I read both of your posts. First, information is readily found via the internet. Google your names and phone numbers. Any place like spokeo that shows up, make them remove it. If your family has facebook accounts, make sure your personal information is not public.
This is a type of "grandparent scam"

Ma'am,
My mother was just scammed today from the same number- similar theme. Did your granddaughter happen to apply recently for financial aid? We had a young college age relative who did, and she provided my mother's name and contact information in the process. We are wondering if that was the source of the information used by the scammers to link the two.
Please let me know.

Called saying my granddaughter had a car accident and had been arrested and I needed to send money to get her out of jail.
