Debt Collector
I got a threatening e-mail from this company, which I forwarded to the FTC two weeks ago and have yet to get a response.  Today I got a call just like the others have said, threatening to "serve me with papers on a legal matter" if I didn't call their number back.  DO NOT send these scammers any money or even respond to their threatening calls!!  I'm going to add this to my report to the FTC, see if anything comes of it.

Debt Collector
I'm getting the same thing as everybody else. Person named Shannon called from 855-676-9743 and said I would be served and to make sure I have a government issued ID and a witness. Gave a docket number to reference when I call back to settle the matter. When they call it always shows up as an unknown number. She just says it's a legal matter or something and never actually mentions what it is. She doesn't give a company name. These calls are so annoying. She said somebody would be coming by today between noon and 2pm. I wonder if after that she will continue to call?

I got a voicemail last night from a Shannon and she gave me this number to call. She said that I had "Be Notified" and that I need to make myself available on Thursday afternoon at work and my home because I will be "served". She was demeaning about it and acted like it was an issue to tell me about it. She also gave me a docket #. I'm not going to call the number back, esp after seeing all these posts saying the same about it being a fraud.

Just recieved another phone call on my cell phone. He said his name was Jake and would be at my home or place of emloyment by 2:30 tomorrow. And that I would need a witness and a government issued ID. He said that he had papers to serve me. Has anyone had them stop at there place of employment or home? I saw that this question has been asked a number of times but no has replied to the question. So has anyone ever had one of them go to there home or place of employment? Thank you

This MCS left a message for me on my work phone stating that I would be served with papers in the next 72 hours if I did not return their call.  Called them and the lady wanted to verify my last four digits of ss#.  I told her I was not giving her that and asked what she had on record.  She said she would not give it to me.  I asked what this was about and she said if I would not cooperate and give her the information needed I would just have to wait until I was served and then hung up on me.

The true scum-bags in the debt collection industry use this ploy all the time. They think that by calling friends & family they will embarass you to the point that you'd be more likely to cough up some cash.
By their use of these tactics they've proven that they are frauds. You can ignore them or block their calls. If you'd like to have some fun, answer and tell them that all your calls are logged and recorded. Then DEMAND that a notice of validation be mailed to you. NOT e-mailed or fax. As per federal regulations under the FDCPA. A legitimate collector will have no problem with this. A fraudulent (or Bogus) collector will either hang-up or start having a fit.
If a collector, legit. or not, does not adhere to the FDCPA he is to be ignored. He is quite simply a criminal and deserves to be treated as such. His use of a "docket #" is laughable to all but the most ignorant of his targets. All it takes is a quick call to your local clerk of courts office to de-rail that threat.
The people involved in the fraudulent debt collection racket are sub-human creatures with no honor. They are devoid of the traits that make us real. They are empty & doomed souls who operate without even the slightest comprehension of the words honesty, integrity, morality or professionalism. They are lower than the prostitute working the streets or the drug dealer working his corner.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

He's getting antsie.  Hoping to scare you into calling.  Funny in your previous post,  they offered a way to put an end to this,  by calling that number.   Then they could make you a Godfather deal to make it all go away.  Just cost a few hundred I'm sure.  Scammers   all the way...

Not going to happen.  No one can tell you to have a supervisor and copy of "Government Issued ID" on hand.   Scammer all the way,  trying to scare the beejeebees out of you.   Go to FDCPA and read up.

Until they put it in writing or actually have you served,  it is not going to be legit.   Especially this one,  so don't drop that "implied threat" thing for others to read.   It is a low life bottom feeder.

I think you people need to stop lying to yourselfs ... From reading these comments I assumed this was also fake until in took it to my attorney who told me the same things the " filing company " I think it was called MCS told me when I called that 855 # it was from a payday loan I took out a while back I believe the date was 2011 which I did take out I only owed about 300$ to them but after all the hassle of reading these comments about it being fake for it to actually be real kinda pisses me off .. So to the future readers DO NOT IGNORE THEM THIS IS LEGIT

It's been a week now and I've gotten the same type of call every day (except the weekend) but they still haven't called yet when I've been home so I can't tell them off.  Every day they say they're coming to my home/office/and the latest one said relatives *that day* to issue papers and that I must be there.  Nothing ever happens but another phone call the next day to try and scare me all over again.  Although this last one the guy got a little ruder and demanded I be available to receive the papers otherwise it would mean legal trouble.  HATE.

I've gotten this call two days in a row from "Brian Foster" but they were voice mails so I couldn't confront the caller.  They had my first and last name and it seems to be the same script..."This is a call about the sealed documentation that has been sent to my office....  I have you scheduled for service tomorrow afternoon.  I will have someone dispatched to your residence and your place of employment at which point in time you will need to provide government issued ID and have a manager, supervisor or a [intelligible] member sign as a witness.  If you have any questions regarding this documentation call the filing party at 855-676-9743 and refer to the file number: #####.  It says here that you are eligible for a stop order you just have to call that filing party and have them place it on the documentation but if I do not hear from them I will have someone come and see you at home or work tomorrow afternoon goodbye."

These same people have been calling my wife and trying to scare her into receiving papers. I took the last call and asked whom he worked for and he would not give his phone number or company. I called the local Sheriff and they just told me to hang up on these people, as they were obviously a scam.

The more questions I asked him (Brian Foster) the more evasive he became until HE hung up on me. What a load of BS.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Recieved a messages saying she would be at our home and my husbands place of employment Thursday morning regarding some legal papers that needed a signature. She was sure we know what it is was about but could call 855-676-9743 and give a case number to find out more information. Her name was shannon and she said she was a private courier.

Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  If they call back and you answer, do let them know that on the advice of your attorney (whether you have one or not) that you're recording all calls they make for multiple violations of the FDCPA.

No legitimate, law-abiding debt collector would make such threats anyway.  It is a violation of the FDCPA to threaten an alleged debtor.  Even if you do owe a debt to someone, NEVER pay a caller unless they MAIL (not fax or email) documentation proving you owe a debt and that they are legally able to claim and collect said debt in your state.

She obviously has misinformation anyway because she has my maiden name, which I have not gone by in over two years and I am self employed. The calls may not be legal, but that does not stop it from happening. If someone is dispatched to my residence, I am going to call the police.
