This number 647-800-2761 is a landline and belongs to Iristel Inc. Landline in Toronto, ON.  Has anyone reported it to Iristel?  They Iristel should investigate and if it is their customer they should report his name to the police.  If not their customer, someone is hacking their system and I am sure customers of Iristel don't want to fall victim to this type of hacking where someone is using their number and even able to setup voicemail.  The ability that this scam has voicemail, would make you think he is a customer of Iristel.  Do you want to ever want to get VoIP phone service from a company that allows a customer to do this?

got this call on Friday. It was on my voice mail. Tried to reach the number. After two sleepless nights thought of googling the number. Then I knew what was going on.

I received one call on Wednesday. Suspecting it to be a scam, I called the actual RCMP's Anti-Fraud Centre.

The woman on the phone said the number is the same as many, and that it is a group that is specifically calling South Asian last names. She said to just hang up. I got three calls from them today, 15 minutes ago. The first two times, I hung up. The third time, I let it go to message. The guy said "hello, hello" and then probably swore in some South Asian language. I don't know.

The Indian scammers prey on single women, single mothers, the elderly and recent immigrants in the local Indian communities.

Report them to proper authorities and if they call you again tell them that you KNOW it is a scam.

I just received the same scam call. Reading the reports here I noticed some what of a trend. I see that the names of many (not all) people makimg these reports (including my real name) tends to belong to various ethnic minorities. So, I think these scammers are going through the phone book and mostly targetting minorities.

Got the same call today - bad accent saying there was some legal action and I should call back that number.  When I call back, there's no answer, but a message saying it's RCMP Division B.

Was frustrating and a little unnerving to receive such a call just out of the blue.  But thanks to everyone here, for sharing the information that it's a scam.

Got a call from same number today, initially they said that we violated the bank rules and then started pointing that we didnt file the tax and we owe CRA 2386$, the guy named duice francis( saying investigation officer) hurried us so much that we have to pay money instantly or have to go to court to battle a legal action. thanks to internet that I searched up the number and found that its a scam.

i got call same today  twice time. first said i am from cra.u have not paid ont personal tax so we arrest u.then second time coming from private caller id and said i am from rcmp.my name is mike brown.u not paid your ont personal tax for year 2009-10. its criminal offence. and we r going to come for arrest u.i told him i am regular tax payer. i never cheat with the govt.my credit history is so clear.if my any amount due govt have to send me the notice to collect the tax.then he said govt send u 3 notification i told him i never received the notification.he told me three type of offence cra imposed on u and its a criminal offence.than he told me that u want to talk in your language than i told him yes.then he give it to amit sharma he talked with me in hindi and told me that rcmp will come to arrest u.if u want to fight the case and solution for the case. so i told him how much i have to paid for solution.he told me 885 dollar.so i agreed than he told me u have cash i told him i want to pay with debit card than he said its violation of fedral banking thats why u have to pay by cash only and officer will give u letter for that.so u have to go in the bank and pay cash to 1890 jane street and 1115 wilson avenue gas station and pay cash  for tay power reload tack.its govt card.so i am ready to pay for this headache because i am with my small baby and he is crying so amit sharma said i am attorney and u have to pay in 40 minutes he continue run his phone for 1 hour and he said if u want to talked with you gujarati guy than i said yes than he give it to gujarati guy he said my name is karan and i am from ahmedabad.he said u have to pay this otherwise rcmo arrest u.i told him i am going to jane street ear by me but i have to arrenge for that because i have my baby with me i told him my nephew not here he knows everything he works in a govt dept.than he said me dont exposed because its your personal matter than i realise its a schame i told him i am not going to come dont worry police arrest me ok . i have not done any offence than i hang up the phone.its a really scam and since phone come i have heavy headacheand baby with me too much crying.police has to investigating in that matter and stop fraud like this.

Got the same call earlier today. Said his name was Sam Richards. Very odd.

It happened to me. I had similar experience before, so I knew it's a scam call, but it's really frustrating to have such call.

I also got the call yesterday. They left a message saying it's from RCMP and that they have a legal complaint against me. Thanks to this website I know that its a scam.

I just received the call for my husband.  I got suspicious and go online to check.  Now I know its a scam for sure.

received same call from unknown caller , same number, division B, saying there is a legal complaint, terrible accent, voice was not clear, saying to call back.

called me in vancouver. said it was from  an officer someone or the other from the rcmp. obviously a scam. a previous call claimed the same , with a bad miami accent and  a different name.

I got call from this number today?so called RCMP with some identity issues and if I don't call back on this number 647 800 2761 they are going to take legal action?WOW.

We received a call from 647-800-2761 saying that they are from RCMP. Telling us that you have three legal complaints against you from CRA. Either pay $35000/-or accept the offer of out of court settlement by paying 930./-& told to pay this amount by purchasing PAY POWER RELOAD PACK first caller name was Gary Hall & another guy name was Amit Sharma.
We sensed something not right but asked them to elaborate the procedure so as to enable to make pay ment to them. They told that you have to keep talking with us & some tax officers will come to your residence will explain everything regarding legal notices which they said they have sent  BUT WE NEVER RECIVED....when we told them why you can not accept $930/- by check . At this point they felt that we are trying to prolong the talk so started abusing over the phone & threatened to beat  with batton when they will see us in person at our residence. We got slightly frieghtened so we called our tax consultant to make him aware that do we have any liability to pay to CRA like State Income Tax. He informed that this is scam so do not respond & complain to Police We tried Crime branch fraud number but lines were very busy....but be careful & take precautions in dealing such matters....we trust that authorities will take measures to track this summer & stop such people from harrasing Canadians

I Got today call from this number saying they are from RCMP and would like to speak regarding a legal complaint they have received from tax department and other 3 thing but I'm asking him for whis padge he give me number myk...and address on 777 memorial ave ontario but i find aut is not in toronto so I called 911 police i tell the story { its scam}
so in the morning i call furad line for report and should change the number as privet  

Just got the same call and they indicated that there was CRA case filed against my Father (who has been dead for 16 years).....they also stated that if I did not respond they would come to my house and arrest me.

Person had a horrible accent.

My uncle got same call and they asked him where do u hide yo money and my uncle said under the couch and then they said we are from South America Thwn my uncle said if your From South America why do u sound like a Hindu dip because he sounded all like da hellui

on March 24th i received call from one James Brown said he was with the RCMP and my name showed on file the had saying i had de frauded a bank and ddid not pay an outstanding CRA tax bill.
When i asked whatb date was this crime recorded he said his supervisor had that information and i spoke to someone who said i qwed $35000.00 and how do i plead NOT Guilty . He then said he was going to send an Rcmp officer to take me to court to see a judge and proove that i am not guilty.
And where are you going to send this RCMP officer to get me. He said he was going to send him to an addrtess ehere i lived in 2000
Bothered by this call i went to 41 Police division and was told this was a scam. Was given information to contact the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre
today i filed a complaint with that organisatioon .

I also got these types of calls twice within a period of 4-5 days or so. On first occasion they said they were calling from Revenue Canada and were saying that some PST was due against my name. And if I dont pay it by today then they will file a court case and will send cops to arrest me, I clarified from my local RCMP and they said its a scam. On second occasion they said they were calling from RCMP Division D.

The same message I have received many times on my machine. I need to contact officer Kevin or Gavin Hall because there is legal complaint against me.

He called me twice today(March 21 2014) and Same history about calling your Tex due and on first call conversation , he scar me about legal action and police arrest, and end of conversation he speak course language because I said to him send the police officer to arrest me. at around 12.30Pm he l left the massage with bad accents and bad wishes.
He give him self as CRA fraud investigating officer David Nelson and same time he pass the phone to Royal division ......Police officer David Halls. I also call to local police officer about above matter.

I called back the number, i told him that i gave him number to the cops and he started going off saying "do you want to s*** my ****" so don't worry people this is a scam
