Thanks for the post. When you get a call telling you to press a number, hang up. What are you pressing a number to get? If a company says you bought something, can you prove you didn't? If there is a "problem" with your credit card, or bank account - you call them. With a number from the phone book, back of card, or statement. NEVER give personal information on a call you did not make (using numbers you got, not ones from email, fax, or text)

July 10th, 2013 - got a call from 1-888-302-5297.  They told me that my Visa Card from (Southern Financial Services) was deactivated, and to turn it back on, I needed to press (#1).  It seemed that (#1) could mean to process some financial issue.  So, I hung up.  I have never heard of (Southern Financial).

They had my name right.
They had my Cell Phone right.

They are gitting information from some place.

I just received a call from this number and it was an automated voice claiming to be from a bank that I've never heard of. It says that my debit card has been deactivated and that I need to stay on the line to reactivate it. It was an obvious scam so I hung up. I am on the Do not call list. I'm seeing multiple reports online for this same phone number. Please report to the FTC if you get a similar call.

Prank Call
This number calls, leaves messages regarding "your Visa Debit has been suspended. To learn more, press 1." Nothing happens when I press one. In contacting my financial institution, I was told that this is a common fraudulent call. I was also advised to contact the Federal Trade Commission at 877-382-4357 or to file a complaint with them at www.ftc.gov. By rotting this, we can help to stop these perpetrators.

They call me three to five times every morning. I have never answered because I know it's a bullsh*t number. They usually stop calling around 2 PM but then pick it up the next morning and keep calling.

Telemarketer
Called and said they are from member service - they are selling health insurance i have been receiving calls from them for almost a year now and as soon as I ask to be removed from the list they hang up.  I tried calling back several times and asked for a mailing address to forward a letter to be removed again they hung up.  My last call I asked the individual that kept answering and hanging up on me how did it feel to keep getting annoying calls interupting her day ... and she hung up!  this is ridiculous, I am on the do not call list have been from some years now, I add the numbers to my phones rejection list and they just call from new numbers.  I have also reported these calls to the FTC...my next step is to file a consumer complaint against these individual...I will keep you guys on notice because maybe we can do a consumer class based complaint...Let put an end to these unwanted calls!

Recently received a call from this number.  It was a heavily automated voice indicating that my debit card was deactivated.   I was asked to 'press 1' to talk to an operator for next steps.  This sounds like a total scam call. I will be reporting this to the FCC. I encourage others to do this as well.
