Same story as everyone else above... Basically the call came from 231-732-2364 (a number that is "not in service"). Asked to verify my business info, wanted to charge a "one time setup fee" of $5, no mention of any future charges. I was hesitant at first and asked a million questions, only after being reassured that the $5 was the only charge there would be I agreed. I know, stupid me, I'm a sucker. After giving my cc info she read through a disclaimer that mentioned "trial period", at which point I stopped her for clarification. Meanwhile I'm Googling the info and found this site. Reading others' reports of a monthly charge, I asked her about it. It took me asking 4 times before she reluctantly admitted that there would be a $39.95/mo charge after the initial 30 day trial. I was furious - told her to cancel the transaction.

Additional weirdness: She had the Indian accent that others mention, but claimed she was in the same town as me and wanted to come by to check out our Grand Opening sale. She said not all their clients were given this offer, but that she'd put us at the top of her list for some obscure reason. She gave her name (Jade Summers) and a "License Number 2551" - what kind of license does one need to make telemarketing calls anyway? All an attempt to sound more credible. And I don't believe for a moment that her name is "Summers". So far no charges on my card so perhaps they really did cancel the transaction at my request, but I am kicking myself for being so gullible in the first place.

Someone in our office agreed to this service and gave him our debit card. We never received email conformation on all the "services" they were providing our business, only a monthly debit of $29.95. We have had this happen before when they would call and want to update our listing, if you answer YES to your company name, address and phone number, they change the order of the call to record you saying YES and aggreeing to their services. We were charged a monthly fee on our phone bill. DO NOT answer yes to these people! Bark like a dog, quack like duck, but DO NOT SAY YES. Scammers are scum suckers who can't get a legitimate job.

I received this call and thought he was legit.  I had listed with Real Local Pages - not the platinum said $5.00 activation fee and try it for 30 days and I could cancel anytime within the first 30 days.  HELP!  I know now that I've been scammed.  How do I stop this???

They called me today but I never gave them any credit card information but they got me to say yes through everything. I hung up on them through the third verifcation step but they called back twice I work at a newspaper and I don't have caller id in my office so i answered it and i just finished the conversation so they would leave me alone. Can they charge you through your phone bill? I have to talk to my boss about it tomorrow because he will be the one paying for it if anything happens. I hope the FCC can take these guys out because I don't appreciate getting scam calls while i'm trying to work.

i got a call from a "reallocalpages.com" representative called "mary lopez" that had an indian accent (and couldn't answer my questions in spanish, some "lopez" she is..haha). so she's verifying my info, and wouldn't accept "yup" as a response, it had to be "yes" or she wouldn't continue(so i answered "yup" every question after that.) the whole time she mentioned "free platinum listing" then said there's a $5 set up fee and asked for how was going to pay..i said 'paypal' and she was like "i don't think we accept paypal, i'll ask my manager."(and didn't ask anything), and again proceeded to ask me for a different form of payment. i cut it off right there. red flag after red flag went off and now reading everyone on here saying the same thing, they got more complaints coming!!

This is almost EXACTLY what happened to me. I was asked if I was someone w/ authority to change telephone and address info for my business. I said "yes". Now this VINCENT person(1st calls were from "Indian" accent people) has me saying my name and "yes" on an obviously "doctored" recording that states I'm purchasing a plan(of which I have NO IDEA) for 12 months at $49.95 per month.  Now he wants to send the 599$ bill to collections!  I asked to speak w/ manager, and he said HE WAS the manager...definitely NOT manager material. Extremely rude and harrassing. No other # to call on the emailed-invoice (which has the wrong mailing address) for the company except one to leave a voice message on. Called a lawyer and a local news station to see how to expose this scam!

Thats exactly what happened to me last year and it cost me thousands until  Icould get it straighted out. They said is this your address...********** You answer yes....I told them (when they billed me automatically through my phone bill) that I never agreed to anything...The yplayed me back a recorded message where they say "do you want the service" and you hear me saying "yes"  The thing is, I did NOT say yes to that only to a correct address. You could here where it had been cut and pasted...WHY do busineses suffer the consequences for this and how can they legally get away with this. there was nothing I could do. I fought with everyone. The bad guys really do get away with murder!!!

I recvd a call from an Indian gentleman from Real Local Pages.com.  He was verifiying my business info and said his company "Real Local Pages" is a free service.  They can provide me detailed listings of my business services and even a website (which I don't need, I'm a webdesigner).  I told him I don't really need his service and there has to be a charge for all they he could provide to me.  He started getting snippy with me asking, "How can I get money from you if you don't give me your credit card, ma'am.  This is a free service year after year."  As I was talking, I looked up www.reallocalpages.com.  It looked like a real website (easy to do).  Then I Googled real local pages, while on the phone, and found a few blogs where people were having problems with this company.  I started asking more questions.  He was getting nervious and even more aggressive.  I questioned perhaps a charge on my phone bill?  No way, there will never be a charge for this service.  He handed the phone to another Indian man, even more aggressive.  When he couldn't answer the questions, he rudely hung up on me.  I called the number they gave me: (888) 212-1334 and spoke to American speaking Havier who explained they do outsource sales.  Havier stated that the service is billed on my credit card or thru my phone bill and would be $29.99 or $39.99 a month.  I told Havier that they have an outsourced sales dept (in India?) who is lying to customers.  He took my number to investigate. **Sounds like a good service for some, but it isn't free as advertised.**

I have filed a formal complaint against with the FCC against REALLOCALPAGES.COM and the phone number 888-212-1334.

I have provided a link to this page as evidence of their refusal to remove people from their calling list when it was requested by the individuals. That alone is grounds for violation of the guidelines they are required to follow.

If you know of any other numbers they are using please post them here for the FCC to investigate.

This went on through everyday of the week and I said NO! NO! NO! don't call never. I asked if he was stupid and what part of NEVER did he not understand.

It has crossed over into harassment now and I am taking action against this sorry bunch of indian trash.

I was called asking me to verify our business's information and that they would list us in the yellow pages. They then started to explain fees and asked me if I had signatory capacity over the corporation's phone bill. When I said no to the recording, the Indian man told me to just say yes. Instead, I hung up and gave the info to our CEO and she didn't want me to ever answer their calls again until she calls this number, and I won't.

Caller was a foreigner using the american name of Mark. He wanted to update my on line yellow page ad. I told him we are not a part of the yellow pages on line and don't need to be and to please not call again.
We have been called many times over the past year and each time they call I ask for their phone number ....most of the time they hang up but today I got one of those suckers to give me the phone number. When I ran the phone numer through google here I am. I knew this was fake and I don't care what they try to tell anyone who will listen...they are a scam.
My suggestion to all of you out there make your parents and family members aware that we are coming into a lot of scam artists and people are making desperate moves to get money any way they can. Caller
ID needs to be in every home and my thoughts are if you don't know the number or name don't answer!!!!It saves a lot of agravation. For business we unfortunately have no choice but to hang up on them...they are relentless and will keep calling because they think someone will eventually get taken by them!
The Federal Government can add jobs by hiring people to get these scammers and punish them....unfortunately we will never get rid of all of them but with how many are out there now we could reduce it!!!

My cousin and I started a small transport business. After I filled out all my of my forms and license applications for the countless government agencies (and $$$ later) I started receiving solicitation calls from dozens of services and agencies (it's real nice how the gov't posts your info on the net for all kinds of spammers to use). One of the calls I received was from this company, 'online local pages'. The man explained their listing service and said that I should expect to get a noticeable increase in business, and they include a tracking service for me to see how many web hits my business is getting. He also told me how that I would be able to cancel my service if I was not pleased with it. I agreed to the trial. They took my charge info, and that was that. My bank's fraud service department called me a few days later and asked me to verify the $5 purchase. That should have been a serious red flag for me right there, but I guess I'm a fool. Months later ($29.95 a month), and not a single business referral call from this great service. I did however, receive many phone calls from a private number, always with an Indian man asking me if I was [my business name] and located at [my address]. He never told me who he was with and never asked for any additional info. I called the 1-888 number above to cancel my 'subscription' about nine weeks ago. The man I spoke to gave me his first name and assured me that my service was cancelled and there would be no more charges. Well two months later, there are two more charges... I called them again to contest these charges and to make sure that there will be no more. The lady that I spoke with told me that there was no record of me calling them, and that I already received my 'services', so there will be no refund. She again cancelled my 'service', and assured me that there will be no more charges. I told her that I've heard this before, and they are taking my money and I have not gotten anything from them. She started to go through some familiar speech  about how the listing service was explained to me, and that I agreed to it. She recited a couple lines in their sales pitch and told me that I will see an increase in business... Really.  I'm no w going to go through my bank to handle this.

We too continue to get call from this number.  I am not the owner of the business and continued to insist that they speak with the owner.  By the time I hand the phone call over to the owner they have hung up.  Today, I listened and went throught the spill, I told her I did not want to do it but she continued on.  She kept insisting everything was FREE, again I told her I was not the owner, apparently it doesn't matter.  After about 10 or 15 mins of wasting my time, she finally said it was just a free trial and after so many days they will start billing us whatever amount.  She said this last part extremely fast and I almost didn't catch it.  I then told her we do not want it even as a free trial, she then continued on, I told her again I did not want it, I finally hung up on her.  She has called back two or three times while I am typing this.  I am ignoring her call and will let the owner know about this.  I am tired of these phone calls, have been very nice and cooperative, but I am busy.  We DO NOT want it! How many times does one have to tell them that?  For weeks now they have been calling, if I hang up on the woman, a man will call back.  But I won't be so nice next time, I know the owners won't be either!  They are tired of them too!  Just STOP calling- WE DO NOT WANT IT!!!  WE DO NOT WANT IT!!!  WE DO NOT WANT IT!!!

Caller sounded like he was from India.  He said his name was Mark.  Wanted to verify information listed for a free platinum listing.  No long term contract.  Try for 30 days and if want to continue, pay $49.95 a month.  Gave 888-212-1334 as phone number to call if had questions.  Said website was www.reallocalpages.com.  Email address is cancelreallocalpages.com (I think he left out the @ symbol intentionally).  He asked for email address to send information then wanted to connect me to his supervisor to verify he didn't give any misleading information.  That is when I hung up.  Immediately received a call from 770-247-5771 listed on Caller ID as "Georgia" (called # back and has recording saying "this number has been disconnected").  He said we were disconnected and asked if I had been talking to a rep from Real Local Pages.  I said "Yes."  Then HE hung up!  I have heard that if these people can get you to say yes on a secure line, they will put something of their own devising that they can "prove" you signed up for when you in truth did not. Hopefully not!

Our business is contacted constantly by reallocalpages.com.  Reps often try bully technique; won't take no for an answer.  One even tried to tell me we had been using this service for over a year and we now owe!  Said he'd turn us into collections!  What kind of business gives you service BEFORE payment--for a year!!  We usually just hang up on them.  Got a call today from a "Timo Cruz".  Slow day at work, so I let him do his full spill, over and over and over (I was bored and love wasting their time the way they waste mine!)....1 month free, 49.95/month....He claimed I could not sign up online, could not call him directly, but gave me this 888-212-1334 number.  Told him I'd "have to look into it".. this is what I've found (so far!)

The reason why the caller id appears on your phone was from california is because we are using a dialler to dial those numbers, so it means that we have different routes all throughout the states, but the main location of the company is in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Regarding your appeal regarding Sophia and Michael, I think they are just doing their jobs, and to think, they are not scamming you in anyway.

it doesn't mean that if we're collecting credit card info, we're already a scam. The $5 that we're collecting is really an activation fee and it will be refunded if you'll cancel within the 30 days. Our promotions are legitimate and "IF we're really doing a scam, perhaps a lot of people are already making complaints."

Classic scams unltimately want Credit Card or Bank Account information.

Eugene from the Phillipines calling from RealLocalPages.com.  Got all business info for free listing on YellowBook.com, Superpages.com, Reallocalpages.com, Google, Yahoo and MSN.  Free featured listing for 1 month.  After that 29.95 if we choose to continue.  Catch...needed $5.00 set up fee for free feature.  Needed credit card info or check by phone.  BINGO.  Classic SCAM.  Call came in as "Unknown" but he gave me the 888-212-1334 number to make any changes.  Says he's emailing me info about the program.  But again, wanted credit card or bank account info.

Sophia Morales was the person that contacted me and said that she was with the reallocalpages.com and she persisted to get my business card number and I asked her to send me the information first, but she was reluctant to do that. After a while I told her that I need to see some on email and a phone number, and she sent me an email with these links:  https://www.reallocalpages.com/signup/?discount_id=Global2 and https://www.reallocalpages.com/g20
Once I refused to give her my business card number she passed me to the "Product Specialist" Michael Adams and he too tried to talk me into it and I said that I will fill out the information online and he said okay. Also Sophia Morales said that I will get a confirmation number on Monday. The call I received is 09:43 a.m., June 6, 2009. They claim their location is in Fort Lauredale, Florida, but the number from the caller ID is from California.
