I went farther than anyone else here on this board...I actually talked to an agent one step beyond the one who asked if I was over 23 and if I had a credit card.  

I would have been able to tell you more, but, when I asked the agent, "Kelly, you thanked me for choosing Marketing for Sunset Group, but I didn't choose you...how did this come about?"

I have been entering contests lately and I was only curious if this call was one of the ones I had entered.

Instead, she retorted, "How did this come about? You didn't choose me, you were transfered to my desk...don't be a smart a**!" and she hung up on me.

Really professional!

Did a search on the internet for this company, and barely anything comes up. Judging from other boards on this site, this company dials from different numbers throughout the year.  Shifty.

Just got a call from this number today, no message.... I suspect it's a bot trying to connect you and keep you line alive so they can dial out long distance and charge to you.

Got a call (vancouver) , always busy when I dial back. I should block it too.

Got a call, said I won something and to press 1. I hung up instead. I will have this # blocked.

I just recieved a call from this number (Oct 28th 2008)  I didn't get a chance to pick it up, so it came in as a missed call.

I called back and got a very fast busy signal.

Just got the call today, told me I won something and to press 1, I didn't just hung up. Anybody have any ideas??

Wow. There sure are a lot of these today.  I got the same thing.  Call with no message.

OK, here's the deal,


Go to SpoofCard.com and it will explain on a smaller scale how this is being done and why you can't call back the number that show's up on your caller ID.

IF you are getting these calls, especially if you are getting it every day or twice a day you must report this someone. I'm not sure who. The FCC, Police, FBI whoever. BUT make sure to tell them that the number that shows up on your caller ID is not the number they are calling from.

BUT BEFore you do that, next time they call get as much information out of them as you can about their company and what they are offering while giving away as little information about yourself as you can. Give them a false name. Ask who you are speaking to/what their name is. What the name of the company is, what their website is called. Ask if you can think about it and can you call them back on this number or a different number.  seem interested.

EVen better if you can record the conversation or at least put it on speaker phone so someone else will hear the conversation.

if you get a phone call where they ask for you by name (it may start out with some job application you filled out, that's how it did for me). here's the tricky part, when they ask for phone number verification...give them the number they dialed: your number (I mean, they already have it, don't they), then when they ask for you by name, simply say you don't know that person.  Make up some name to tell them.  ALL the while keep asking what company this is, what's the website, phone number, email address SOMething.  

THis happened to me because I believe I tried to apply for a job on craigslist.com (which i love dearly) and the email like that it had for the posting connected me to a webpage called employmentselect.com.  So, I don't think craigslist is dangerous, just beware if the email like takes you to a web page.

when I told the nasty women that I had no IDEa who "my real name" was, she said there must have been a mistake and that i wouldn't be called again.  I'll wait a few days and let you know if I get another call.


Put it all in your complaint.

If you all are as annoyed as you say you are and your bark really is as big as your bite, then complain complain complain BUT have something to back it up with.  "Caller refused to give me a name, company name, telephone number, email address, shoe size AND I have a witness/I have it recorded"

this is absolutely ridiculous and we must stop it.  Don't let these people invade our homes and our phones.

Picked up my phone and it was a robot guy who said I won someting. I hungup when he asked me to pres one. I thought it was going to turn into a game from the movie "saw" or something.

I got called from this number, saying a got a gift and to press 1. I did. I was put on hold for a few minutes, at which point a human answered. She said I've won a Mexico trip and wanted to know if I'm over 23 and have a credit card. I was then transferred and put on hold for several minutes and then dropped. Block this number. It is a scam.

just received a call in vancouver almost two hours ago. I answered and no one was there. also use roger's.

Also just received call... did not answer, they did not leave a message.

I'm in Vancouver and just saw a missed call from this number on my Bell cell phone.  My call display shows it's from Newfoundland.

Just started getting calls from this number today. No message left.

got a call from this number too.. called back and said it doesnt accept calls dialed the way i dialed it.. who knows, but best advice is to ignore and not answer.

I'm in Vancouver, got this call at 12:59pm Oct 28th. I did not hear it till i check my cell phone. Seems they target at Vancouver area. I am using Rogers cell sevice, they got all the info from Rogers?!!!!!

I'm in Calgary, Alberta...and I'm on Rogers too.  Kept me on the phone for several minutes...could this be a way to run up cellular air time?  Phoned me 10 minutes before my free evening minutes kicked in. Talked for over 3 minutes.

Got a missing call from this number around 3 p.m.  Didn't call back because I knew to google it first before anything.  My caller I.D. says it's from Newfoundland.  It's just one of those...again.

same as most above. missed the call and did a reverse lookup and no # was found. I am one of those people that get pissed when no message is left. I'm just curios how hey got my cell # to call....

Got this call, and read the article above, and ask for Glen who claim himself to be the supervisor. and then i ask for his number he game me 18009618354. but he said I would have to pay full price if i call through this number i can only get a special deal for the same phone call.  wierd.  i guess i was bored play along.

Hi guys, great that you're having this conversation! I just got called and was told how I'd won something through Rodgers, at first I thought great, but then it started sounding more and more like a scam, when they asked if I had my credit card details and I was getting suspicious!

Started googling the name of the company while talking to them and came up with these pages and hung up on the dicks!
