These idiots called today in reference to a car that was repoed 5 years ago.  I told them that I have never received any information on the auction amount collected and will do nothing until they provide me with this information.  They refuse to do it.
 For the other posters, I market what used to be PrePaid Legal, now called Legal Shield.  For $26/month, they will go after idiots like these that are abusing our rights.
 I am going to sue them for the difference of what I owed and call it even.

GRC Collections. Daugther defaulted on student loans I co-signed for. They sent a mock legal document claiming judgement awarded, but no court listed, no seal, no file clerk stamp, etc. They then sent a simular letter to my employer demanding garnishment, quoting lots of statutes, etc with payment dirrect to them. It looked legal until I pointed out that garnishment payments go to a court, not dirrect to debtors. HR asked them to forward a copy of the judgement, they said they would but have not done so. They would only forward the same false document they sent me I'm sure. I filed a complaint with the state DA, but chances are they won't persue it.

I just got one for my ex-husband's second ex-wife.  They told me she listed me as a reference.  Like that's gonna happen!  Told them I didn't know how to get in touch with her so then they wanted my ex-husband's info.  I'm sure it was debt collection (but she didn't say so) and it isn't the first time. Intellus lists us as related, so I'm sure they must be buying the list.  I told her to remove me from her call list.  Like that's gonna happen either!

They called me and said they wanted references for my daughter's sister in law.  I know they are collectors and totally misrepresented themselves.  I don't know how they got my number but they do not need to harass anyone.  My husband is dying of Cancer and I don't need this type of aggravation. They would not say what company they are.  I am submitting this number to the Attorney General.

Sally-Beth (oh looky a sock puppet!) -- I get these calls all the time -- for FOUR PEOPLE I DON'T EVEN KNOW.  And no matter how many times I tell these a**holes, that there is no person by that name at this number, that I've had this number for FIVE YEARS, and that they need to STOP CALLING THIS NUMBER, they call again a month later anyway.  So don't try to make it sound as if these calls are all legitimate -- because that's just total bu***hit.   I've also had calls from collection agencies for debts that had been paid YEARS BEFORE.  And they don't care... they keep calling anyway.   I can send them proof of payment, and all they do is sell the fake "debt" to someone else and a year later I get calls for the same non-existent debt.   I ask for proof of debt and they tell me they're past the date when they're legally required to send it.... well then a**holes, you're also past the date when I'm legally required to send you any information from my end too.... so go spin.  I actually had to google my own phone number and get it removed across the internet with those other people's names attached to it -- took me HOURS of hassle to do that.  And a few months later those listings cropped up again.  In the meantime, ONE of those people was listed at another address and number -- did ANY of these lazy-assed collectors bother to look?  NO!

Make whatever excuses you want for yourself -- your industry is fully of wanna-be bullies who accomplish nothing more in life than to harass people.   Quit scouring the internet looking for ways to justify your bull and get a real job.

They called my number earlier today with CID blocked AND left NO MESSAGE; I had to push *69 to find out who was calling...........which listed as coming from Cinncinati, Ohio and some unknown phone number

Tonight, they called w/unknown caller showing on CID asking that I return their phone call immediately to 877-217-3319; their message was so fast that I couldn't understand a word they said w/out listening to the message several times to get the whole message! They claimed to be General Revenue Corporation calling about some Federal Student Aid.........
My student loans are all in Hardship Deferment beause I just had major surgery last month.............SO.........I have no idea why they are trying to call me!

They have been calling my cell phone looking for someone else in my family. When asked, she indicated she was with General Revenue.

Since my number is on the do not call list and this has nothing to do with me. I filed a complaint.

WHEN THIS COMPANY ASKS TO VERIFY SS# OR BIRTHDATE,THEY DO NOT ASK YOU TO SUPPLY THAT INFO TO THEM THEY HAVE THE INFO AND SIMPLY ASK IF IT IS CORRECT SO THAT THEY KNOW THEY ARE ONLY GIVING OUT CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION TO THE PROPER PERSON.  INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING BE GRATEFUL THAT THEY AREN'T OUT THERE TELLING EVERYONE ON THE PLANET THAT HAPPENS TO HAVE THE SAME NAME AS YOU THAT YOU DONT PAY YOUR BILLS

this company is calling my work asking me to verify my social security number and birthdate. when i refused, they wanted to speak with human resources...who won't provide that information.

No one should confirm their social security number over the phone with anyone unless they've made the call and they know who they are speaking to.  So no Stoopid Sally (and you must be working for them), we shouldn't confirm anything on the phone with someone who calls us.

I have absolutely no delinquent accounts nor have I had any for something like 15+ years butI just received an agressive/menacing message as well. They used my name (which is somewhat common) and also a previous married surname which uncommon. So what the hell?

I would like this number 1-877-217-3319 to stop calling my work place giving everyone an attitude.  Natasha keeps calling with a very bad attitude, threatening.  She is asking for the payrolls number but no one will give out information.  She is rude and upsetting everyone in my agency.  My job requires me to be in and out of the office all day.  I do not often have a chance to answer my phone but when I check it and it has no detailed message, I need to take care of the important issues of my clients first.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL EVERY DEPARTMENT IN MY AGENCY!!!!!

and if a caller is phoney, they (he/she) are "phishing" and when you confirm the last four digits of your "SS#" they have, they confirmed your name with your "SS#". Then, "they" now will have your identity for their own use.

I just got a call from them. I didn't pick up because I did not know the number and I get annoying sales calls all the time even though I am do not call.

A message was left, but it was cut off. The only part of the message left was a reference number.

I have read all posts above. I have no debt whatsoever except for a car note and my mortgage and those are up to date, just as one other gentleman stated.

There is absolutely no reason a debt collector would be calling me.

And to Sally? Why are you assuming everyone is a deadbeat? I assure I am not, yet I am getting these calls.

If federal law prohibits a debt collector from divulging any information about a debt other than to the debtor, why do they (the callers from GRC) leave messages on a cell phone voicemail revealing the creditor name, the debtor name and the amount of the debt, without verifying that they are leaving the message on the actual debtors voicemail?

This lady from this number called my house and claimed that I was listed as a reference for my dad's second ex-wife.  I haven't spoke to her in almost 15 years.....wth.......I haven't called them back, but I would like to know how they got my last name and my phone number......when my dad was married to her, my last name was my maiden name.......I have been married for 10 years and I have only had this phone number for 3 years......i don't understand how they received all of my information.

SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT, YOU RECEIVED A CALL THAT WAS A WRONG NUMBER, AND THEN GOT UPSET BECAUSE THEY DID NOT DIVULGE TO THE WRONG PARTY THE NATURE OF THE CALL?  THE FDCPA PROHIBITS DEBT COLLECTORS FROM REVEALING ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE EXISTANCE OF A DEBT TO ANYONE BUT THE DEBTOR, SO IF THEY WOULDNT ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS IT IS BECAUSE THEY WERE FOLLOWING THE LAW.  BY THE WAY, GOOD FOR YOU THAT YOU PAID FOR YOUR SCHOOL OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET, BUT PERHAPS YOU SHOULD HAVE INVESTED A LITTLE MORE.  YOUR SPELLING AND GRAMMAR ARE ATROCIOUS!
