Sorry Mark, but you are wrong.  I am NOT a member of AAFP and I am still getting calls from these people at all hours.  Asking to be removed from the list did not help.  Furthermore, I cannot confirm that the Academy of Family Physicians is a legitimate representative of the AAFP.

This call is being made on behalf of the American Academy of Family Physicians in order to ask AAFP members for a donation to the AAFP's political action committee, FamMedPAC.  The number is an out-going number only, so you can not call back. Only AAFP members are being called, and only AAFP members are eligible to donate to the PAC.  AAFP is allowed to contact its members in this way, however, any AAFP member on a do-not-call list is removed from the program.  This program was approved by the AAFP Board of Directors.  The calls are preceded by e-mails and letters explaining the program and giving members the opportunity to contact FamMedPAC and opt-out of the calling program.  You may call the FamMedPAC hotline at 1-800-494-3240 for more information or to request to have your name removed from the calling list.

I got the same call several times over the past 4 weeks.  All during the evening.  I attempt to call back and it just rings.  I does appear the phone number belongs to the "Academy of Family Physicians" in Virginia Beach, VA.  I am a member of the "American Academy of Family Physicians" (note the addition of "American") and they are based in Kansas City, KS.  There is a Virginia Academy of Family Physicians but they are based out of Richmond.  There is an address for the "Academy of Family Physicians" in VA beach on Perimeter Road.  Weird.

I got this number a few times, too. I did a search and it looks like it belongs to the Academy of Family Physicians. But on the AAFP.org site, they have a different contact number. They have never left a message. And I have not tried to call it either.
