Yup, you are correct. I just finished a training program with Alberta Works and even received a letter from them stating that someone was going to call to conduct a survey. There was even a reference number on the letter.

The survey might not be done by them but it's NOT a scam and the survey is not mandatory.

I will rewrite this so it is easier for some to understand.
If you go on Alberta Works, as a student, learner etc.( as an adult) once you are done your studies, alberta works contacts you to do a survey evaluating your experiences on the Learners program.

This is not a fraudulent or scam type call!!! It is 'Leger Alberta' calling on behalf of Alberta Human Services. If you or the person they are calling participated in a program or any type of training that was funded by Alberta Human Services they are doing a survey to get your feedback regarding the program or training you received. It's a voluntary survey so you don't have to take part if you don't want to.

Some of the comments above claim that the number is from a research company. That cannot be possible as ethical research company would claim, or even imply that they are someone else.

An ethical research company should first identify themselves accurately before stating on whose behalf they are conducting research. Moreover, research firms generally do not identify who retained them to conduct a survey as this would only taint the results they obtain.

These calls are clearly fraudulent. I called this number back and left a message making it very clear that I knew they were attempting to defraud me, whether of resources or of information. I also advised Alberta Human Services of this attempted fraud and this link:

I encourage everyone reading this to advise Alberta Services of any fraudulent contact from this number.

Hi.  Saw your post, and wanted to share my experience and hope that you have some advice for me.  
I just got this call today at 1:36 p.m..  The number that came up on the phone was 1-780-702-1508.  
In the message, the lady said she was calling for me, that she was from Alberta Human Services,
and the number to call back was 1-888-618-7787, along with a Reference number to quote when I call  back.

I haven't called back, because I didn't recognize either number, and am not interested in any kind of scam!!

I am on medical Employment Insurance, which my doctor just extended from April 8 to July 8.  Have been on since December 2012 ( I just have to submit the Dr's. note before April 8/13).

i got a call from this number more then once last week while at work the hubby had the cell and answered and they said it was to confirm an appointment i have and gave him a file number. im not to sure what this is.

I called the number and they said their name is Leger Research/Marketing and they said they were hired by Alberta Employment & Immigration or AHS. to conduct a survey. It is not mandatory to call.

Today I called from Alberta Employment and Immigration and requested to contact by telephone 1-888-618-7787 and give the reference number. I read your comments and decided not to call back. Site Alberta Employment and Immigration is completely different contact information and phone numbers too.

weird number called i wasnt there to pick up to and had reference and extension did any of u get ext n refrerence number with it too

YA i got a call as well. and i called the ACTUAL employment and imm, they said they couldn't even reference that number! the ppl who called me said that i had used that service and needed to follow up? what the balls... has anyone actually talked to the people who are at 888-618-7787?

It might be a legit number but if it is, why is it every time I call I get Andrew and his voice mail? But not the woman who phones me at all hours of the day? Don't give out your personal information to any company other than Alberta Employment - it might be a legit company, but Ei should really be making the calls themselves!

Left a message for the guy who used to have the number I have now (post-secondary residence number). They are a company contracted by Alberta Employment and Immigration, NOT run by the government. They do follow-up questions and things like that. Legit number!

hi umm 1888 618 7787 is a research company and it is hired by alberta employement and immigration. you guys just missunderstood this and tought that call was from alberta employement when in fact it is ON BEHALF of alberta employement.

same withme.. someone calling for my daughter says they are with alberta employment services... odd. cant find number anywhere on gov of alberta website.

I received a call from this number today for my brother, and they said they were from Alberta Employment?? I am not too sure. i believe it is one of those groups of people who do fraudulent calling bc i cannot find the # elsewhere. plus, my brother has no idea why they would be trying to contact him, and when he has had to deal with them (Alberta Employment) in the past, they gave him a different #.
