Got a call from ol Steve today. He called me a little while back when i first posted the car to see if it sold which was a slick move on his part to remember that a month ago. He was pretty good talker, shot the s**t for a little while then let me in on his deal.
339 but if i referred my friends he'd do it for a cool 200. thought that was pretty odd. Also told me he was from a town near mine, when he asked about the car i told me i'd drive to meet him but he talked his way around it 4 times which really threw up the red flag. Then the guy goes on to ask me my info and wanting a credit card number. haha yeah right guy. Said he'd give me a call tm to see if i changed his mind and tm i'll give him a peice of it.
Good web site

Just got a voicemail from "Steve Winfield" who wanted to know if my Suburban was still available. He asked that I call him back on his "direct line" at 877-233-8985. I thought that was an odd message from someone who was interested in a private party car sale, so I hopped on the Internet, and look what I found! Apparently "Steve Winfield" wants to buy everybody's cars! Stay away! Stay Away! A SCAM in the making!! Avoid this he got my number from my listing on AutoTrader. Ug I hate these bull**** calls. I want to sell my car to a person, not deal with junkmail calls all day! There has to be a better way!!!

Same scam game...after a few persistent phone calls I fell for it. Then I started checking...and realized it was a scam. How these people sleep at night is beyond me. I called back...of course voice mail. Sent e-mails with this listing. Also cancelled my credit card to be re-issued and will dispute the $339 charge once it posts tonight. It's the small charge that suckers you in...and of course now they have your credit card information so they can come back and charge again...and again or whatever. Best thing to do is shut it down and file the dispute. NEVER again.

Yep was pushing for my info and credit card #. Purposely gave him the wrong number just to have a little fun. Man he kept calling and calling guess the jokes on him. Told me he makes his money off the delivery of the vehicle to the buyer not the 339.00 he was asking for, but what if it sells in my home state he makes nothing? What a joke! He is just a fast talking, shell game hussler. Wife or girlfriend probably the one who pretends to be trader secretary. What a ruse. Tell you what you can send your money to me instead and my wife and I will have a great time on your dime like he does. At least I'm honest! Just think if he pulls it off just twice a week cold calling sellers hes living pretty good. Wonder if he pays the taxes, LOL!

Do not deal with Specialty Network, Specialty Auto, or specialty anything. These people are scam artist trying to sell your car for you. They get your info from places like craigslist and dont stop calling you. I was stupid enough to do it... dont waste your time.
Brian 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
Just received this call -- Steve Winwood from 'Specialty Network' -- he wanted to get me for $339.
I told him I would have to call back - luckily I found this website.

Steve called me the other day, and just now. I hung up.
Larry 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
Unless the catch is that my car is only worth $339. Who gets a good deal then? LOL!
steve winfield 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
you are all wrong. i will pay you double what your car is worth. right now. for a small fee of only 339.00
Shaker 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
I just received a call from Steve Winfield too. I thought it weird that someone's direct line was an 877 number so I googled it, and am I glad I did. I wont be returning his call...
Tip: I didn't want a lot of BS calls knowing my real number, so I purchased a pre-paid phone and listed that number. Once the deal is done... the phone and number goes away. Not bad for $20 ;) I'd recommend it.

Got a call from John at this number, he is from a company that is trying to get me to sell my car through him for a fee.
Don't know how it works, but am very skeptical

Called and left a message on my answering machine. Said he was Steve Winfield, and that he was very interested in my Rolls Royce that I hade for sale... And to please call him back at his office on his "direct line" 877-223-8985.
I have gotten so many of these calls from car companies perporting that "they", and only they, have buyers ready with cash. They're all scam artist! And I thought auto dealers were bad... These bums who want you to buy into their marketing ploys are far worse!

STEVE WINFIELD IS A SCAM ARTIST WHO WILL TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE IN YOUR OWN CAR, DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE GUYS...
KIM 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
SETVE WINFIELD IS WITH A NETWORK THAT WILL SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFO, BEWARE..
GS 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
Steve Winfield called today and left a voicemail. He sounded interested in buying my car. I googled the # and see here that he is trying to scam me.
I've had close to 10 of these types of calls since I advertised with Autotrader. I wish AutoTrader would have a way to advertise anonymously (issue an ad # or something so you have to go to the Autotrader website to request seller's contact info).
R.C. 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
Beware! This week, Steve Winfield is Steve "Winfrey". Even spelled his last name out for me. Apparently, Steve Winfield/Winfrey is also Tony and John.
jace 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
Just got a call from him too. very pushy and actually was rude. Sounds like he's got a little "color" attitude. Started to tell me to just listen to him and that I wasnt hearing what he's saying. The worst cold calling experience i have ever had. Guys a punk... hang up on him. Or lets all call back and tell him he's a scam!
Me too! 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
I received a call from Steve Winfield, too! He left a message for me and when I returned the call to his "direct line - no extension" I received his voicemail. After leaving the message I decided to google the number. Glad I did! Thanks for the tips!!! Now when or if he calls back I'll tell him "no thanks!"
Me too 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
Received a voice mail from "Steve" that he could guarantee my vehicle would sell. Called back and said that he could guarantee me $4000 more than book price. Wanted me to sign up today for a fee of $339.00 and was filling out the paper work as we spoke. I told him that I would need to get back to him later. After checking out this site it will be much later.

This website is very handy!
I echo other comments on here.
I got a call from this guy today. I didn't take the call, but he left a voicemail. These things are scams. I wonder if he got my number from Autotrader (I don't think) or via the ad I placed in the Atlanta news paper. Regardless, these "business" are phony. Don't return the call.
MLR 2011-06-06 21:04:03 Unknown
Good call re: pre-paid phone. I will definitely do that in the future.
Just got my THIRD call from "Steve Winfield" - he won't go AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! Made the mistake of calling back from the message before I googled the number :( DO NOT call this con artist back.
