i got a call at 12:09pm this afternoon(7-2-2009)from phone number 630-242-3782 saying I entered a contest approximately 18 months ago either at my local mall or at some type of store in my area it was to win a Ford Explorer or $25,000. Then it said to contact someone named Randy Williams at a toll free number. It then gave the toll free number as 877-848-1743. I have not called them back since I did not enter a contest of any kind. I keep a small note pad in my purse and I write down when I enter any type of contest, plus I tear off an extra contest paper to keep for info. Then I place the info in a folder for safe keeping in case I do get a call from the contest.

I didn't enter this one. Most contest will send an official letter to the main winner/s of a contest with instructions on what if you are a top prize winner. All the other non-winners of the contest will get phone calls from the contest givers trying to get you to buy something. They figure if they give a toll free number, you'll call back.

Then, on the other hand, there are scams you need to look out for that memic contest in order to get the person to send money for processing in order to get their prize. Remember this rule of thumb, if you enter a contest and you win, "YOU DON'T PAY MONEY UP FRONT".  That's what the word "WINNER" means, you win.  The only thing the winner is responsible for is the taxes on the item you win and that isn't collected up front.  That is the winners responsibility for the taxes and that will be taken care of when you file your taxes.  

I looked up both phone numbers the call from the 630 area code comes out of Hillsdale, Illinois area.  Bob numbers if you research them, want you to pay to find out who the number is actually from.  If this were a legitiment call from a contest you actually entered, then you would be able to find out who the company is that is sponsering the contest.  

This is more than likely a hoax!

called and said I won a Ford Explorer.  Yeah right.

Called at night, no message left.
