I just received a call from what seems to be a debt collection agency. While I am well aware of the debt I owe, I didn't answer the call. Instead,  I have been doing some checking. It seems that there are legitimate law offices with the same name; I can only hope they're not being harrassed by angry recipients of this number.

Next time they call, and you answer, do the Jedi mind trick: I am not the one you're looking for!

I have responded to collection calls to tell them they have the wrong number and they do not care that they have the wrong number.  I won't make that mistake again!

1-800-873-1993   Called my business today looking for (Hakalyl something something)  i think there was supposto be a name in there somewhere...... i couldnt understand it, sounded like clicks and whistles to me..   They dont take no or I have no idea who you're trying to reach but i can guarantee they are not here for an answer.    Very rude.      I'm looking forward to blowing out their eardrums with my airhorn if this continues.  Done it before!    Its amazing how quickly a $5 air horn makes them stop calling.

Let them know the next time they call you will be filing a lawsuit against them for violations of the FDCPA and TCPA for harassing a non-debtor if the calls do not stop.

These idiots call me at least once a day (morning or afternoon or night) for the past 6 months.  Debt collectors have the right to collect the debt, but they don't have the right to randomly call people trying to find the person that owes the debt. These auto dialers in my opinion are the same as harassment, I shouldn't have to tell someone (that I don't owe money too) that the person that they are looking for has never lived at this number. Maybe the government should take some of the new IRS agents and have them track down these companies who harass tax payers.

I have had great success in getting these guys to stop calling me.  When I see an 800/888/866 number calling, I answer the phone "US Attorney's Office.  How may I direct your call?"  POOF - gone for good.

I answer this call and they have a computer voice that I could not understand say a name. And ask you to push one to agree or 2 to speak with an agent. I pressed 2 and they ignored me for about 2 minutes and hung up on me without answering.

These people called our business today at 1413 hours.  There was a lengthy pause, then a woman finally came on the line to ask for one of our employees by name.  I advised her that the individual did not work in the office, could I take a message.  She declined to leave a message, thanked me, and hung up.  Wasn't surprised when I read here that they are a collection agency.

Besides your reply being ill-mannered, it is also incorrect.  I have had several cases in which a collection agency called my private number looking for someone I had never heard of.  They were advised of this, and I documented it.  Only one persisted for more than one call, and they were advised that I had logged their previous call, etc.  They did not call again.  Just because a phone number is valid does not mean it is a successful skip trace, so it is you who are clueless as well as rude.  If you tell a collection agency to stop calling you, they must comply, especially if they are calling the wrong person.  If you're the right person, you still have the right to tell them to stop calling, though you may need to send them a certified letter to make it official.

These people use the telephone like a weapon. They call disrupt the peace and impact the health of my ailing eighty year old mother, with a Huntington' Chorea like condition and partner who suffers from from Multiple Sclerosis. They come up as Solomon. They've got their moment in hell waiting, what goes round comes back around, Karma is a Grizzly business, and once removed from the big names, and big money, nobody will mind. They could have been part of the solution. So what if it stops for me, or you, they kill people: heart attacks, strokes, stress related accidents. Greed, greed. greed, greed, money. greed, money,,,,,,,ad infinitum

Yes, this is a collection agency, the third one who bought my debt from Verizon. They sent me a letter, to "introduce" themselves, lol.   I do owe Verizon for the debt, but I'll be damned if I deal with a second, third or fourth party to make payment arrangements. They always use the 800 #, and unfortunately valid, important companies I deal with use a variety of toll free numbers as well. I had to make a list of "good" numbers to make sure I don't pick up the call from these scum suckers. The first woman I spoke with was very nasty from the start. I finally told her not to call any more, and that I'd deal with Verizon directly. Then they started to call at least 4 times daily, one time at 9AM PST, on a Sunday!
They never tell you who they are, but it's about a "confidential and urgent matter", I even said a few times, "she's not here, I'll take a message", and the a**hole asks me "are you ---------?" I said "why?" and she warned me the call is being monitored and recorded. I told her, unless she identifies herself I will not tell her anything. Good that you told her you'd check with Verizon. I know it's a fact that our debts are sold to these jerks, but, I refuse to deal with them. They are now letting my phone ring up until the ring that my machine picks up!  If I grab the phone and say "hello" they slam down the phone. I hope they rot in hell. I had already told Verizon my situation and worked out an arrangement.

I got a call from this number at 8a.m. regarding my mother's "personal business."  I am the Power of Attorney for my mom and have been doing her "business" for two years.  I have never heard of Solomon, my mom is 91 years old and I told them not to call me or my mom anymore.  They wanted the POA documents to be faxed to them!  I told them "no way" and they graciously said goodbye.

Okay, here's the scoop:  The FTC will do nothing about your complain, nor, it appears will this agency.   What you need to do is find an attorney that specializes in violations of thd FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act).  They, in turn, will file a lawsuit on your behalf to stop the harassment.  It will take a few weeks to settle, but once they are served, you'll find the calls stop immediately.

These people called our company looking for one of our employees.  I told the pleasant-sounding woman that the individual doesn't work in the office, that he works on the road.  She then told me she is required to advise me that calls may be monitored for quality assurance. I asked if there was a message I could pass on to him and she declined (still pleasant) and terminated the call.  Even if the guy was around, employees don't take personal phone calls through our business.  I suspected it was a debt collector, as I've gotten other debt collection calls for this particular employee and this site confirms it.

Then I must be an idiot too - and I assure you, I am not - because I HAVE called back collection agencies who were looking for an inlaw and told them that the person is not at my phone number and to stop calling.  Only one made the mistake of calling a second time, and they were read the riot act, and then I reported them the the FTC and the FCC because I had documented the calls.  (They did not call a third time, I assure you.)  So it's you who are clueless.  If they continue calling after they've been told not to, they are violating the law and can be whacked with fines.  Document the calls and what you told them and when.  If they call again, use that information so they'll know you're keeping track of their calls, tell them you're reporting them, and then do so.  If necessary, people can send a registered letter to the company in question to tell them to stop calling but, if they're truly calling the wrong number and you advise them of that, then they're not allowed to continue calling you.  By your logic, anyone answering the phone or a recorder picking up could be interpretted as "valid number, successful skip trace" so your caustically worded criticism is pointless.

This is a debt collector after a stepson who moved out 5 years ago but still uses my phone number & address. 5 months ago was able to talk to someone and tell them he's been gone for 5 years. Calls with recorded options for paying my debt continue 5-6 times a day.
Today I called them back at this number. It gets answered by a recording that goes into an endless loop of options for me to choose. I just set the phone down and let it keep offering me choices (using my land line.) Last time it lasted 54 minutes, but the phone battery was low. Just called them on a different phone and it's been keeping them tied up for 15 minutes so far. I'll see how long this one can go on.
It would be nice if LOTS of other people could do the same thing. :-)

I push the talk button on my phone and push it again to hang up on them without saying anything.  I hope it piss them off as much as them calling my house multiple times for absolutely no reason pisses me off.  It's become a game with them.  I think I have more longevity than they do and will hold out until they quit calling, because all these type of businesses will eventually quit calling.  :)

If you call the number and press "1" to listen in English, you will hear that it is Solomon and Solomon PC out of Albany, NY.  Here is the BBB report: http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... any-ny-50028272

If this debt collector is calling you in error, i.e. you are not the person they are looking for, you should tell them so and tell them to stop calling your number.  If the calls still continue, then you should file a complaint with your state's Office of Attorney General, Consumer Protection, who will forward your complaint to the debt collector, and if they are in fact calling you in error, the calls will be stopped.

You are WRONG in your advice.  If a debt collector is incorrectly calling you, i.e. skip-tracing, and you tell them they have the wrong number and to stop calling, but they continue to call, the CORRECT advice is to file a complaint with your state Office of Attorney General, Consumer Protection.  They will most definitely look into the matter and get the calls stopped.

P.S.     So if you're wondering what the answer is, if a debt collection agency is calling your particular phone number in error, the only answer is to get a new phone number.   Period.   If it were as easy as just calling the debt collection agency and saying, "Hi! Just wanted to mention you guys are calling the wrong number, please remove it from your records and don't call again, thanks!", then do you think people would be paying thousands of dollars to go to court and/or hiring professionals to try to unravel these things?

"Best to call back and talk with them" blah-blah-blah.   True nut case answer.   If you call back a debt collection agency and say, "oh, I'm sorry, just wanted to advise you that you have the wrong number, please kindly update your records and please don't call this number", the $9.00-per-hour debt-collection clerk updates the computer record with:   "valid number, successful skip trace", and they start calling your number 20 times a day.   Idiot answer from someone too stupid to know he has no clue.
