FMS is a legitimate debt collection agency and does NOT fall under the "do not call" rules. If you have a debt - make arrangements to pay it or file bankruptcy. If you are NOT the person they are looking for then let them know. Usually they have done research and your name or number is associated with the person they are trying to find. If you know any information about the debtor (their current name, phone number, cell number, home address, etc.) give that information to FMS and they will promptly remove your number from their calling list.

I know this because my husband's ex-wife and her new husband seem to be in debt to everyone and I get these types of calls from many different collection agencies - I give them all the contact info I have and the calls stop. That is until the next time they default on a credit card.

I received a call from Walter asking for me to call back about an outstanding debt.  I called the number given 866-530-3819 although the caller ID gave a different number. The lady I spoke to was nice and let me know that my phone number, name, address and social didn't pull up any existing debt (which I didn't think there would be) but now I'm kind of concerned that I gave all of this information to a stranger??  The lady with "FMS" went through all of the listings for people with my exact name, all were in different states than me, and let me know it must have been a mistake.  But once again I am not regretting giving this information.

For the past several weeks,  I have received on-two automated calls per day from the company that now uses 866-530-3819. The call asks for a "Winston Smith." I am not Winston Smith-- there has never been a Winston Smith at this phone number in 24 years. I have called their number that they give and requested that my name and number be removed. I presume that they simply call all Smiths in a particular area and they just keep calling, no matter what you do. I have blocked their numbers-- they just use another number. I have filed complaints with the "Do Not Call" registry and the FCC -- and their position appears to be that this is a collection agency and therefore exempt from the legislation as they are not selling anything. It time to include collection agencies within the legislation and this means call your representatives-- or alternatly engaging in a class action lawsuit against them and several other agences who do the same thing.

ATTENTION!!!!  There are many links on the web addressing the 1-866 numbers. 1-866-530-3819, in particular.  First, this is not part of the federal government, but it is a collections agency.

I have been receiving numerous calls from the above number (and others).  Finally, just a few minutes before what I'm posting, Sep 23, 2008, I received a call.  It was that stupid number again.  When they left the 1-800-580-7611 number on my voicemail, I immediately called it back.  But this time, the recording stated if you wanted to be taken off the do not call list to call that number.  I don't remember it saying that before so I think someone has finally done something about their annoyance, but still not enough.

First it says "all representatives are busy" or something like that.  "If you know the extension of who you are trying to reach, press that extension then the pound key (#).  I thought that was stupid because they NEVER leave an extension, just that stupid name, Walter Smith.

Well I called back again and this time when it said "if you know the extension number to enter it, blah, blah, blah", I just hit the pound (#) key.  A real person actually came on the line, to my amazement!

I told them the surname they were inquiring about was not affiliated in any way with our name, family or number they are calling.  The rep apologized and stated our name would be removed from their listing.

I hope this is a step in helping to solve some of our aggravation with these numbers.  I will wait and see.

The next time you get a call from them, try doing what I did and see what happens.  By the way...."Walter Smith" is a name they use on their automated message.  I guess that's his real voice.

I received an automated call from this number asking for a person who does not live here. I believe it is a debit collection agency. I called the number. A live person answered and I asked to have my number removed from their list.

This company is a harrassing company.  They have repeatedly called and I have told them that that person does not exist.  They will not conform to the do not call list and when you do call back the numbers left and you ask to speak to supervisors the supers are just as bad.  Someone needs to stop the harrassment.  They say that they are allowed to call and collect debts but I said yes, if the person lived here.  I was harrassed and I don't have the debt.  I will be looking into the ftc website for the ramifications that they are a harrassing company.

Ok... so I see LOTS of people have had problems with these idiots.  I have received the same msg on my answering machine, with a mans voice requesting to speak to an "Antoine" something or other.  When the persons name is stated, it turns into a computerized voice.   Same message basically as all the others.  I decided AGAIN to request my number be removed.  First of all, my name isn't Antoine, or however you spell it.  Secondly, I'm a female, NOT a male!  Anyway, I called AGAIN, blocking my %# this time.  I wanted to verbally give them my number instead of having them tell me that it came up in their computer database when I called in.  It does come up on their end- they repeated my # back verbatim.  This time, as I said, I *67'd before calling, and guess what?  While that blocks your phone number when calling almost anybody, it DOESN'T work for them.  The guy repeated my # back to me perfectly, in response to me asking if he wanted it.  He wasn't quite rude, but certainly had an attitude.  Good luck getting these freaks to stop calling

Yes, I receive these annoying calls on my cell phone well over 2 months now. I noticed there were 2 flavors to this call. One says " this is a call for (some recorded name)" and the other flavor says "it is an important business matter". I thought this would go away eventually because I had a similar experience  with some other number but the calls keep coming almost daily and sometimes 2 times a day. I added this number on my cell phone as a "blocked number" but it goes to my voicemail nevertheless. Hope this crap ends soon.

Just like some of you I come home from work everyday to this same stupid recording. They say they are looking for someone name Tina (and same last name as my own) I DON'T KNOW ANYONE BY THIS NAME. Just like someone said it is a recording and they give you 3 seconds too hang up if you are not the person they are looking for....well IT'S AN ANSWERING MACHINE...it can't hang up on command. The real person comes on the phone and says his name is Walter Smith and that I should call 866 530 3819 How do I get them too leave me alone? It has been going on for weeks now, and like I said EVERY DAY! By the way he says he is with F & S Incorporated.

I received a pre-recorded call asking for me and that by staying on the line, I acknowledge that it is the person, and they state my name again.  Then a male voice identifying himself as "Walter Smith" says that this is an attempt to collect a debt; that I need to call 866-530-3819 for an important business matter.  I have been getting this calls regularly for about a month now from an "Unknown name and number".

Get calls every day which are answered by my answering machine.  Whoever these callers are, they aren't very bright!!  Automated call to automated answering!!  I hope they find the peron they are looking for so my answering machine will get a rest.  Sometimes the phone number shows up and sometimes it appears a "Out of Area".  I am never here when the calls come in so I am unable to let them know they are reaching a wrong number.  When I called the 866 number back I got a recording.

The first site will provide you with a letter to be sent to the credit company
The second site will tell you what the limits are in your state
I had to do this and after I sent the letter I never heard from them again!

Their recorded voice left a message on my answering machine, for someone who does does not live here; and that if 'I' continue to listen, it means I'm the called person.  Yesterday, their recording was stuck, and kept repeating a partial message... [They are using up my message storage space on a wrong number.]

I got repeated daily calls from this number. They finally left a message and said they were looking for a Jamie McAlister and to have him call Walter Smith with FMS. I called backed to inform them the person does not live here and never has. They said they were sorry and would remove my number from the repeat call list.

I get this on my cell phone a lot.  Just hung on and spoke to a accounts receiveable person.  They are try to reach a Walter somebody when they call me.  I asked the name of the company and he said they were "FMS".  Sounds like a collection agency.  I asked him to take my number off his list, I am not Walter.  He said he would since it is a wrong number.

We have been getting the same calls as everyone else.  We have had this number for nine years but when we moved into a new apartment, debt collectors have been calling repeatedly for a person that has never been at this number.  The message says to stop listening to your own answering machine if you are not the person they are looking for.  They have called multiple times.  I finally called the number I found on this website and they have hopefully removed my number from their list.
