This number just called me wanting to know if i wanted to lower my interest rate on my credit card. I do not have a credit card!  When I waited for an operator and she finally answered I told her i didnt have a credit card she abruptly hung up.

Common theme here is NO Credit cards, They must have a bad phone list.

Hard to sell/scam someone that has chosen not to have credit cards.

They didn't leave me a message but they did call me at 12:50 on a Thursday to my cell phone!

Same robo call scam to lower your credit here... Hate this crap

When they call back, im going to waste a whole bunch of their time and hang up on them to see how they like it this time. . . sooo pissed that they wont accept incoming calls

It's a scam. I pressed 1 (or whatever) to speak to an operator.
"do you have any credit card debt?"
"yes"
"how much?"
"before I discuss my finances, please tell me who I'm talking to."
"click"

Same as above. Recorded messages saying contact them about lowerng interest rate for credit card and that there was nothing wrong with my account. I don't have an account with them so I hung up. I don't know why today (Mon 2-28-2011) suddenly, I'm getting spammed so much.

I got a call today from these people -- they left a message. It was to my cell phone and was an automated message. The first half of the message was completely cut off. They remaining part was only about press this number for such-and-such... I didn't recognize the number so I decided to google it and found all these stories today. Definitely some sort of scam.

Got 2nd call in 3 days - lower your credit scam.

I'm in the same boat as miller. Except, I didn't even get a chance to tell them I don't have a credit card. It was very loud in the background and I couldn't here what she was saying. So I said as much, and then asked what institution was I talking to. The line went still, then I heard the noise in the background again and the service representative hung up without a word.

I think it is a scam.  I think that she put the phone on mute and was consulting somebody, got instructions not to answer my question, and hung up.

ROBO call about getting my own free web-site.  On do-not-call list......  Message left on my machine but only option mentioned was press 1 for more info.

I had same call a/c and nmbr - with unknown as caller
I never answer those calls.

I got a hang-up call from this number and called back. Got a voicemail that I could press 1 to prevent future calls about "promotions'.

TO EVERYONE:

FACT 1 - the DNC list CLEARLY does not work!  Everyone knows this...or should, by now know this!
FACT 2 - filing a complaint with the FCC does not work!  A total waste of time.  Done that.
FACT 3 - having an unlisted phone will not help you.
FACT 4 - asking/begging telemarketers to take you off their call list ? you?ll get laughed at!
FACT 5 - no "class action" suits are filed and certainly, not LITIGATED.   Some of these telemarketers are in other countries and out of the jurisdiction of the USA.

Call blocking phones are very inexpensive $40-$60 and they come with, at least, one wireless handset.  Very, very convenient.

Uniden and Panasonic make CALL BLOCKING telephones.  They?re cheap - $40-$60 and they usually come with a 2nd. wireless handset.  COSTCO & AMAZON SELL THEM.  
They work beautifully!  These phones also block ?PRIVATE?, ?OUT OF AREA? and "UNKNOWN" calls!!!
I have had the same home number and the same business phone number for over 15 years and my home and my business lines (both published) seem to be on every imaginable call list.  I bought a Panasonic call blocking phone for my home and I bought a Uniden call blocking telephone for my business.
NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH TELEMARKETERS.  THEY CAN?T GET THROUGH!
We can stop these telemarketers IF we all buy a call blocking phone.

Unknown caller number which is known to be telemarketer.

Robo calls to known cell phones for commercial purposes is illegal, and that what these folks are doing in many cases (at least for me).

I played along with their scam (without giving any personal information) and found out that they are called Consumer Credit Group and their toll-free phone number is 1-888-674-6834.

The Better Business Bureau gives them an "F" rating, so beware doing any business with them:

got a call from the number about 2 hours ago and had my phone off because i was sleeping and it went to voice mail and left a 10 second message of static...

GOT CALL WASN'T ABLE TO PICKUP NO VOICEMAIL I DIDN'T BOTHER CALLING BECAUSE OF UNKNOWN NUMBR

This number keeps calling my cell and since I don't recognize the number I don't pick up.  This time they did leave a message about lowering my interest on something.  Couldn't understand the first part of the message.  It is very annoying!!!

Got the same call as Harsh...I pressed 1 to see what it was about bc I dont have any open credit cards & wanted to see if this was fraud or something so I can address it...so I waited and heard their annoying hold music until a rude lady answered.

She says "Thank you for pressing 1. How can I help you?" I said "Well you just called and I dont have any open credit cards." and she says "Ok. Well then you dont qualify for this program." and hangs up!

Next time they call just press 3 to stop the calls.
