I too would never give my SSN over the phone. When I called the guy on the phone knew who I was before I told him, and Had all of my fidelity account information. My SSN wa never discussed.

Yes, I know his name, and have had additional contact with him. My rollover appears as I ordered it in my Fidelity account. I log into the same website ( Fidelity ) as I did before I left the job that I had the 401K. I called the number from written information that I got from my former employer when I left. Although I am not very tech savvy, I suspect that the number is some kind of a "catch all" that routes calls to the appropriate office, person, etc.  I left my old job to start my own business, and I now have a VOIP with all kinds of cool features, including forwarding an incoming call to the appropriate cell phone automatically, based on the number it is coming from. This is an awesome benefit, as I do not have to have someone sitting by a landline to direct calls to the right person. And by the way, I reached out to the representative that I got at this number, and he is going to be doing some personal business with me. Have an appointment for a face to face next week, so I will let you know if he is real. lol

Did you do this over the phone, or in person?   If you did it over the phone I'd be suspicious.  Better check your rollover and what's left of your 401K plus any fees or charges.  Something doesn't seem right.  I went directly to the Bank and dealt with a bank officer in person when I did my rollover.  Never would I try to do it over the phone.

Do you know exactly who you are talking to?  Does this person  have an physical office address and regular hours so you could set up an appointment with  him in person if you wanted to?   I'd check those things out.  Quicktime!

You've obviously never heard of "spoofing" - I wouldn't give my SSN to some random caller just because they say they're Fidelity.

All of these complaints seem spurious to me. This is the number that I got in written correspondence from Fidelity when I left my job and they wanted to know what I was going to do with my 401k. I talked to the representative that I reached AT THIS NUMBER and made arrangements to do a partial rollover and a cash payment. He rolled over the requested funds, and sent a check for the cash payment via next day UPS. I continue to use this number to get in touch with him whenever I need anything. If this is a scam, it is an awesome one as they sent me a check that I used to pay off my mortgage.

Prank Call
I just received a call on both phone lines from 801-828-1800 *Utah* leaving a voicemail.  His name was Carl Trusner, claiming to be from Fidelity checking on my account (by name).  He asked me to call back at 800-557-1900 x5959.
Thank you for posting previous warnings.  I won't be calling HIM back.  No brokerage should be blindly calling a client unless there is an established relationship between 2 individuals.

I got a call today morning from this number, person said he was calling from fidelity. And then forwarded to one of his supervisors. They seem to be professional and knew quiet a bit about me. He offered to help with any questions regarding the portfolio and manage it. Then he asked for account verification details etc. It sounded something fishy so I didn't gave it and instead asked call back number - he gave is 18005571900. Looks like it seems to be fraud number.

Anyone can doctor up a pdf... we are telling you that this is a scam. There are multiple instances above outlining that Fidelity is confirming that this number is not theirs!

Event Reminder
This is a call-back number to Fidelity Retirement Services. I have a workplace 401k and the Account Representative was letting me know he was now assigned to my account.

Here is a Fidelity brochure with this number:

Someone named Susie from Fidelity left a message on my phone to call 1-800-557-1900.  I called it back and it sounded like a legit Fidelity number but when it asked me to enter my login id I hung up and called the customer service number on the Fidelity website.  The Fidelity representative did a search of the number and could not confirm or deny that the number is legit, but she did say there were no notes on my account saying that someone had reached out to me.  Better to be safe and not respond to that number.

I got a call from someone calling himself William.  He transferred me to someone calling herself brandy..  They sounded very professional and knew enough about me to make me believe they were legit.  When they asked for my social, I got suspicious.  and asked for their phone number to call back.  She gave me 800-557-1900, x3538.  I called Fidelity customer service to verify.  Their official records showed that they did not contact me.  Furthermore, they do not proactively reach out to their customers and ask about rebalancing their portfolio.  Thanks to this website, a potential calamity was prevented.  Thanks.

Just called me again on 12/18; again referred to my 401k by name, something that an actual Fidelity rep told me that they would never do, especially if they were calling without your own prompting. This so-called rep from the false number asked me when was the last time I checked my account and why I hadn't done anything with it; given that I had actually spoken with a real Fidelity rep recently, I knew this to be a bogus, leading statement. I stated that I was busy and asked for a call-back number and was given this number again. He introduced himself as Brooks Lee; the voice was completely different from the one that had left me a message about 8 days prior. BEWARE THIS NUMBER!

This is NOT Fidelity! I just got off the phone with Fidelity using a real customer service number (go to their website directly) after the message I was left sounded suspicious and the callback number did not have any option to get to a live person. The customer service rep, after I told him the message that I was left, literally walked me through his script of what kind of message they would have left the customer in that instance. The phony Fidelity rep had left me a message to call him back about my two "inactive" accounts, naming them specifically, something that is considered TOO MUCH INFO to share on  a voicemail message (it's different if you've called the company and you then start talking about the accounts in detail). As a result of my call, Fidelity is now investigating this phone number.

Something is suspicious from this call. The man told me he from Fidelity and he want to help me about my 401K account with Fidelity. I asked his phone number to call him back. I check the number out. It's not any number related to Fidelity main lines. I just want to bring this to people awareness.

Why would  they call a number not even associated with the account.  Someone called my mother in laws house and was asking for me.  Why would they not call me personally.  Thats what makes it seem fishy!!!  And thats why I will not call them back.

This number is a legitimate Fidelity number. I confirmed this by calling another number I had for Fidelity and having them check it. The given number is for a group that checks up on people with workplace accounts like 401k's and asks if they have any questions or concerns.

The caller mentioned that I should called him at extension 2542 so that he can help me with my portfolio.  Something about that call lead me to check the number on the website before I return the call.  I am glad that I did.
