Has anyone called to get the info about their credit card balance and their call has been transferred to DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE .!!!! and they are giving free gift cards from our choice of WAL-MART or TARGET ..!!!!??? from Buyers Edge and My Advisor ..!!!!!?? or $100 Gift card from Dental Direct or USA benefits. . . !!!! and they ask for shipping and handling fee of $11.88 and $7.98 .... and later on they put you on an automated voice ..!!! i.e. IVR ..???? for your confirmation code or authorisation code ..???

got the same thing from a diffrent number, 1-877 261-6519 for a $100. card.  They wanted me to send them $4 for shipping payable with only a credit card.  When I refused they got angry and couldnt even speak english

Man of indian decent with thick accent contacted me and verified my phone number. I said that is the correct phone number( I should have said NO!). He stated I`ve won $200 dollars walmart gift card. He gave me the number 1877-876-8943 and the activation code is Xr3551448. I did some research and found this place.

I received a call at 10:00 this morning from a female with a heavy accent (Asian?) who told me I had won a $100 Walmart gift card and was to call 877-876-8943 and give the gift code XF268497049.  She didn't ask for any information and I volunteered none.  I do not have caller ID, but if this continues, I will get the number blocked.

I just got the same call! It was a foreigner said I had won a $50 Walmart card because I recently visited Walmart. But the funny thing...when I visited, I did not give Walmart any information about me. Right then, I knew this was a scam! The caller gave me a give card number XR92354783 to call another number to redeem my gift card. At the end of the call, he ask me was my last name Jones, its not. WoW! If I visited Walmart and they knew my information, don't you think he would have gotten it right? Just be careful. 'Tis the season to be SCAMMED!!!

I KEEP Getting calls from these people and I keep hanging up on them.  There is never a phone number, the caller ID always comes up as "Unknown Caller".  Had my husband not deployed and called me often from another country making me familiar with this ID I would not have suspected that this call is from outside the U.S.  Today, I got my 5 call from this another guy that sounds middle eastern or maybe even Indian.  Very thick accent.  As soon as I say hello, he says "Maam! this is not a scam!  Just write this code down and call this number and you will recieve your $50 gift card."  In previous calls he wanted me to verify my information and he even got mad at me for asking too many questions.  I suspect that I am getting calls from the same guy since he knows I was suspicious of him and this is why he spoke to me this way this time around.  Anyway, the number is 877-876-8943 Code# XG227954669.

I got a call stating I got a $50 gift card for walmart with a gift code. I asked how they got my tel. no. and they said I was randomly selected by from the telephone book. I called the tel no. they gave me and when I asked where was I calling they said it was Real Value????. So lthink it is a scam. I will be called tomorrow for a survey I dont know what survey???

I got a call on Thanksgiving Day, though our offices were closed and I was not here, however my boss was here and anwered my phone. He asked for me specifically. My boss said we were closed and he hung up. Then yesterday, a heavily accented Indian man called and said I qualified for a $200 gift card and I cut him off and said 'no thanks' and hung up. He JUST called again, this time I wanted information! I asked him, "How did you get my number???" He stuttered then said he worked for a promotional company in Phoenix AZ. (Yeah Right!) So I took the number and code he gave me because I knew it was a scam and wanted to have something to check on. The number he gave was 877-232-5160, Code D277630005. He was very rude to me and he insisted I call immediately! He was almost angry.

Same as above. I got a call from heavily accented Indian man named Michael. I told him my first name but gave him a false last name as I was skeptical of the call. the number he told me to call was: 1-877-876-8943. My winning code was XB79927159. I didn't call. I didn't give any extra info. It looks to be a scam. who calls my number and asks me my name? Really. NOPE! Not happening bub. Beware

A guy with an obvious accent from India or somewhere in the middle east called and simple said 'Call this 800 number to get a FREE gift card from Walmart'. That alone sounded suspicious to me but as I stayed on the phone trying to get information from him he just kept saying 'you don't have to do anything, just use this authorization code that I give you and you will get a free, $50 gift card from Walmart. The most I got out of him was that he said his name was Matthew (yeah, right).

I DIDN'T call the number but instead called my phone company to check out the number he gave me. The phone company told me that it was a scam and not to call the number or use the authorization code. They also told me that they have no way of tracing the number because it's from another country.

Diferent number same story

Received a call from a middle easrern, perhaps indian as many off shore call centers are on that part of the globe, with a heavy accent and gave me a code id and a phone number to call back right away and claim a $200 gift card I supposedly won from a department store. He just kept talking over when I asked which department store in what town and on what date did I make my purchase.

Then i searched for gift card scams and sure enough i come accross many of your similar stories.

Caller had thick Indian accent.  Identified himself as Michael.  We do not have caller ID, but he said to call 877-876-8943 as we had won a $50 Wal Mart card. My daughter had answered the phone and he acted like he couldn't understand her when she asked him what company he was with.  When he apparently did tell her, it was not understandable.  When he asked for her name, she told him we are on the no call list. He didn't seem to know what that was.  When she explained, he started actually ranting at her for not telling him that at the beginning of the call.  Needless to say, she hung up on him.  We live in Missouri and will also report this to our state attorney general's office.

I also recived a call from 1978570232 telling me I won a $50 Dollar gift card, I just had to call 877-876-8943, and give them a confirmation code D258293326

I keep geting calls from 1-978-570-2232 Wilminton MA. I finaly took the call and I was offered a $50 Wal-Mart girt card by a man with a very heave accent. He gave me a code and told me to call # 1-877-876-8943. He made sure I repeated it back to him. He told me 2 hang up with him and call right away. It's a scam. Don't do it!!!!!

Same as many above: my girlfriend answered the phone and was asked if the caller could speak to her mother. (?) After sp,e confusion, I ended up with the phone, at which point the guy gave me the following "gift card" number and toll-free contact number (I'm guessing to redeem said card), respectively:

He then verified the phone number and asked me to "confirm" my name. At this point I asked what name he had on record that he wanted me to conform and he apparently didn't have one. he started to panic a little, trying to get a name and I hung up.

Received phone call from Shopping Essentials stating that I had won a $50 Wal-Mart Gift.  They would not answer my questions and continued to press me for verification of my address or and the spelling of my name.  I hung up because the person was pressing for information.  I called the 877-876-8943 number and after about 5 mins someone answered.  When I began to qestion the person stated they were in Phoenix, Az.  When I asked for the addresses, the person hung up.

I live here in East Tennessee and got the same call from an East Indian call center. Heavy accent voice tells me "Congratulations"!!! "You get a free $50 Wally World card." Catches? No catches. Hoops? No hoops to jump through. Baloney I say. "Really, it is just being for free sir if you are calling right away with the Gift code"
  I'm no idiot. I've been around the block so many times I've worn a wolf circle around it. So I call the number to see which scam this is exactly. I love making those calls. Surprise , surprise, another heavily accented middle easterner answers. I lay on the thickest Mexican accent you've ever heard and dig for details while dolling out the biggest headache this poor woman has had in months.
  Just what I thought I'd find.  Discount programs. Free trial first month, automatic charges thereafter. "No obligation" they'll assure you. You can cancel before the paid subscription period begins, they'll lie.
  DON'T give these Vultures ANYTHING.  First they sign you up with two outside companies who kick them back a fee. Then they sell your info to every listing company that will buy it, so that you can enjoy a deluge of phone calls, e-mails, and junk snail mail.
  But those first two outside companies will not let you cancel. They will tell you that you entered into a contract. The money will come out of your account. You will not be able to stop it. The bank will tell you that only the party initiating the withdrawal can stop the auto-drafts. You will pull out your hair, then close the account. End of story.
  How do I know all this? Like I said before, I've been around.

I got the same call today.  They had the town that I live in wrong.  They had the town where I attend school.  Hmmm....

Got a call saying I'd won a free Walmart giftcard. Called the number and supplied the folks there with the giftcard code. They tried to get me to try two of their products ... I hung up.

I was wondering what State you are from? I'm currently living in NY State and a friend of mine received a call from these people and was offered a $50.00 Walmart card for only $3.97 as long as he gave them his credit card informatio; of course he didn't. I contacted Walmart and was told they do not solicit through telemarketing. This is a scam!!!!

Can you please tell me what State these telemarketers are calling. What State do you live in? Thank you.

Got same call to call 877-876-8943. Called it and was told I would receive $50 gift card plus a $100 cash card for doing a 30 day trial for something at which point I said I didn't wish to do a trial and she politely said thank you and hung up. Not sure but this may be a legit call for some service which they charge you a monthly fee for and you probably must be member for a year or more so that you wind up paying for the gift card anyway.
