Company called Northeastern Recovery group, third party debt collector using scare tactics, do not fall for their scam.

This company is a third party debt collector that bought an old file at pennies on the dollar, they use the scare tactic to get you to call them and give up your information. Do not fall for it, its a lie its a scam. They will not mail you anything they say it will take too long and you will be served before papers are received. There are tooooooo many red flags here. They do not have bonds or licenses to even collect on a debt. Record everything and you have every right to sue them for violations they are performing. GOOD LUCK!!!

Ditto. Sadly, I think the legitimate collectors and firms are becoming few and far between as scam artists realize how easy it is to start up a collection firm offshore, use VOIP, ignore the laws, and simply change the name/address/phone number if the heat gets too hot.

you are 100% right like I said I am a real debt collector, I can not call your home or work and be mean, I have laws to follow.  I am doing a legitimate job, I will be happy to let you speak to everyone of my supervisors and if I did something wrong I need to know.  We are supposed to be collecting a debt its not personal and there are laws.  However, their is one law you forgot, they are supposed to say the FOTI.  If you call these people and they told me they didn't know what it was I told them then you are not debt collectors.  For each law they violate they are required to pay 5000.00 per law broke.  I told them I wanted them to take me to court.  Also debt collectors can not leave a message for you more than once every 7 days unless you ask them to call back.  So if I call you and tell you who I am and say you owe 14.00 and you say call back tomorrow then I can but if you say go to ^&%% which I hear a lot. LOL then I can't call.  We can sue but we had better have followed every rule or you will win....  I am not saying this to make my job harder I am saying all this so people can educate themselves.  These people like this make my job almost impossible, I am not rude and am calling you legitimately and expect people to do their jobs with the same responsibility.  Just believe there are legit debt collectors and we aren't jerks we are doing a job and don't like these people either.

I am a debt collector and we started getting calls from this company, I called and they will not give me or my husband any information so I finally called he gave me permission to talk to them told them I was a debt collector myself told them I have not received legal written notification, they have not given me the FOTI at anytime , which is illegal, if you owe bills and receive a notification from a debt collector it has to say this is an attempt to collect a debt any info obtained will be used for that purpose.  That's the FOTI, and debt collectors are legally required to say it on a message, the lady asked me what it was.  Told her they were in violation of about 8 laws they called my in-laws and left a message to someone that my husband owed this debt.  Told them to check the debt collection laws and they owed me according to federal statute 5000.00 per law they broke, when they were ready to send me a check they could call but to put themselves in check.  The lady attempted to say something else and I said soooo are you guys a real company, and she said well yeah I said well then why don't you say the FOTI.  Her supervisor got on the phone and said we will file papers I said please do I have a recording with times and dates you called please take me to court.

When I see a phone number that is blocked or I don't know, I Google it and see what comes up. Most of the time I ignore or block them calls. Sometimes I like to play with them as well. The dope that called me left a message. Later on had called again left a message under a different name but same phone number to call with the same case number. Comparing the 2 messages, it was the same voice.

i got the same call yesterday and today... first call came from a restricted number... gave me a number to call... and a claim number... i called them and they wanted money from me.... they threatened me with three charges and said it needed to be taken care of right away...gave me 3 different payment options... had me scared half to death... this is bull s***... and this company had to be delt with

1/18/2013 Oh guess what? He is back bothering me again. Same voice different name and new scam to scare the daylights out of you and the he is still using the same 855 number. Don't give in they want your identity.

3/7/2013 and yet another call. This time he said he'd be out today and will be out to my wife's job. (she just started 4 days ago. How could he possibly know where she works this soon?) I greeted him on the phone with his name. He paused. Started to say he is coming to "serve" me with papers.I told him I contacted local police over this because I believe there might be property damage or personal harm done to me.Told him I contacted the State Attorney general over this matter and had a great 1 on 1 with him.Told him I'm 1 step away from putting my lawyer on a retainer. He said, he was only serving papers. I asked him Serve me with papers? Who gave you lawful authority to "serve" me papers?  He said good luck to your wife......Click he hung up! I contacted police,State Attorney General and can just call me lawyer whenever. It's a scam but no telling how far these zombies will go. Better safe then sorry. But, like the other times this has happened nothing ever became of it. I believe the Attorney General has nailed a few. We're on a first name basis now...LOL!

Oh if you look at your caller ID for that call it will say blocked. They go to a phone booth in a quiet place and call then dial, I thinks it's *56 and that blocks the number so you can't call back. Probably get a walmart greeter. Actual business' that do this stuff won't do it in this way. You'd get them papers in the mail and any thing to be served to you will be from a court.

The Attorney General will give you a webpage for you to go fill out a complaint form. Mine did say this number was a scam number. 855-739-9952

People please listen to everyone one here, take the info they give and do your homework.
I'm a veteran of these calls. I don't think I ever heard of anyone serving anyone papers but, I could be wrong.
My guess is if you give them info like the last 4 of your social security number and your credit card number,
you just got your identity stolen as well as your money and are in for bigger problems down the road.

I told the guy that I needed his name,company phone number and address because I was going to contact my state Attorney General. He offered to tell me he was sorry to bother me that looking on the papers he sees the debt was resolved.

2nd time he told me again 2 days and he will be at my front door to serve papers. Said I needed a witness and a drivers license. I asked the man, what kind of beer do you drink? He said, what? I said well man if your coming and need witnesses I'm going to have a party and I need to know what kind of beer you like. Talk about stumbling over his tongue. I said, see you in 2 days. Never came and I knew it. This is their 3 attempt at trying to get my money in 2 years. Now I just ignore and have blocked the number as a scam artist.

They just called me yesterday 3/5/2013 and today 3/5/2013. Sounds like the same man as yesterday.
He'll be here tomorrow. Well,he'll be at one of the 3 places I used to live at before.

I did contact my state Attorney General and gave them the phone numbers I got from caller ID and the number they gave me to call and settle the claim. He said bet no one shows up and, no one did.

If you don't owe......you don't pay.


What a debt collector CANNOT do:

?Use deceptive practices. For example, threaten you with arrest or  trick you into paying for collection calls.
?Use obscene language.
?Call you at work after you tell them that your boss does not approve these calls.
?Deny you the right to receive a written notice (within five days after your first phone conversation) that would tell you how much you owe and the name of the creditor that says you owe the money. If you do not receive the notice within five days, call the collection agency and ask for its address and fax number. Then, send a letter to the collector noting its failure to send you the required notice. As a minimum, make a note in your file.
?Refuse to give its name and the name of the collection company when asked.
?Put a debt on your credit report if you file a dispute. It must validate the debt by obtaining a verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment from the creditor before continuing their collection efforts. The results of the investigation must be mailed to you.

Let me warn everyone that they are fake...they are scammers who are trading your info they illegally obtained somehow...this is the third group like this that has tried to do this to me.....don't not give them your info...they asked me to verify last four of my social...don't think so...they yelled at me etc...real companies won't...sick of these people...DO NOT PAY THEM OR GIVE YOUR INFO...we have a online court system where I live and there is nothing filed against me as they say....again Fake Fake Fake...keep yourself informed and read fair debt collection act and you will see they do everything against it...they don't have any true web info and there is no company info about them anywhere and if you look at the name of company for others on here they have given different names....fake fake fake fake

DO NOT pay them a DIME!! i have been ripped off more than once..if they have papers, let them come with them, for i guarantee they DO NOT have any, fake company!

these people called my father's home phone line then his cell phone, said they had papers for me to sign and would be there within 5 days to serve me papers, my father told this man i do not even live there, the man " Nicolas Oneil " said, oh, "i know where she lives"..if this is the case then why are you calling my father? so they call my phone, left a message on my voicemail. saying it's regarding a case # involving my SSN ...gave me the case #, and said i had been notified. they also called before 8am my time, which i know they cannot. i have been scammed over 3 times with these fake companies trying to bully me out of my money saying i'm going to go to jail and such, ppfffftttt... NEVER AGAIN!! warning to all...just don't call them back, or tell them you will have your attorney be in touch with them, trust me, they will cease.
