They identify themselves as "Law Offices", yet when I ask them which law office, they dodge the question. Best thing to do is call them after hours (usually after 8pm EST), and leave a voicemail. Be stern; they are when you talk to them and it's the only way to get through to them. After I left a message, they stopped calling.

Why not just answer the phone and get it cleared up instead of having them leave messages? If you're so certain that it's a previously paid debt, why not get the calls ended?

Well, then maybe you can do us a favor and post the full company name, physical address, and name(s) of the attorney(s) that successfully sued you.
This would in no way expose your personal info and will be public record anyway via the docket number on your judgement papers.

Just because your debt is over 7 years old, doesn't mean it isn't owed. It means the statute of limitations is past and they can no longer sue you or report on your credit. But the debt is still owed. I though the same thing until they submitted a 1099-C form to the IRS and now I owe the IRS money for it

Funny how you said that. They called and informed me they were a law office and Federal Pacific is their client and they purchased a debt that is in statute with the intent to litigate. I ignored it and sure enough, I am now getting garnished. These people are the real deal and not some scam. I would call while you still have the option

I received a phone call from 1-877-209-4155 & I didn't answer the phone at all . A lawyer downtown says that the people can't harass you about a bill you owed to them at all . You can press charges against them for harassing you about a bill you owed to them.

My neighbour received a call from this number looking for me! How embarrassing is it that some two bit agency is calling random people that I know but not like that, kwim? As another poster pointed out, if it was legit you would receive a certified letter or a process server would be knocking on your door. My best guess is that this is what's known as zombie debt collector. Basically they take debt that is years past the statute of limitations and try to reset that statute by making new contact. In my case I owed some money back when I was a university student, some 12 years ago. Well they figure I've got a job now and if threatened, will promise whtever just to get them to go away. Trouble is, I know my rights under the law and they'll never get a dime from me. This statute of limitations varies by state and whether the debt is secured (auto, etc) or unsecured (credit card). You can check www.creditinfocenter.com and educate yourselves so you don't fall victim to this scam. After all, the creditor wrote off the bad debt years ago, why should they be compensated twice?

This automated voice keeps on calling my house. They don't state who they are or where the call is from. All it say is,please call me back at 877-209-4155 I have very important personal business to speak with you about.

Called and left message steur law; they have been burning my phone up!  Now if they were really a law firm, I would receive a certified letter if it had any importance...Idiots....I hope no one really falls for this...I think a collection agency...as description is really 800 service...I do owe $$ so my best guess

This place is bogus.  And they are calling my place of employment, which is illegal.  If I find them I am going to sue.  I am a legal assistant... know lots of attorneys!

These clowns have been calling me for almost 2 years.  I never answer unfamiliar numbers and this one has earned a place on my do not ring list.  They always leave a message stating they need a call back today, but have never stated what they are calling in regards to.  The only old debts they may be trying to collect on were mistakes and corrected by the companies years ago.  If you are reading Chad Steur Law, you will NEVER, I repeat NEVER NEVER get a call back from this one!  Have a nice day.

I've been getting calls from this 'law office' about a debt that was 10 years ago. Told her about the SOL and she threatened me with sending a form to the IRS. What's with that?!

They keep calling relatives now as well! She says she is a law office, Misty , chick, I told her if she proceeds to bother my relatives I will slept them with a law suit. My identification was stolen and things are trickling in. But they don't want hear that. So decided to do them a threat with my lawyer! Nice scam! But your messing with the wrong family.

Automatic voice tells me to hang on for a very important message.  After about a minute of music the phone is disconnected.  Yesterday I didn't wait to hang up but today I waited.

get calls from these guys who claim to be a law firm tying to collect on old debts that they bought for pennies from other scammers..  they hire telemarketers to blast phone lines all day. problem is that have no legit paperwork on anyways debts,  dont buy in to their scam.  if you pay cause of an old debt chances are its wont be removed from your credit report anyways cause these guys are ripoff junkies.

I received a call from Jackie calling on behalf of Chad Steur Law in Salt Lake City.  She claimed that I owed over $2000 on a Providian account that has to be over 7 years old.  I gave her the last 4 numbers of my SSN (should not have done that) and my mailing address so I expect some correspondence from them.  From reading some of the correspondence above I now know that my rights are and will implement them as soon as I hear from them.  Last time I checked my credit report there was nothing from PROVIDIAN on there.
