This number has been calling my mobile (cell) phone nearly every day for over a week now. If I don't recognise a number then by default I don't answer the call. If someone wants to contact me for a legitimate reason then they can leave a message and number and I'll call back. But this number never leaves a message, so that's reason enough to be suspicious.
I live in the UK, am not a US citizen, have never belonged to any US organisation (organization) so no way my private number should have been shared with these people in the first place. So appreciate you're just doing your job, but your organisation is breaking the law and hassling people.

My phone number is on the DO NOT CALL Registry and these people are violating federal law.

This number calls absolutely every day, reaches my answering machine, and hangs up. When called back, they do not answer their phone. It feels like daily harassment. I've now placed a block on that number--it's an option with caller ID. My phone rings once, and the incoming call is blocked. Still I would prefer that they not call at all.

You're from the US? Then why the hell are you calling my Canadian cell phone? Annoying companies, if they want money then I'll give it to them when I feel like it. How about not upsetting anyone and get another job!!!

i worked for them. If you belonged to 1 organization, they have the right to share their lists of members with other organizations. Comnet simply has list after list from THESE organizations with your name on it. If you are asked to be taken off a list, you are...just not EVERY list that we are supplied with. As a caller, you can only do so much, there is a button for taking off a customer, we push it, you get called again from a different list. It's the original membership you belonged to providing and sharing these lists with your information. It is not "fun" to listen to people bi*** at you for doing your job. I am a single mom with 4 kids, I'll take whatever job I can get, and this is a legit job. The best advice I can give you is don't ignore the call. Unless we get a yes, or no we'll keep calling. Yes, we have to try to ask again and get you to reconsider, but we aren't allowed to stay all day on a call and beg. Just say no thank you, (whatever reason) and hang up.

I have received several calls from this number. They never leave a message and no one I know has that number. Sometimes they call more than once a day and it is at any hour-morning, afternoon and evening.

I have been receiving calls from this number for weeks. I have not recorded specific times.

I called the website contact number and found out the reason they were calling me is that the American Association for the Advancement of Science of which I am a member had given them my name.  This organization is the publisher of the prestigious peer reviewed journal Science.  I said that this had to be a mistake and that I am a member in good standing and renew as an emeritus member as I am now retired even donating funds although the organization is a little to liberal leaning for my thinking e.g., related to public health and climate change.  I will send a note to AAAS informing them that using 3rd party marketing companies is an intrusion and waste of my time when I am a member in good standing.  Welcome to the new networked waste your time world

Heather,  per your recommendation, I went to the website last week and requested to be removed from the calling list for all 3 of my phone numbers which your company calls DAILY.  They are still calling me DAILY.  I want to be removed from this calling list.

People should read the message above from 2007 from the person who says she works for this caller, because it appears to be true. According to their web site, they are ComNet Marketing and make calls for non-profit organizations, so a person could get multiple fund-raising calls if you belong to many organizations. So the calls are legit, but that said, I'm just as annoyed by the calls as everyone else. Give them a little credit - they claim to make removal from their call lists easy. This company is full of dozens of rude, belligerent people who take pride is harrassing people over and over again.

I am in the habit of not answering numbers that I do not recognize. This number has called so much that I now programmed it into my phone as a Do Not Answer and gave it a "no ring" ringtone. So now I don't even bother with the calls.

Duh!  Your people (or robot) calls but does not leave a message.  So we have no idea who you are calling on behalf of.

Got a couple of those annoying 541-864-1492 calls. Looked them up & discovered that they come from Comnet Marketing in Oregon. Their website says we can contact them at 877-581-2565, so that's what I do now, every time they contact me.

Calld me multiple times a day every day, finally left a message saying "Yeah, sheep, ...... They really turn me on." So tired of this..

Got a call from this place today, saying they were with the NASCAR Hall of Fame. They did have my number because I was an original member but I never renewed. Evidently with their dire financial condition they have sold the phone number to make money.

You are hilarious. They do not call for debt collectors. They call for not for profit organizations mostly, things like Museums, Zoos, Professional Organizations, and Public broadcasting. They call to renew memberships, so if you were a member of something like this and your membership expired or is about to expire you might get a phone call. By not answering (or answering) the phone you are not giving them anymore or any less information.

Has been calling every day for more than two weeks between 7 and 9 am. Leaves no voice mail and does not answer when called... going to file complaint.

This used to be my accountant's phone number.  He's been dead for 4 years.  I don't think it's him calling.

I receive a call from this number about once or twice a month and have had the same experience as Lisa--no answer, etc.  I am going to try Heather Hancock also.

Someone from this phone number calls and leaves a heavy breathing message on my answering machine daily. Sounds like a pervert calling, and it always reminds me of a joke I heard:

Heavily breathing pervert calls a woman.
After she answers saying, "Hello. Hello?" he replies in a husky, strained voice,  
"I bet you have a tight a#@-hole with no hair?"
She calmly responds with,
"Yes, he's watching TV - who shall I say is calling?"

I most certainly will NOT provide you with my phone number. How stupid to you think I am? Do you think I don't know that when someone answers or calls back that is how you find out that that their phone number actually is active. I wonder how many people fall for this line you are spewing forth?
