Received call twice last Thursday, 4/24/14 and 4/10/14 it was regarding taxes.  Don't remember the lady name; the call on the 24th was a man.  I tried calling the number but it was not in service.  She knew all the information I had sent the IRS; how can this be possible.  I'm worried at this point; I got a letter from the IRS stating they are still researching the information I sent and if I receive additional notices about my account to contact them.  Calling tomorrow!

Yes, it's the IRS. I reversed with the Agent by making him verifying my personal info. It's about back taxes.

How can they call you from a # not  service. I am getting so I dont trust any calls anymore. I called the # and not in service. Not sure if people are aware of this but you can get a app now that you call from your cell but you make it look like you are calling from anywhere you want. I got a creepy cal from someone a week ago saying he was returning a call from his caller id. Nobody had used my phone at all. The way I loom at it if they need to contact me use the mail !!!

I receive 3 calls from this number today she identify her self as IRS officer asking all this questions so I tell her to give me her ID #  from IRS and suddenly the call drop.  PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! what information you give to this woman.

I received a call today as well with this number. I find it stranged.  She called my office, and I did not pick up.  When I call the number, it says that it's disconnected and NO longer in service.  A minute after, she (pretend IRS agent) called my cellphone.  My suspicious go up.  I answered her and asked her IRS badge number, and she gives me.  My instinct said this is a scam, so I told her that I am busy and told her to call some other time after 5pm.  After that, I called the IRS right away 1-800-829-1040.  I spoke to the IRS agent and said in what scenario you guys call the Taxpayer, the IRS agent indicates that in 'rare' cases, only if there's back taxes that I owe.  I told him the IRS agent that I do NOT owe either the IRS or the State or anyone.  So, they check my entire IRS record if there's any and the IRS agent said that my record is clear and that I have NO back taxes owe etc.  So that call pretending to be an IRS from number 678-537-8873 calling from State of Gergia indeed it's a scam.  To please aware.

That is the name the lady said and she was from the IRS.  I think this is a scam!!!!

I have been getting calls from this number and I am sorry, with all the fraud and hinky stuff that goes on in the world today, if it IS the IRS they should know better... just sayin'

This IS a legitimate IRS number.  I have been communicating with the IRS Taxpayers Advocate on an issue and they called me back on using this number.   I got to this posting by GOOGLING The number.

THis is the IRS they called me and i called the 800 number and this is an IRS number. IT is always good to verify

got a call from this number..a lady by the name of Miss Turner said she was with the Internal Revenue Service, the caller I.D. read "US GOVT"  we ignored the call at first but curiosity got the best of us..so I googled the number at apparently its a scam... so on the third day she calls again, I explained that I am a Registered Tax Preparer and in my experience I know that the IRS does not communicate through phone calls,and if she wanted to talk to us to send us a letter ,,she said she would make notes of that  and I hung up the phone.

Nope. you aren't the only one. Got a call this afternoon by someone claiming to be IRS and it was out of service also.

well, this is interesting. I received a call from this number. When I tried to ID it, my Privacy Star lookup ID'd it as "IRS" . When I called the number back, I got a recording that said that "this number is no longer in service." Guess the robocallers have my number now. I will be barraged with multiple calls now. I will call the IRS and let them know about this. I can't be the only one who has been called this way.
