Back in 2012, Mr. Number used to use members' smartphone address books to populate their number listing. In late 2012, they were sued for violating privacy of the third parties who might not use the app, so they discontinued this practice.
Additionally, for Androids, they include the option to block incoming calls and texts from any number on the user-defined blacklist. Apple, in all their monopolizing glory, are quite particular about such things. The new IOS versions include a setting to block calls from certain numbers, but those contacts need to be in your contacts list. I imagine you could set up a "do not call" contact, and add as many phone numbers as you want to it, to reduce the number of contacts in your list. But, this option would only be most effective for spam-type numbers that you might not ever want to call or receive calls from.

Based on the info here, although they didn't leave a message, it is apparently Discover Home Loans. I recently applied through Lending Tree and Discover was one of the servicers that emailed me wanting to offer a loan. (It's not not scammers).

Lending Tree. I signed up to get a couple of quotes for a home refinance and have been bombarded by 7-8 companies, including them. They will call 2-3 times a day. If you don't pick up in a ring or two the automated call system they use cuts off, so it seems like they don't speak or hang up on you. Just try to answer quickly and let them know if you are interested or not. Once they speak with you they will stop calling.

That app, Mr. Number is only a reverse look up application for White Pages.

July 5, 0930 MDT. Same nonsense, on my cell phone. That's illegal, as I have to pay for part of the call. I'm on DNC list, dosn't seem to matter. I have never applied to Lending Tree for anything, nor have I applied for a loan from anyone in the past 14 years. (I bought a car in 1999, small loan) Paid off my home loan in 1995.
So they have no justification for calling me. Meaning Illegal.
I also get a lot of landline calls and some junk mail about these loans, all in the past three weeks.

sarah 2013-04-02 17:44:19 Unknown
I missed a call from them, when looking up it is a number from discover home loans. Which I had requested mortgage information from them. To bad they called when I was at work, i have not had a chance to call them back, when I do though I will be calling them on their primary number, not calling them back on the one listed when they called me.

Calls and doesn't leave message.

It is Discover Home Loans. I called the number back and asked to be taken off the list. Hope it actually happens.
Ronald 2013-01-25 19:20:25 Unknown
I have received a call several time for the past 2 weeks. Each time I pick up I am hung up on and if I allow it to go to voice mail no messge is left.

It has been weeks since I checked Lending Tree for rates. I told many people I was no longer interested and to stop calling and emailing, etc... This website is a mistake, DO NOT USE IT for Rates.
Go somewhere else, anywhere else. I would expect the same result of putting my number up in a bathroom.

Discover Home loans, thought it was a mistake, but we are working with them. Annoying though, it rang then they hung up. I will let them know what happened.

missed the call, called them back and got "Thank you for calling Discover Home Loans..."

I have gotten 28 calls from these creeps in 3 days, despite my having asked repeatedly to be added to a do not contact list. They say they are Lending Tree, then Discover Home Loans, then two or three other companies. They are calling my cell phone and asking for someone I have never heard of. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T give them any personal info, as they are likely scammers.
I just filed a complaint with the FTC....

Lending Tree, quit calling me. Thank you to all who knew whose phone it was. I too was checking on refinancings.
PJ from San Diego 2012-09-18 04:25:02 Unknown
Thank you for that information. I was checking out refinancing information online, so that explains it. I have gotten calls from every lending institution out there...but never heard of them. Now I will block them with my cell phone service provider. Thanks again.
PJ 2012-09-18 03:48:55 Unknown
Another odd thing... Every time I enter this number in the search bar, an advertisement for "debt relief", or "credit repair" keeps coming up. Just an FYI. I hope this helps.
PJ 2012-09-18 03:46:34 Unknown
@Kara,
Have you ever had an account with Fifth Third Bank? I am curious, because I keep getting calls from this number, as well, and the only correlation that I can find is Fifth Third Bank. Maybe trying to sell you something? Let me know, because I am trying to pinpoint who owns this number as well.
Loan Holder 2012-09-14 20:03:27 Unknown
The phone number is from Discover Home Loans. They are calling in reference to (1) an outstanding loan that you currently have with them or (2) an application that is in process.

call from this number every day but no message or any one talks. I want this to stop its very annoying.
T Torwell 2012-07-06 20:23:03 Unknown
Either leave a message or don't call me any more. This is annoying and illegal!!!!
Ed 2012-07-06 17:06:50 Unknown
There are two ways to avoid the unwanted calls.
If you have a smart phone, there is an APP--Mr. Number that automatically blocks all numbers not on your contact list. The phone will ring once, and then hang up on the callers.
The other way is to go to your set up menu and set up the ringer as "silent."
Then assign unique rings to each person in your contact list that you want to receive calls from.
Takes time, but it works. I only receive calls from my wife and me daughter. My telephone is for me to make calls---not to have some one else call me up whenever they wish.

I get a lot of these as well, I don't answer and will erase it from caller ID thanks to you all !
Krang 2012-04-04 18:10:28 Unknown
I've been getting calls from this number DAILY for the past week or two. I pickup, no answer. If I don't pickup, no voicemail is left. If it is Lending Tree (which I believe it is), I already told them I'm not interested in anymore quotes, offers, etc. Uggghhh, super duper annoying!
