I got a phone call on my UNLISTED number..that NO BODY even has we just keep this land line number for emergency's..and I get a call from "Kerri Smith" (that was a recorded voice)  who said he was looking for a certain name and that they were looking for this person and needed to know of his where abouts ASAP an if I had any information about this person to please call back....   The twist to this is that the name of the person they were looking for is an Ex Boyfriend who doesn't even know where I live or how to contact me due to harassment on his part towards me.....HOW THE HELL DID THIS COMPANY "CCA" GET MY NUMBER THAT NO ONE HAS..AND JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE LOOKING FOR AN EX I HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY HIDING FROM FOR 4 YEARS????  It has got me scared...Should I be??

I switched from verizon, I was having connection issues that were not being addressed for months...switched to AT&T and they sent me to collections with no notice in the mail of a final bill. I got nothing and when I spoke with them today they could see that we contacted them for help several times and switched phones to see if it was a device issue and nothing resolved the issues, yet they still won't waive the cancellation fee. They are investigating it further with a technician, however, time is still ticking on my bill and there is no way for them to stop it and it may go further into collections, which I still had no idea about in the first place until I got a call from this number today. Completely unacceptable. I will not pay them and I am going to fight this until it is waived.

CCA is a collection company that makes continuous, random, recorded calls to ask for people that don't necessarily have any connection with the phone number being called.  When their phone number is called back as they request,  you can rarely speak to a person and may even get the message that it is not a working number.  The company is EOS Collection Company of America and is located in Norwell, MA.  It was previously known as Collecto.

This is a collection agency, most likely calling on behalf of Verizon Wireless, just as other posters have commented here.  When you terminate your contract with Verizon, rather than send you a final bill they automatically submit you for collection.   I just got off the phone with Verizon trying to straighten this out.

I received a call for one "George Seles" - which is NOT my name!  Came on VOX Mail - have received several of these calls in the last 2 months.

Call was not from this 866 number, but a company identifying themself as CCA Collection Agency instructed "george" to call back at this number for an "important business matter".  Said that this was an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained would be used for that purpose.  Gave a reference / account number for "George" to refer to on calling.

Hoping to put a stop to the calls, I called the number.  It rang about 10-15 times before I hung up.  Clearly a sleazy, unprofessional operation; questionable as to whether it's even valid, given their bad press on a Google search...

Had this Voicemail on my phone - I called back and a women asked for my claim number which I had, then asked if I knew Ulga Ruiz - never heard of her, she said sorry we had the wrong number and basically hung up on me. However I used to be a Verizon customer and I switched in November to Cingular - so i'm not sure if that had anything to do with this. Call asked if I was 'first, middle, last name' and if I wasn't to please hang up but if I were to hold and listen to their urgent message, then I was acknowledging who I was. Of course I just hung up but this isn't the only time that I get calls like this. Usually they're a different number and with a different name on the caller ID. Sometimes I get the same calls but looking for someone else.

I've been called 3X in 3 days - 1X 10 March 09, 2X 12/13 March.  Caller may have idnetified herself (female) but I don't recall; I've deleted the messages.  She says "this call is for George Seles" whis is NOT my name! then, she says I "need to call her back as soon as I gst this message" and that it is "an important personal business matter" (definitely sounds like a scam to me!) Last calls indicated that I will need "reference file numbers 3591 and 2337".  Based on other research it sounds like Verizon is the butt of a few scams out there!  Several weeks ago I got a recorded call from Verizon regarding my service.  Well ... just so happens I'm not a Verizon customer nor have I ever been - and with these crooks using their name I surely never plan to be!

This number just called me a few minutes ago. The breathless "Jill White", which is obviously a fake name, told me there was an important business matter. I called back and reached Alexander Shaun or some s**t. Told him to suck my c**k and hung up.

CCA, "pre-collection" company.  Called me dozens of times looking for my cousin, with whom I used to share an apartment.  Thing is, they moved out 4 or 5 years ago.  Also in the whitepages.  God forbid these morons pick up a freaking phonebook.

This number came up as a private caller who said her name was Jill White with a time sensitive personal message.  A call was placed to them and the identifying name was "CCA".  Apparently, this company is a "pre-collection" call before the company turns an account over to a collection agency.  This one was for Verizon Wireless.

I suspected a scam, and the number was calling 2-3 times a week. Finally I called them back using a calling card. Any ways, nobody answered in both calls.

After seeing this website, I called Verizon Wireless and spoke with a customer representative (since I had cancelled a verizon line 2 months ago). Indeed, it turned out that I had not paid an early termination fee (they did not send any bills either??), but it was indeed Verizon Wireless Collection Agency calling.

I kept getting calls from a blocked number and someone named Jill White would leave me a message to call her back at 866-239-9557 for an important business matter. Of course most people want call her back because we think it’s a telemarketer, right? Wrong; it’s CCA, Community Collection Agency.  They tell me I owe money to Verizon Wireless… now I know I owe them for my last bill and whatever crazy fee they come up with for canceling my contract with them, but I’ve never received a Bill from them and have been waiting for it to come. I even went online to check my account, but because I don’t have an account anymore I cannot access it. I tell CCA this; and she gives me a number for Verizon Wireless Billing Department.

I called Verizon wireless, and the operator at Verizon tells me that this is common and that he wishes they would do something about it. Apparently if you have signed up for “Paperless Bills” from Verizon Wireless they won’t send you a paper bill when you cancel you contract with them. So like me many people just wait for their final bill to come in the mail; little do you know it will never come. Instead after 90 days when you don’t pay it gets sent to CCA to ruin your credit! The kicker is Verizon is aware of this flaw and they are doing nothing about it, what do they care you are no longer a customer right. Well I will never be a customer ever again; and I will never recommended Verizon to anyone!

I have been getting these calls too, but never talked to anyone. Now I really wonder, because I do owe money to verizon for switching cell service.  Is this common practice for Verizon to shut down all payment options, including mailing a final bill to close the account. Then send the person to CCC?  Talk about poor business practices.

Actually this is a vaild Collection Company.  I switched into a group plan with Verizon Wireless a little over 1 month ago.  In the process of that bought a hoouse and had moved.  They (Verizon Wireless) sent a final statment to my previous address about my standing balance, I had just assumed that it was integrated into my new group plan (confusing billing).  

Called the 866-239-9557 and they refered me to Verizon's billing department and took care of the situation.  

Its valid.  Might I argue that it's a poor way for verizon to handle getting a hold of their customers but none the less valid.

Got a couple from "brian anderson" over the last few days, all blocked.  Blah blah very important this, very important that, important this, important everything...

I think the dude might be very important.

Just called the number and they said that they were the CCC "Community Collection Company" or something like that when I asked what the issue was (by the way I called back from a different phone) they said that it was a personal business matter and that they were not going to tell me what it was about.  The message said that the phone call was from Jill White and that was just a "ref name" to the type of a call.  I have no outstanding debt so I found this to be very interesting.  A scam for sure.  If it was a collections agency then you would have been notified by mail as well as a phone call.  Needless to say I am getting mail but it's about a "PRIZE" that I have won.  Yea Right.

Keep getting messages on my work number telling me to call about a personal business matter and that it's not a solicitation, etc.  But when I called back no one answered.  The guy on my message was Brian Anderson.  Scam?  Probably.

Got a call from this number from Anthony. Called back, told it was a call for Verizon and not a collections call but a call to say our balance will go to collections if not paid. Company is CCA.

Caller showed up as "Restricted" so I didn't answer. Heard the message and called back twice, and the phone just rang and rang. Decided to run a google search, found this, so I won't be calling back again!

These people called me too. When I called back wondering what the hell was going on, I didn't get an answer for days. Finally, someone answered with a very unprofessional 'hello' then when I said I was returning a call I had received, they asked for a reference number. Since none was given on my voicemail message, I said I didn't have one. The woman on the other end of the line was then very confrontational with me. After I gave her my name (she didn't know how to spell my name, a very simple name to spell). After I spelled it and she verified the spelling back to me, she hung up on me and wouldn't answer when I called back several times. A half hour later, I called and she answered and remained confrontational until she hung up on me again, and all she would say is that she worked for CCA and that it was a collections agency. When I asked what they were trying to collect from me, they hung up again. I won't be calling them back, this is probably some type of scam so I recommend NOT calling them back if they call you.
