Same as all the others...this evening when I answered, the caller quickly hung-up.  I have been getting calls from this number for a few weeks.

they were rude and would not say why they were calling - i didn't know how to direct their call so I told them never to call back and I hung up

Said the Mt.Pleasant,SC fire department needed money

Got a call from this number today at my place of business.  Claimed to be firefighter association and wanted commitment to money over the phone because it costs to much to mail me a package.  He got frustrated when I told him I would not commit to anything without more information first, and he hung up on me.  He claimed to be a guy named Marvin Booth.

Don't give them any money.  I am certain it is a scam.

South Carolina Troopers Association selling phone memberships. Could not give amount or anything.. Presssure knew me and my wifes name

Answered the call although I did not recognize it on my caller ID.  Nobody there.

Just received a call from this number.... Dead silence when I answered, a few seconds passed and then they hung up.

Yes, this guy asked for my wife by her first name. I said who is calling and he said John Rope. I said what  is this in reference to and he said have a good night and hung up. Didn't answer the question, so I knew it was BS. Still it creeped me out.

Saw this number on caller ID...didn't answer. I recognized the area code as being in my state of SC.  411.com indicates it's a landline out of Laurel Bay, SC.

I got the same call looking for the business owner.  I called the number back and got a recording that this is a fund raiser and looking for donations.

looked this number up is not firefighters. call local fire dept. they are looking into it. they are going to get to the bottom of this.

Got a call form this number at 2:12pm 12-17-11. caller id. showed  only Beufort SC. so I knew it was bs. A guy asked for me personally but I just played with him and answered with a different name. He said he must have he wrong number and hung up. I figure that we might as well have some fun with these peaple.

12/9/11 3:07pm, person said my first name like he knew me, hesitated, and then said he was calling representing the firefighters. I said not interested and hung up.

"not in service" means the number on your CallerID is spoofed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing
The caller should be treated as hostile.

Called this number it has message saying not in service. What the? They just called

They are soliciting money (telemarketer) on behalf of a Police organization or so they claim.

Got call from 843-474-0183.

No message, and trying to call back get this number is no longer in service - but they called me just 2 minutes ago! I too am on the do not call lists, even for this my cell phone. However, I suspect they are using National Business License information to call on since I have this number registered as a business privately.

Received call at business from this number asking for owner by "properl" first name (that is a dead giveaway they're trying to sell something) they wouldn't leave a message and hung up. Tried calling the number back got a recorded message saying the call could not be completed as dialed.

Called, no message. I tried to call back -- recording says the number is no longer in service. I'm on all the Do Not Call lists.

I get calls from this number too!!

There are no really new numbers.  Your new number belonged to someone else, possibly as recently as a month ago.  The pests are looking for the person who had the number before you got it.  

Contact the phone company.  They may be able to block the numbers.  Or they may be able to change your number.  Be careful with that - your next new number may have a similar problem.

WE GET THESE CALLS CONSTANTLY....WE MOVED TO SC IN JUNE WITH A NEW NUMBER AND SINCE THEN WE GET DAILY CALLS.....EVERY DAY.  IM ON THE DO ON NOT CALL LIST  BUT THAT DOESNT HELP.  WE RECEIVED 9 CALLS JUST TODAY.  THREE DAYS AGO I PURCHASED CALLER ID.  THIS HOW I GOT THE NUMBERS.

PLEASE HELP STOP THIS.  ONE WOULD THINK 'SOMETHING' CAN BE DONE.
