Also see 418-001-0070.  Same story, apparently.  I have gotten a few calls from the 718 area code, but many, many a day from the 418 number.  They seem to have similar stories...

A female voice called saying that my computer has problems because I had clicked a link at the net. I told her that that that was my problem not hers. Then she told that the problem was in all my windows computers. I told her that I didn't have any windows computer and I hang up. She was rude and she didn't let me speak, she was trying to convince me.

Just got a call from this number. It was a woman, sounded Asian , very thick accent that I could only understand about every 4th word. Wanted me to turn on my computer and said my computer was downloading dangerous files. I told her Nope, not gonna turn it on, and I have a program that would let me know if anything was going on. She insisted it was not a virus, but dangerous files!  I said I am not interested so take me off your calling list. She again insisted.  I told her my electric was turned off and I couldn't turn on computer  LOL she said , well when can I call back.  I said I am not gonna buy anything so you may as well not call me again. NOW she got angry and said in a very clear voice that I understood every word, " I AM NOT SELLING ANYTHING SO HOW CAN YOU BUY?!!  Then my husband picked up the extension and she hung up.

Guy called the house asking for me by name.  My husband and I knew it was a scam based on number/location alone.  We've been made aware of this one previously, as they have called us before but from another yet similar number.  I did find out... that you can actually prevent them from sounding too robotic, by telling them to go F*** themselves.  He did not seem to appreciate this, so he started slinging the F word back... I let him know I'd be calling the sheriff's department... he wasn't concerned in the least, so I assume they would not be easily located.  

Please don't fall for this scam, not only is it old, but there's too much information out there pertaining to it for your protections.

received call from 718-001-0002 a few minutes ago, did not talk but kept line open for a minute or two before hanging up.

got called didn't answer was scammed before from these foreign guys.

just called me and said he is working for microsoft and that he was notified by microsoft sys. that my computer is running dangerous files and disturbing the network! he needed accesses to my comp right away so that further damage can be avoided. He had a mexican accent ( dont know if that is relevant ).
after i told him thats funny but i have a MAC  and dont use microsoft.
he said with a very disapointed voice ," oh, OK" and just hung up".
Beware of scammers!!!

SCAM! Can't they find people who speak english? Hardly believeable...

just got the call asked for me by name when i asked what he wanted.they hung up

guy called 1 hr ago,  wanted me to start my computer to check for problems.  he sounded like a freaking robot with an african accent.  I told him to get lost.

when you call back the number the recording states that this number is not in service can you say SCAM?

this foreign sounding guy called and caller id said that it was unavailable name he proceeded to ask for my husband and then told me that there was a problem with our computer. I then told him that it was a scam and before I could get the words out that not to call again he hung up.

Just got a call from this number.  Didnt answer and they did not leave a message.

Said he was calling about my computer. Told him to stop trying to rip people off. will report to FCC.
