Got a call on my work phone from this number. Unfortunately, I did answer it because the phone number is close to a number from a company in St. Pete...
Got a Recorded message with a female voice. (Aside: I SWEAR that I have heard this voice on other scam telemarketer messages. Wish she would get a REAL job, she has an excellent speaking voice)...."...The FBI reports a break-in every blah blah blah. If you will allow us to place a small sign in your yard, you will receive a free blah blah blah blah...Press 9 to get on the no call list". I did. the phone call terminated immediately. I called the phone number back, got the standard phone company-type announcement that "...this number has been disconnected or is out of service". Well, we'll see what happens....

Thanks for the information. Called them back and recording days non working number so I figured it was nonsense.

I answered and got the "The FBI reports a breakin every bla bla bla. If you will allow us to place a small sign in your yard you will receive a free bal bla bla . Press 9 to get on the no call list" which I did we will see if it works.

I just received a phone call from this number on my office phone. Caller ID says STPETERSBRGFL, 727 is the area code for St. Pete. There is no message left. This isn't the first time they called either. To those of you who call back, DON'T!!! There was a news report the other night where scammers bank on your curiosity to call back, and when you do, it re-routes your phone call to another line and you get hit with a $20.00 or more per minute charge on your account.

The problem is that none of you will know exactly where this call is coming from. You can Google and trace the number as much and as often as you want. I am about 99% sure they are using a call system that allows you to post any Caller ID you want. For example I work as tech support for a customer service call center (inbound only) we use ViciDial and one of the key features is that we can change the campaign caller ID to an (866) number matching the products to avoid confusing customers. I have very bad Cellular service in my building so I have changed my caller ID to display my cell number when calling out from my office. There is no way to stop these things from happening as long as VOIP calling is available. To be safe never buy from a number that you do not know. National DNC list will not protect you from these events happening either. I recommend that if you do any kind of online surveys or Quotes without using something like Google Voice. If you do not give out your real number to any of those you will avoid scams.

I am doing the same. They told my teenager today that they noticed someone was trying to break in. Scared him to death. I had to race home from work. Poor guy was so shaken. I'm suing when I track them down.

I pressed 1 to talk to them and they claimed their company name was "Home Security Systems". When I asked if they had heard about the national do not call list, they hung up on me. I called back and got a non-working number message.
FTC complaint has been filed.
