Yes. Plain and simple. They scrape the bottom of the barrel in hopes of finding someone who's willing to pay them.

I have gotten several calls from this number asking for someone that is not me. My first name, not my last. They called my parents too. The last name is not even close to mine.  I called them back and told them they have the wrong person. They were quite rude asking if that was ever my name and said my voicemail says it is. I said call my voice mail this is a company phone and i am not who you are looking for!! Finally said they would remove my number. Very weird and annoying.

It's a scam...I reported this to FBI IC3...everyone reading this needs to do the same...the problem is this scam is more sophisticated than the ones I've experienced in the past...this is the fourth one I've reported and by far the best.  Be careful.  It's our civic duty to fill out the IC3 report on the FBI's website.

It's a high-end E-Payday loan scam...I've been through this several times before...but this one is off-the-charts brilliant...They- he- uses high level banking terms and speaks very eloquently, so the professionalism fogs the possibility of this being a scam.  I reported this number to IC3- which I hope everyone reading does too.  It's the only way to stop these guys.

If they served you papers then you are on crack. They are scammers to the 9th degree. When they called me and I asked them to tell what address they had for my work, they refused, then I asked if it was a civil case since debt is not a criminal matter and all the man could do is yell at me that I was a $%^^& and that he would see me this week or next. I told him good luck getting through security at my work. I checked with the county he said the papers were filed in and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Yeah, it's all pretty funny.  I would advise against posting proper information regarding how to serve papers, etc.  Lest we give him more ammo. I'd say let him drown his own scam.

Another shill.  The con artist business must be pretty  bad, when you have to make phony posts trying to pass yourself off as repentant debtor.  Idiot:  mental sticky:  Ihat's not how debt collection process serving is done in this country.  "Carl Derry" (I"m assuming that's your phoney name) wouldn't call first; why you might believe this scam and run off if you knew he was coming.  Maybe in your country that;'s how it works.  Here in the US, not so much,  Get a real job "Carl." and quit trying to steal form people.  The FBI is on to you and losers like yourself.  see:  http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710.  I'm sure you can find a job shoveling manure; you've certainly got the experience, judging from your post.

I have received several calls from these people. They claim they have paperwork to serve either work or my house. After one of the previous calls, I call our local Magistrate and asked if they can do this, and he said that in this county, only the Sheriff's office can serve court orders, but sometimes they get over-worked and hire this service out.  After another call from these people, I asked this person WHO is their contact at the Sheriff's office, and he was obviously befuddled.  I also instructed him NOT to call or VISIT my place of work.

Recieved 3 calls from this number . I finally answered on the 3rd call and the guy tells me I owe close to $3000 for a $700 payday loan that I had already paid back. I immediately thought: Scam. A week later I received a call from a Carl Derry at a different saying he was coming to my work to serve me with papers and the only thing he could tell me was that if I didn't want to be served I had to call 877 826 4315 . I called and they demanded money again and naturally I did not pay them anything.  Unfortunately I've just had the pleasure of meeting Carl Derry in person as he just served me with my court date at work this morning. I called Ucnc Prep back and they said they cannot accept payment because my court date has alread been secured. I'm not sure if this has happened to any of you? If so do you know of any way I can avoid this court date ? Please help!

The same thing here...they say they are with PPS or NPPS and they were hired to serve the legal papers.  They gave me the 877 phone number, and it is UCNC Prep Management company who claims to not be associated with the people calling the work place or trying to serve the papers.  They do - howver, offer to take my money and threaten me and everyone listed as a reference on my original loan.

I basically had the saem experience....and I do have a legitimate debt.  However, this company is NOT legitimate, and if I paid them I am not convinced the original debt would be satisfied.  My original debt was $375 and they asked for $2948.14. They could not provide me with any documentation, and said they were not a debt collector.  They constantly called my work place, and threatened me that they were going to bring a uniformed office to my work place if they had to.  I told them I would take my chances in court before I'd pay them that much money.  In further review- I will not pay them ANY money.  They are a scam and somehow get the info on us from the pay day loan debt after it goes into collection.  BEWARE.

Left a post on here a few days ago; wanted to update. These people called my business again today and spoke to myself, and another person. Oddly enough, the name they gave us today was NOT UC and C- it was PPS.  Left the same number (that pulls up the cement company in MO) though. Were very rude & basically asked for credit card payment before this afternoon or papers would be served. Has to be a scam.

I got the same call and was very skeptical. After speaking with my attorney I decided to call and see what it was about. They were actually calling about a valid debt that I owed. After paying they sent me a fax before before I was even off the phone with a paid in full letter. Scary message but all in all they were helpful.

I received several calls from a restricted number. They call my work and cell phone giving two names, Scott something and Steve Wilson. They keep saying they are process servers and are going to serve me with a complaint and summons at my place of employment or home and my only recourse is to call 87-826-4315. There is no information on this number on the internet. I told them I am in bk and gave them my attorney's number and they said this has nothing to do with them. when I call the number they gave me it just says American.

Does anyone have similar experience, information or advise.
