There is no option to talk to a live person which means they are looking for personal information -- a scam -- maybe to commit medical fraud using someone else 's identity to get free medical care.

This is being investigated.

In order to commit medical fraud they need to know if you have an active and current account with United Health Care. If they randomly call enough people eventually they will find someone with this medical insurance and who will also answer their automated questions.

So, don't press any of the buttons as it prompts you to -- don't even answer. If the ringing bothers you turn it off for a minute until they stop calling, which is usually after the third consecutive call.

If they get the information they need they can have a fake card made up and use it so DO NOT give them any info. Don't even answer the phone, even if they call 3x in a row -- a trick they use to get people to answer the phone.

If you do have United Health Care call them directly during regular weekly business hours to see if they need info from you and also make them aware of this call.

But, do not push any of the prompts to answer this automated scam call.  

They have been reported to the authorities.

The authorities said they are tracing the phone # as the call didn't actually come from the 650-353-2031 that shows on the caller ID display.

In other words the # on the display is fake/spoofed. That's what I was told. There are other ways can locate the SIM # or trace of the computer the call came from. They are working on it.

Received a call from this number 650-353-2031 they wanted to know if I had any other health care coverage. Then they wanted the number which would be my social security number. I refused, they gave me a call back number and a code.
My carrier already has this information. When I looked up the number 877-828-5737 it is listed as a telemarketer.

Got the same call about coordinating benefits from United Health Care

Same thing with me. Except I don't understand the scam. They aren't asking for any of my personal information. This is the 5th time they are calling though so I will probably just attempt to block the number through my cell phone carrier.

It's legit.  Just call the number so that UHC can verify whether you or your spouse have any other insurance coverage that may apply to a portion of your pending claim(s).

I received call from 650-353-2031 and caller ID said United Healthcare, the message said to call back and reference "C12".  When I called United Heathcare on their 800 number, they had no record of anyone calling.

I just received an automated call from "Linda" with United Healthcare.  Same thing with a number and security code as the prior poster mentions.  The weird thing?  We don't even have coverage with United Healthcare.  This smells like a scam to me.

Just got a call from this number, an automated voice message was left after I ignored the call since I didn't recognize the number. The message says it's from United Healthcare giving me a number to call and a security code to do some sort of survey to make sure my claims are paid on time. I'd rather wait and see if they call back with a human before I go answering any personal questions to a machine.

Could be legit, could be a phisher.

United Healthcare benefits dept
