Hi Josh, yes, you guessed it...they are calling again with your number!

SCAM 1

You are probably right. I just feel sorry for you that you were so unlucky that they picked *your* number to spoof. At least they aren't committing toll fraud that is costing you money, and I hope they lose interest AND get caught soon.

I do have a PBX, but it's not attached to this number. I do have a great deal of hardware keeping the PBX service protected, but on top of that it doesn't have any usage out of the ordinary. If most people don't return calls when they see them on the caller ID and I'm getting up to 100s of calls a day, I think I'd notice 1,000s of calls getting placed on my dial plan.
I really think they just picked the number at random. At some point I think they'll lose interest and move on.

I called you back Josh - a few min ago - didn't know what it was about...on my vm it stated to press one for security. I don't know how they got my number...so sorry this is happening to you.

5:37 PM on March 9, 2013 - got this call on my cell phone (btw, very few people have my cell #) - I didn't answer it.

John, why be so accusatory? The problem Josh appears to be having appears to be one that is known and that has been thoroughly discusses already -- on this site, years ago.

And Josh, if you are using a VOIP system or even a standard PBX, you may need to check whether someone may actually have broken into it and is committing toll fraud at your expense.

For about a month I've been receiving hundreds of calls at least every other day of people calling back because someone is broadcasting my phone number on the caller id of a campaign. My phone is literally incapable of making that type of a call. Law enforcement agencies in many areas have been made aware of this and are allegedly looking into it. If you have any problems you should contact your local law enforcement to see what (if anything) they can do a bout it.
I've had this number for about 10 years and use it for both work and personal use; I have no interest in giving up my number over what is likely going to just be a temporary situation.
Josh 2013-03-09 21:12:37 Unknown
You can assume anything you'd like. My phone is not even capable of making the type of calls you've been receiving. I use the number for work and a number of my clients have it, so I'm not going to give up my clients ability to reach me because someone is temporarily faking my phone number.
If anyone has any concerns about what's going on, the best thing to do is to contact your local law enforcement agency.

Josh - if that is your name and personna and you say your caller ID number was hijacked - why not terminate your number and get a new one? Otherwise, I am assuming the caller is you!!!!!!!!!

Some how I got this call today at 5:21, and my mother got the call about 5:30, we both hung up.... As soon as I learned that we both got the call, I then called the number back with *67 to block my number and Josh answered and explained to me what happened.

I just received a phone call from this number as well (315-529-5710). I ignored the call but the voicemail left zero information. I thought I'd share that it's still being used.

Also got a call from 315-529-5710 here in California a few minutes ago. A robo-voice claimed a Visa card through a federal credit union had been suspended. Suspecting a scam, I held on long enough to write the number down, the call hung up. Strangely, the number did not appear on my caller ID.

Just got call from this number , same as all here . they said my credit debit card cancel and I should dial 1 to the security department , of course I did not .
Jana 2013-03-05 15:53:06 Unknown
Josh, I apologize I just tried to call you based on caller ID. It is some FEDERAL CREDIT Union. I am sure it is a SCAM, not sure what you can do other than change your number.
Josh 2013-02-24 04:08:05 Unknown
Update: Multiple police departments are allegedly looking into this now. Best thing to do is to still contact your local police. If you did end up falling for the scam, be sure to contact your bank(s) and cancel the cards you gave them the info on.

I just got a call from this number on my cell phone. I didn't answer it because I figured it was a scam. I immediately checked the 800Notes website and see that it's your number, Josh. I will do as you asked and will notify the local police. Today is 2/20/13.

This is Josh again, the owner of 315.529.5710. I have contacted my local police as well as the Florida state policy and neither are willing to do anything about this. The Florida police said that someone from their jurisdiction would have to complain for something to be done about it. If you do get a call from my number asking for your credit card information, please contact your local police about it. I've filed a report with the FCC as well, but they said they couldn't do anything about this either.
Again, please contact your local police if you get this call.

I am in Florida and i just got a call from 1-315-529-5710, stading that my debit card through a Federal Credit Union was closed. This is a SCAM, best thing is not give out persona information, how the heck did they get my cell number.
Aks 2013-02-06 15:18:21 Unknown
I also got the call from same number telling that my debit card had been suspended and asked to enter my debit card details. Ofcourse i didn't. I am going to report this to my bank.
Josh 2013-02-01 18:17:34 Unknown
Hello. This is my phone number. Unfortunately someone thought it would be adorable to spoof my cell phone number and make scam phone calls. Please contact your bank if possible, maybe they can do something about it. I'm getting about 50 calls an hour from people calling back because of these. Hopefully they'll stop using my number soon!
DoNotCallMe 2013-02-01 01:29:29 Unknown
Just got a call from this number saying my debit card had been suspended. Scam I'm sure, I waited to hear the message again to get the name of the company. It disconnected.
