers crossed).
So, it's not a debt collector. Just a university dedicated to recruiting high-school graduates and adult students who are interested in taking accelerated courses and on-line courses.
Have a good day!

I told them I am not interested and they keep calling me!

They said it was a application for health insurance. Hmmm.

This caller does not identify its self.
I have learned the hard way that if I don't know who you are it is risky to talk to you

I also just wanted info on getting my masters. I told them upfront that I'd have to find the money. I just wanted to see what it would cost and how the whole thing worked online. I got my degree in '85 so I was at an actual college but this time I wanted to do the whole thing online. After I missed the March enrollment I thought they'd stop but no.

They also use 312-568-2144, 224-653-7100
They are getting more snakey by blocking caller ID number, but it shows on UVerse TV.
If enough of us complain, they'll get shut down permanently.

I got calls for several months last year from these clowns. I filed a complaint with the FCC and tried with the Do Not Call Registry, but you can't register your cell phone (you can put it through, but the protection doesn't apply to it). I went over it repeatedly with them, and they wouldn't stop calling. My husband got on one of the calls about three months in to this fiasco and cussed them out. It finally stopped. Now today, almost a year later to the day, they are calling again.
This is a call center that represents multiple colleges. The colleges pay them to call prospective students and engage them, and that's why you'll get calls where one says American Intercontinental and one that says U of Phoenix, etc. The problem is, I already have two degrees and a certification and did not sign up for any school information this year or last or the year before. They call with bogus names every time.
Today I got two calls in 20 seconds. I had just told the first one wrong number when the second came in. I realized upon googling the number it was the same place and ripped the second caller a new one. Needless to say, I expect another three months of complaining before they stop again.

I was trying to receive a scholarship from "Scholarships4Moms" and nearing the end of filling out the entire form, there is no option NOT to have an advisor call, which is underhanded if you ask me. I accepted knowing i would get many calls. I won't be reapplying for this scholarship because of the under handed tactics used.

They call and then hang up. Very irritating!!! The least they could do is identify themselves or apologize if they made the call in error.

Been getting multiple calls from multiple numbers from them everyday. They won't stop calling. I decided to go to their website and request information under phony names and email and gave them the numbers they have been calling on as my number to call. Now they can call themselves. They are the University of Phoenix.

It is a college admissions trying to solicit their college to you. If you recently filled out any info for college, this is them ready to jump on you. They call relentlessly & they really need to get better customer service education & extremely pay attention to the area code & time zone they are calling. I really am not interested in anyone when you wake me up at a extremely early hr. Plus many of us have other priorities in the am hrs (getting rdy for wk, getting kids off to sch, etc.) & do not have the time to listen to your pitch. Honestly you are wasting your time & effort at this time. You would probably get more attentive ppl if you chose your time of calling at a more appropriate time. To those solicitors you should not be calling anyone before 9am their time zone. Not 9am your time zone!

I think I finally found a way for us to get these creeps. I have found a website that will give us the CARRIER that is associated with these callers. If we contact the carriers's enmasse, AND we tell them we are aware of hte illegal activity AND that we will share their information with others, then perhaps they will start shutting these people down. Here is the website: http://www.searchbug.com/tools/reverse-phone-lookup.aspx Type in the number and the carrier information is shown. Go to the carriers's website and do a CONTACT US and send them an email. Here is what I used as a template:
Hello,
I have been receiving hundreds of telemarketing calls to my cell phone and found out that the number that called me yesterday, XXX-XXX-XXXX is supported by your company. There are thousands of people that are contacted daily by 'robo-calls' and this number is one of them. I am not sure what you can do to help us prevent these calls, but I'd like very much for you to investigate the legality of this company who is clearly breaking the law, as I have put my cell number on the FTC DO Not Call List many times. Thank you for your support and I hope you can help set a trend that for carriers that will eliminate these companies from practicing this illegal activity.
I found your information by using the following website: http://www.searchbug.com/tools/reverse-phone-lookup.aspx
(then add your comments or suggestions, but keep it nice, they hopefully will help us!)

They've been calling me constantly for about 2 months. I just went to their web site, clicked on live chat and told them to take me off their calling list. Hopefully it works. I should know in about 2 hours, thats how often they call me.

Calls constantly from the following numbers (so far): 480-327-1234, 602-713-0785, 312-568-2144, 224-653-7100 and pretends to be different Universities, DeVry, Colorado Tech, American Intercontinental, Art Institute or Colorado Tech. Usually asks for a random person's name to make it seem like a wrong number. Ignores requests to remove from call list; people are usually very rude and will not give actual company information and just hang up if you ask for it.
What to do if you get one of these calls: when talking to them, cite the "Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991" and demand they give you their full name, the company they represent, the company's phone number and their address. (They are required to by law--if they refuse, note that in submitting complaints).
If you are on the National Do-Not-Call registry, file a complaint against them there:
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
Then file a complaint with the FCC, listing all the times they called you (the FCC can fine them or shut them down):
http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
Check the telemarketing laws of your state. Many states allow YOU to sue them for damages up to $500 (see the FCC site for details).
I, for one, am fed up with this harassment and am doing something about it.
