Just got a call from this number. I didn't recognize it so I answered in a very "funky" voice. Little did I know who the call was coming from.. Special Olympics (hah) They said they were not asking for money. (hah) They asked if I had ever heard of them. " Yes but they wouldn't let me "play", She laughed and didn't miss a beat. Now came the clincher, didn't ask for money but we just needed to order some magazines. I told her I couldn't read so it wouldn't do me much good but if she could get me into the Special Olympics maybe I could talk to someone. They hung up on me.

This is from Dial America, a commercial fund raiser for the Special Olympics.
They are selling magazine subscriptions.
According to the Washington State Secretary of State's Office only 14% of the money they received last year went to the charities they were soliciting on behalf of.
When I spoke to one of their representatives, he was very polite and professional.
I would suggest if you want to donate to the Special Olympics you should go to

called, hung up. I called back to 800-9526079, got recording for special olympics. The message has an 66 number to call, which immediately disconnects.

Called 800-952-6079 back to see what it was about, since no message was left and caller id says 'unavailable.' Is a beggar for the Special Olympics.
