A telemarketer offered me a lower interest rate on my VISA card.  I asked the man who he worked for.  He replied:  "Lower Interest Rate Department, EDR Financials, New York."  I am on the "Do Not Call" and do not appreciate these calls that interrupt my day.

I received a similar call as everyone else wanting to lower the interest rate on my credit card. I recorded the call and posted it on my website if anyone wants to listen.

Chester?  I am pretty sure you look these comments up before you go to "" work "" everyday.
So here goes: does your mama know what kind of fine individual she raised?
Can you really look at yourself in the mirror without shuddering while shaving?
What if it was your papa or mama that got a call from someone in your office?
And this is just to let you know I read all the other comments and I just wanted to advise you that when you come over to my house ( since you have all my info...) I will make it easy for you to come kill me with your crowbar, and leave the doors unlocked. Just don't come whinning when you end up on the business end of my 357 mag.....just so you know......

Good ol' chester,
Now,seriously, would ANYONE in their right mind name a child Chester McKoy??
The more I read, the more these people are sick. I hope some gov. or police organisation stops them soon. They  talk a real good talk and I am sure some poor, older people got sucked into this. They should be strung up and left to rot.........................................  exactly like when the REAL Mckoy's were around..........

Got a call from EDR, letting me know that I qualify for lower credit card interest rates if I owe more than $6,000.  He stated they work for visa-mastercard.  I asked for information to be mailed to me, or for them to give me their website.  He argued.  I stated I was not interested and hung up.

About 10 minutes later, I received a second call from "Chester McCoy" at EDR, again offering me lower interest rates on my credit cards.  He stated that, once I consent, they will confirm the amount owing on my credit cards, and if I owe over $1,500, I will qualify for lower interest rates (but the earlier phone call stated $6,000).  They will then 'act on my behalf' and get lower interest rates.  They allegedly work for all the major banks and credit card companies.

As I never do anything over the phone, I asked for company information.... all he gave me was their phone number 1-877-870-4015 and asked me to call them back.  I could ask for him (Chester McCoy) at extension 121.

I checked the BBB.... no company name exists (with or without BBB membership).

Beware!!!

I also recieved one of the Phony Calls from EDR offering me a lower interest rate and since I had an excellent payment History I would get a good rate. They requested the 7 digit number on the back of my Credit Card and that sent up a HUGE red Flag. I challenged the Caller and finally she gave up. Sometime later in the Day  I got another call from another Representative of EDR because the 1st Rep thought I had some unanswered questions.I got another load of Bull from this Guy and when I told him I would be reporting the calls and contacting my Bank he hung up. Beware!!!!  they can talk the hind legs off a Donkey,I'm sure they have conned a few unsuspecting souls.

This number called and asked for me by name. I just kept asking who wants to know. He said his name and then kept asking me to say his name. Then he said that I left my groceries at the superstore. I told him that I haven't been to superstore and that there was not one in my community. He said Oh yes there is, so I asked him for the address of the superstore, to which he replied by reciting my address back to me. Then I got mad and said "who is this?" and he hung up.  Sad thing is that Telus is not willing to do anything about these scammers!

Caller claimed to represent EDR services, supposedly about debt reduction and they deal with banks and due to good payment history they will offer me a good rate. I challenged him on how he got my info if he is not working at my bank and why he is calling (i am on a do not call list). I told him firmly I only deal with my bank and nobody else when it comes to my bank affairs.

Caller asked for me by name, said calling about my visa-mastercard... Stated they were going to lower my rate to 6%-- bank rates. Asked to verify the number they had called. I asked which card they were calling about. He stated MC. I said but you aren't from MC ... few minutes of silence then a hang up.

Caller had american accent. Definitely from a call center.

I got this call too, very annoying!

Clue #1: There will NEVER be a time that a credit card company will voluntarily call it's customers to offer to lower it's interest rates..even preferred customers have to request it.

Clue #2: I confirmed fraud soon as he claimed I had an "RBC Visa" card. ( i had to ask him what kind of "Visa" i had). The call dropped after i asked him to confirm the supposed card number he had on file.

I also called the 877 number and was told by a recording that the call could not be completed as dialed.

My advise to people who get calls like this, NEVER offer to verify information TO them, always make them give you the information for confirmation. Also, use your gut instinct...if it seems to good to be true.... : P
