"IT IS A GOVERNMENT SCAM.  Think about it--How does anyone know you are on the DNC listt?????"

It doesn't have anything to do with the DNC list. They have mass printed lists of the last 4 digits of possible phone number sequences.  The phone room manager writes the 3-digit area code and 3-digit prefix at the top of the page and hands it to a sales rep.  The sales rep does a reverse search for the phone number on the internet and if the person's name pops up, they write it next to the number.  The phone rep calls all of the numbers on their list.  If they didn't find a number in the internet, they make up a name and ask for that person.  If a name was found, they ask for the right person.  Either way, they're soliciting and not checking the DNC directory because that would be too time-consuming.  They make far too much money on suckers to worry about the little fines for breaking the law.

"These scammers have been fined, jailed, etc. and keep coming back because people like you keep answering the phone."
Not exactly.  They keep coming back because in their little pea brain, they think that they can break you down and get you to buy.  It isn't the act of answering the phone that makes them call.  I know because I never answer my phone, but they still call back.  They prey on people who have no common sense, and they're hoping the person on the other end of the phone is going to be one of those people.  They're not too bright, but nobody ever said they weren't persistent.

I've been getting these calls for several months now and I'm really getting sick of it.  For a long time I looked at my caller ID and because I didn't recognize the number, I just didn't answer the phone.  After the 2nd month of getting these calls, I decided to answer and tell them to take me off their list.  That didn't work because it's a recording.  It always seems to be about something to do with senior citizens, of which I am one, but I know something isn't right.  Now I'm back to not answering it again, but it certainly is an annoyance.

Finally talked to a real person. They want a credit card number to pay for the monitoring service for alleged medical alert system. They also promise $3000 in grocery coupons, but can't say where they can be used or for what. The rep claimed the name of the company was "Senior Alert Care" and that I could find out more information at their website (doesn't exist) and that I could always call them back (you can't) with any questions. Big Time Scam targeting senior citizens. In the background I heard a "coach" yelling that everyone needs to work the calls to get more results so (the reps) get more money.

Got the same call. This guy said I or that someone had bought me an alarm/alert system and they needed my address to came and hook it up. That it would only take an hour. I told him that I don't think so, and hung up.

I have gotten several calls from this same obviously phoney company.  I am thinking since they are wanting to schedule a date and time to deliver their phoney product that they may be trying to prey on unsuspecting seniors and could even possibly be dangerous.  I am a State of MO government employee for close to 30 years now and I will be contacting the State Attorney General regarding these calls.  Until this matter is resolved I would recommend trying to block this number from your phones.

If you have location caller ID the call shows coming from St Louis, MO  I get them once a day and when I see it I ignore it. Then my wife receives it on her phone and now knows it is the 314 area code. It is for sure a recording, not a live person. ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS IGNORE IT, because nothing else works for these scamers

On your caller ID, if you see a name and/or number (or no number) you recognize, you have the choice to pick up the call, or not. Educate yourself, your family, and others about these scams! We are in a war against these "monsters" for our privacy and our peace of mind.

Do Not Call, in my opinion, was designed not to work from the beginning. It is aimed only at charities and "honest" politicians and their surveys. These other spam/scam/phishing phone callers, faxers, and e-mailers dance completely around the DNC. They have robo-caller machines that can go through a whole series of phone numbers. The game is that somewhere they will hit someone who is not too swift, and will fall for the scam.

It is up to us, who are aware of these scams, to educate our families and others about this invasion of our privacy, and the upsetting of our peace of mind. People standing up to these "monsters" is the main way to fight them. (Oh, and do report those phone calls to the FTC and the -- yes -- the National Do Not Call Registry. You might include the Attorney General for your state as well.)

I have gotten a call from this number 4 times in the past week.  The first 2 times I just hung up on him.  The third time I started yelling at him, and when he went on talking, I realized it was a robot call, although he sounds like a real person talking to you.  This last time I listened to the whole works, and then pressed 5 to let them know I didn't want their system.  I am going to report them to the MO AG's Office also.

NEVER ANSWER A CALL FROM A CALLER YOU DO NOT KNOW.   All of you people listed below are now on their list to get more calls. AND NEVER PRESS ANY NUMBERS ON YOUR PHONE.  This is a scam and it has been in the newspapers, on tv and in the AARP magazine.  When you answer the phone it means that they have dialed a working number and you will get more calls.  If you call back or wait for a live person WATCH OUT--THE PHONE WILL BE RINGING MORE BECAUSE THEY GOT A SUCKER.  ALSO THE DO NOT CALL LIST DOES NOT WORK.  IT IS A GOVERNMENT SCAM.  Think about it--How does anyone know you are on the DNC listt?????These scammers have been fined, jailed, etc. and keep coming back because people like you keep answering the phone.  THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH OR MEDICAL ALARM SYSTEM OR SECURITY SYSTEM OR LOWER INTEREST, ETC.  Don't answer the phone if it looks like a legimate organization.  These people use names like March of Dimes, etc.  If you want to donate to an organization, YOU call them.  BEWARE

I 've received daily calls from this number for several days now, and have not been picking up, which is my habit when I don't know a number showing on my caller i.d., even if it is my area cold. Nobody ever leaves a message. After reading all the comments from people here, this sounds exactly like the scam I just saw reported on the news within the last few days.

This is a recorded call, the same as the people have described.  This is John from the Shipping dept. for your medical supplies.  Since I use none I know it was fake!  I always try to tell them to drop my name but since it is a robo call, that is useless....so I then hang up.  I have tried to call the number back but they say this is a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service.....

As recorded by Vonage Visual Voicemail: "Alert. I was calling to schedule delivery of your medical alert system. It's the fall and I can't get a type of system you seen on TV. Looks like the system is been recommended by thousands of hospitals and medical professionals. Let's see it says here that the systems already been paid for. Looks like you're getting the system because you do yourself a friend or family member or maybe even some you know who's experienced a fall in the past. So again. So really been paid for. So there's no cost to you whatsoever. Also says here that the shipping is already been paid for. So to schedule delivery of your emergency medical alert system. Press one now again to have your system shipped out to you. Press one now. Press five to decline the shipment of your system. If you already have a medical alert system please disregard this message. Again if you are."
