Just got a call from this number. They call every day around the same time and when I answer no one ever says anything. Read the comments above and called 800 767 1134 number. They asked for my card number(which I don't have) so I pressed 0. I was transferred and a man again asked for my card number. I told him I didn't have one. He then proceeded to say "oh you've been receiving calls from us?" Gave him my number and they told me they were looking for someone who was not me. He said he would remove me from the list. I told them if they call again and I answer and nobody says anything that I would be calling back to talk to a supervisor.

They call 3+ times per day and either hang up or leave recorded VM that it's discover card. I've never had a discover card. Do not give them info!!!

This must be a scam. I've NEVER had a discover card and they're calling 3+ times per day.

This is from Rob and Michelle Williams in Denver, Colorado operating under the name "Michelle Williams Limited ". Michelle operates a sex phone line and Rob hacks people's websites for ransoms. Scum of the earth!!!

801-902-2969 - they called me from Discover and immediately threatened me - wage garnishment, collections, IRS.... guess what - I don't even have a Discover card.  Do your homework, morons!

At least through Verizon, you can also set through your contacts to have all calls go to Voicemail.  After you set them up as a contact, you just choose that option in Settings.

This is Discover Card, I received a call from the 801-902-2969 number and they left a message for me to call their 800# which I did. The automated system there asked for the last 4 digits of my ssn, acct, and zip then proceeded to recite to me my valid account information, balance, last payment, etc. (which I validated by viewing my online statement). After all that, it gave me the option to connect to a customer service representative who could address my issue. 801 is a UT area code which is where Discover HQ is based. Simply call back on their 1-800 customer service line and see what's up. Once I took care of it, the calls stopped.

This number claims to be Discover credit card, then tries to get your account information. Do not give them any information. If you wonder if it is Discover, hang up, call Discover directly, then ask about your account.

I am so confused! They keep calling me all of the sudden, and I do have a discover card, but I just made a payment on it... It is SO annoying.

All day these SOBs keep calling. I've told them to stop calling yet they continue to call. I have blocked the number but my phone says that a voice mail has come in.  I check the voice mail and there is no message.  I lose a minute everytime.  These rats. I do not have a discover card and never had one.

If you have caller ID, pick up and put phone down and walk away.

This is the second number they have tried to call me from. I made the mistake of answering the first number and they claim that they could not reach me prior to this because I was on the do not call list.  I cancelled my card 6 years ago.  Since I told the person that I had not heard from them for 6 years and it will take some time for me to rectify the account, they now are calling from another number (this one).  I wonder if someone can help because what they are referring to includes interest.  Am I really responsible for it?  Thanks in advance

To save you time reading all of this:  After calling the scammers back 5 times, I called number on the back of my Discover card.  In short, the jerks at 801-902-2969 are not employed by Discover Card.

Automated message when you call the REAL Discover Card - "Thank you for calling Discover, *something in Spanish*.  Please enter the last 4 digits of your account number. Or to apply for a new account, check the status of your application, or report a lost or stolen card, press pound. *repeats after 5 seconds* If you don't know your account number, please stay on the line. *wait 5 seconds* Please hold for an account manager."

I was connected to a Utah office where an agent named Chris confirmed that 801-902-2969 does not belong to Discover Card and that the manner in which the scammers answered the phone is definitely not the the way Discover trains their agents.


Here are my notes from calling the identity thieves back five times.  There was stuttering/distortion in the automated message every time.

First time - Automated message:
Thank you for calling Dis...scover Card. Your call may be monitored or recorded to ensure quality customer service.  All of our agents are currently...*silence*

Second time - Automated message:
Thank you for cal...ling Dis...scover Card. Your call may be monitored or recorded to ensure quality customer service.

Third time same as second time.

Fourth time - Automated message:

I said, "No."
Sounding confused, she said, "Ok...Uhh...Maybe we can look it up a different way. What's your home phone number?"

was a telemarketer, irejected the call on my caller id.

got a call on my phone, put them on my reject caller id.

I just went online into my husband's Discover account.  All our phone numbers were on there.  I know I didn't enter them all in! I just do the home phone.  I edited my profile and removed every single number from it, and also removed who our cell carrier was.  I suppose we shall see!

I've been getting calls from this number for weeks! They call several times a day at all hours.  They never leave a message.    So has my husband, and they've been calling him at work.  He works at a government agency and they don't need their phone tied up with personal business!  Not cool.  Decided to look on here and see.  My husband has a Discover card (late, I'll add) but how in the world do they get our cell phones and his work number?  Is that even legal?  They have our home phone, but we only use it for DSL and don't have a phone connected to it.  The other day, it said I had a voice mail on my cell from that number.  I listened and all I heard was lots of background talking in some other language, but nothing directly to me.  They've never said anything to me before.

Somehow these jerks got my cell phone # which almost no one has because it's just an emergency back-up for me, and said I had an outstanding Discover card balance--I've never had a Discover card.  I feared identity theft, but comments on this site lead me to believe otherwise.

Got TWO calls from this number this morning, didn't answer either one. If I knew them or they really wanted to talk to me whoever it is would have left a voice mail. But they didn't so I looked it up here. What I end up doing with this sort of number is usually to assign it to "Do Not Answer" in my caller ID since I don't have the "No Ring" option (cheap phone).
