Some guy who said (after I asked) his name is Ragan Pistacces insisted I give my credit card number so he could pull up the information on the auto-renewal of Discover.  When I told him I did not want to renew, he insisted that he could not cancel that unless I gave him the credit card number.  I pointedly asked him if he is employed by Discover Magazine, and he said yes.

*laughs* Carlos has been busy. Same scam, only this time using my wife's Woman's Day subscription. How and why are these scamsters being allowed to continue their operations? I've filed a complaint with the FTC, and included a link for those who may care to do the same.

Someone called me tonight with the same hoax as the previous posts.  Claimed to be calling from Better Homes and Gardens.  Wanted to verify my credit card number so they could update my account.   Fellow claimed his name was Carlos Regan Carter... obviously did not give him my credit card number.

This company called and told me I did not pay for my subscription to a certain magazine last summer.  They threatened to send me to collection, and wanted my credit card number.  I did not give it to them.

My elderly mom just got a call similar to "Concerned" on 31 December.  Somehow they got my address and she thought it was legitimate.   The alternate number they gave my mom, traces to Florida, and a business in West Palm.  This is not the first time, she had something similar back in Mar 2010, maybe the same group, also from Florida.

Got a call from this number wanting to extend a magazine subscription. Asked for credit card number. Ran this check and got the information shown in other posts. I do not give out my card numbers to people who call me.

This number called my elderly father and told him that they were a credit collection agency and that he owed a large amount in magazine subscription fees.  They also told him that they had the first few numbers of his credit card and wanted him to pay over the phone now.  This is a fraud.  I called the magazine and warned them about this scam.  Don't answer when this number calls!!!
