I am always suspicious when I receive a call from anyone who speaks with a East Indian (British) accent. First of all they don't recognize American slang for one thing. The number they called from stated on my caller said New York. When I called number, The operator told me it was a not working number. When anyone calls, listen for background noise. It indicates a boiler room operation,

I received a call from this number and could barely understand them. They claimed to be from Microsoft and my computer needed immediate attention. When I asked what the problem was they replied they needed to access my computer to troubleshoot and fix it. When I said that I was getting a new one tomorrow and didn't care if this one crashed or not they had no reply. Simply that it needed fixed right now. When I said no thanks they got very rude. I believe this was a scam as Microsoft would not call.

My experience is similar to all postings, you can hang up but stringing them along is much more entertaining. Tell them you have multiple computers and ask for the users name of the Computer, ask for an IP address. If they ask you what type of Computer you have reply with a color or size. They want you to give them remote access to install their software and charge your credit card. If you keep them on long enough and they want Charge Card information tell them you do not have one and ask for Banking info to wire the Money to. You can also ask them if they know where you can buy some drugs or if they can recommend an escort agency. You could also pretend to be the police investigating a murder and you need their name and contact info for the investigation report. The possibilities are endless the whole point is to waste their time and call as long as possible.

On Nov 18,2013 I got the call from that number saying he's calling regarding my windows; I played dumb and told him which one? what room? I have many in my home!
He said: your computer window sir in East Indian accent.
I said: I prefer talking about my home windows; they have nice views....
No sir.. your computer windows
For sure I have windows but who told you I have no Windows OS?
You are a genuine Windows OS registered.
I am on the No Call list and you're not supposed to call me
You know about No call list and you don't know about Windows OS?
It's not the issue.. I don't like to talk about my OS.. you're welcome to discuss my home windows if you like
Do you think anyone will call you to ask you about home windows?
Definitely! I got calls about cleaning, repairing and replacing my windows too! And I make fun of them as well! Because regardless if I tell a solicitor not call me again they do it.. It works better when you talk with them about other subjects then they blame me that I am wasting their time and hopefully they remove my number from their list!

I received the same call yesterday and argued with a woman who had an accent, I thought she was calling me from India! She claimed that they are warning me about virus/hacking to my computer and asked form my IP address. She also wanted me to hit the "window key & the letter "R" which will show you all the viruses. I saw the dates and of course it was they same time she is calling me I said that they were a scam, I asked for a supervisor and phone number. The supervisor name was Ricky Shaw (LOL) and I wanted a phone number which she gave me (347) 480-2300. I spoke to some guy & told him that I was reporting him & never to call me again!!!!! Guess what...I called the (347) 480-2300 and an Indian accent answered.. I asked for Ricky Shaw and he said his name was Robert Jones from Newark, NJ and he works with PC Solutions has a service that takes care of viruses, etc. I looked on the internet with that number, it shows as Unique PC solutions with no name!!!

I got three calls from this number within 2 hours this morning that rang on my Fax line . Of course the Fax answer signal was all they got, but it sounds like a redial of anything not answered. Or, these could have been "overload" calls that people experience ,with no one on the line because the scammers dial several at a time and get engaged on one when others connect.
It is strange that when called back the numbers "don't exist"- Where could they find the kind of "cover number" that is "not in service ", or are they just making them up because peole attempt to screen out calls with no number?
Earlier scams had a connection to the #s they gave, and I had a very entertaining time a couple of years ago with a woman in Las Vegas, who chatted casually, and very boldly about how they weren't selling anything etc etc, told me the company name that was actually listed with an address in a building there. I got it up on my screen in Street View. and then I threw in little vague references and details about it and it's surroundings . Then I announced that I was part of a Bust the Telemarketers movement and she had given me lots of solid info. She hung up in the middle of my last word.
It is risky to challenge or shame these people, though- if you inadvertently push the wrong person's buttons, they could cause you a lot of harassment and grief if they choose to. Especially since they appear to be able to completely cloak their calling number. I resist playing games .

Just back from Caribbean and so far I've had calls from 718 377 9204, 585 7629938, 061 84658138 & 436184628724, I have been told that as I've travelled, my number becomes available when I cross over networks. Many say its Somali-like pirate scam - do not respond to them!

Cow Killers, Inc... 10 Million Burgers Served. These guys hack your computer, then charge you huge fees to "repair" it. Your computer will never work again if you give them access.

Fake Microsoft Windows Customer Support. Never let anyone you don't know and trust tell you there's something wrong with your computer. If these guys trick you into giving them access to your computer for "repairs", they will virtually destroy it. Then they will charge you hundreds of dollars to "repair" it. Your computer will forever be unsafe to use once you give them access.

Calling on behalf of "Microsoft Industries" - SCAMMER.
Caller had a heavy Indian accent, claiming to be from "Microsoft Industries", saying that I have a computer running Microsoft and it has a virus. I asked him to prove it and he would not answer. Asked where he was calling from - he said "Washington", I asked city or state? After a long pause, he said state. I asked why his caller id info says New York? Long pause again. He hung up before I could ask more questions. Reporting this to the FTC. Added it to my "block call" software.

HAHAH! I did something along those lines. I just kept messing with him the the url he gave me to log in did not work. he tried everything. I kept messing with him untill he got upset, then I started to insult him. "People Dont take offense as it was just ment for him" I started to ask him questions as I pretended that i wsa trying to log into his web site so he could access my computer.
I started to attack him on a personal level to get into his head. I managed to do a very good job to rile him up by asking if his mom knew he was a scammer. he tried the same thing and said it was not a scam. I asked if they worshiped cows? he said they were like gods. I explained we eat them here. and asked why he had "relations" with cows when he thought his family was not looking and how dispointed his parents would be to know he was violating the cow. Now of coarse i used more of a harsh term with him that i care not to repeat here But Im sure thse reading this know I was far from polite.
I figured the longer i kept this goof on the line the less he could call others. I sure wish i could have recorded it for youtube..

I got the same 'your computer has hidden virus' call. I said I wasn't at my computer and was busy. He called back. Said his name was Alex Martin. He needed to fix my computer or it destroy itself. He gave me his phone number to call back when I was at my computer 201-285-5344 in New Jersey. I called this 201 number and got a message no one was answering. They a guy saying his name was James Wilson called back saying I called their outside 201 windows number, what did I need. I told him he sounded exactly like Alex who had called earlier. He said he'd transfer me to Alex. Same voice came on the line and told him you can't help me. Stop calling. I filed a complaint with FTC.

I've just got a call from this number.
As you all says, it's fake!
I'm a IT Pro, and have for the last 31 years been working with computers. Nobody should call me and says that my computer(s) is uploading files and folders to the net, when I know my 2 firewalls, Anti-virus wall, malware-wall at home does the job. Even if the kids should be shurfing on som sites thru there smartphones, I still have the control of what they surf/download.

I got this call to, fortunately I heard about this scam. A guy called me and when I asked him what he wanted and why he was calling (I also knoew a lot more about computers than he did, whan I grilled him). Finally he got mad and said he wanted to "Hack into my computer" - I told him to *&%^ and hung up. I live in Vancouver, Canada.

I live in canada and got a call from this # quite awhile ago. I did not get to the phone in time and they had hung up. I called the # right back and it said the # was no longer in service. They called again last nite and I was not home and I started investigating and ended up on this site, thankfully. I know my son got this call about 6 months ago. He called me and I told him it was a scam do not give them any info.

Received a call from 718-377-9204 claiming to be Windows Microsoft, telling me I had multiple viruses etc. The woman said her name was Michelle, with an Asian accent, who said she was calling from Caversham, Berkshire (Caversham isn't in Berkshire). I don't have a Windows machine, so I told her I'm on the Canadian Do Not Call list and even if she isn't in Canada she'd do better to check the list so she doesn't waste my time and hers trying to sell me something. She hung up on me. Note that this is an international scam - my mother in Australia has received the same "Windows virus" phone calls, and they told her they were in the Philippines.
