Probably a call center. In this case, they left a message asking me to call Geico about an auto claim.

I answered this after the third call. I had made a claim due to an accident just a couple of days ago. It was a survey to evaluate the contact and claim process with Geico and asked for ratings on a scale of 1 to 10 about different areas, i.e. knowledge and professionalism of the first person I talked to, how satisfied I was with the speed my claim was processed - stuff like that. No names or personal information was asked for to indicate a scam or anything of the sort.

I'm wondering if this is a legit business call. They followed up with me a week after my accident to confirm the event that took place. I am not 100% as to why. I had my brother call them about it while I was exchanging information with the victim. I had given him the correct information when he called. They didn't actually ask for anything other than my email, phone number and what took place that evening.

This is not actually a GEICO phone that has been calling. Someone calls and states they are GEICO from this number.

I got a message from this number, claiming to be geico, telling me I had reported an accident, and that they were investigating it, when I returned the call (They told me to call 1-877-890-2245, I get a recording telling me I've won a cruise. Called the real geico - no reported accident on my account. I believe this is a scam.

I received a vm from this # today saying that they were GEICO and they were calling me to check up on my son who was in an accident and even left a reference number and they even had my full name. The thing is is that my son is 11 and has never been in an accident and I have never had GEICO. It was very strange. I am most definatly thinking this is a scam.

It is an automated call from geico. I called them back as my policy is in good standing to find out why they called. The agent appologized and assured me that I would bw placed on the no call list. I didnt even have to ask. It seems they are working the bugs out of a new system. Annoying? Yes. Policy ending customer service? No.

Got an email from geico:
We have received a request for confirmation of coverage from your Lienholder/Loss Payee on the 2001, TOYOTA, XXXXXXXXXXXXX. Our records show there is currently no comprehensive and/or collision coverage carried on this vehicle. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-841-3000 or visit us on line at WWW.GEICO.COM to make the necessary changes to your policy.
called geico. They say no lien and was not contacted by a lienholder. Said it was sent in error. Could not or would not tell me the error that caused it. I wonder of they just send these out to customers hoping they will increase coverage. They say they don't do that. But I'm suspicious. At least until I hear back.

Notice the space between G & E...that is not an accident...it's not Geico...

I think we have determined that if you get a call from this number it is Geico calling...

I recently moved and didn't update my address with them. They found that I moved based on the USPS NCOA process, and called me with an automated message asking me to go online and update my address with them. Simple, easy.

Scenario: You pick up the phone and there is no one there...........Solution: If you don't get a VOICE RESPONSE in a polite second or two, you may be on "their" Auto-dial system. As soon as possible, start hitting the "#" key 10 or 12 times - this throws the Auto-dialer into a frenzy --- you shouldn't ever get THAT call again. Works on Telemarketers too.

It's not Geico calling
It's a fake
My home owner agent....Allstate had my insurance cards for autos faxed to them via automated requested
Without my knowledge today
I knew the 800 number was fake for Geico cause I checked before I called Geico
Not sure what the scam is but my cards were faxed to my auto insurance broker office
I will be changing brokers ASAP after I report them to th DA office

I got the call too and missed it. They did not leave a message. I called back and it sounded like a foreign person's home number; he just answered "hello" in a heavy accent. They called back again later, I answered and nobody said anything. I kept saying "Hello" and they never said anything, so I hung up. For all the people on here name-calling others for whatever reason, that is not necessary. By posting random insults online is that you have low-self esteem and must hide behind a computer to insult because you are too cowardly to do so to our faces. :)

I get on these boards and fume about telemarketers, scams and harassment with the best of them. However, in this instance it was in fact Geico. They left a voicemail with an explicit explanation: that the USPS had informed them that I had moved and they wanted to update my records. I had completely forgotten them in my long list of address changes, and I appreciated the call.
I returned the call and updated my information, and yes, it did result in a change in my insurance rate, so I'm sure that's a big part of their motivation in making these calls. However, that's how car insurance works. They were straightforward, left me a voicemail and made no attempts to deceive or harass me, so I'm fine with this one.

I recently changed my address and set up mail forwarding, but didn't inform Geico of new address. They left message asking me to update the info they have on file.

At the people who say you should answer your phone: get a life. This post is not for *ssholes like you to voice your ignorant opinions. It is Geico and they should leave a message; it's the professional thing to do. I can't answer my cell phone at work. Did you think about that before you started mouthing off?
Shannon 2012-04-18 02:29:20 Unknown
GEICO has called three times today and not left a message. This last call came in at 9:20PM. I just moved and they had mail returned.....? I asked that they not call over and over without leaving a message, and not to call so late regarding something minor.
Urge to Roam 2012-04-04 21:05:54 Unknown
I received two calls from Geico today, one from 800-841-3000 and one from 843-619-7688. I do not have and have never had a Geico policy. The message asked me to immedicately provide my financial institution and account number. This is clearly phising, even though Geico actually conducts business on this line per comments before. Be careful, be very careful!
Gaia 2012-03-27 21:02:20 Unknown
I don't have Geico and they call me 3 times a day. It could be a scam.
Ann 2012-02-06 20:57:12 Unknown
GEICO is using the same identifying number for both sales calls and legitimate service issues. If there is a problem with my payment, I need to know about it, but I don't want them calling me to ask if I want boat insurance.
ohbabyitsaims 2011-10-25 21:49:01 Unknown
Ya'll are crazy. They don't harrass when they call me in any sort of way. Dramatic much, people?? Calm down, it's going to be ok.
hinckmann 2011-10-24 19:23:26 Unknown
No kidding! If you are that paranoid to answer the phone, you should start paying your bills.
krg 2011-09-28 18:58:58 Unknown
you changed address and got dropped rate, I moved within same zip code and my geico policy went up $12. :( just got call from them with no msg left too.....probably cause I changed my addy.
Stephanie 2011-09-21 20:25:46 Unknown
Geico business line. They called me because I had an incorrect email address for my account. This is not a scam call. If you have auto-pay, something may be wrong with your account info.
