I just received a text from 1-561-345-8924 saying that I won a cruise for 2 to the Bahamas and I'm to call 888-633-6685.

I have never applied for this drawing and am on the National do not call list.

I got this as well, but from a different number: 860-834-0057

They have enough boiler rooms there in India that pretend to be call centers, yeah right. If I find these freaks, I'll bust them open with their own computers.

They might just be able to reroute the call sort of thing, masking its origin.

Got the same text about an hour ago. It came from 516-430-8572.

Message:

"Exclusive offer: Your [number] has been chosen for a trip for 4 to disney, daytona resort for 7 days, 6 nights with purchase of car rental call: 888-633-6685"

Hmmm...it may have been a bit more believable if the grammar and capitalization errors didn't make it look as though it was written by a child in elementary school...

Of course, I Googled the number it's asking recipients to call, and found a few websites like this one where people are reporting it as a scam. I like to dig, so I visited the website listed by "Manian" in the previous comments and found out it is being run by a supposed company called "Preferred Guest Resorts." When I Googled the company name, this was the second link: <http://www.ripoffreport.com/directory/preferred-guest-resorts.aspx>. From what I read there, the people who have fallen for the scam have had their bank accounts drained in a matter of days. The company has multiple websites, so beware!

Got a text from 347-824-8148 referring to this phone number for a trip to Disney.

Got the same text 20 min. ago from 301 693-4853....

Got the same text, called the number and they said it doesn't include a flight,and that I would have to rent a car with them for 7 days in order to get a free stay for 6 nights and 7days at the Disney,daytona resort .the lady even referred me to a site,fltravelnow.com, when I told her this smelled fishy.

Just received the same message.  Tempted to call that 888 number and yell.  I could use some stress relief.

Same here and the SMS had been sent by this phone number:902-401-2083: Rogers Communications Partnership (Wireless).

Forgot to add that any text message originating from a (likely disposable) cell# in Halifax asking to call a business number in Montreal is kinda fishy. Maybe someone holding a grudge against the 888 owner wants them to be flooded with calls go figure

An industrial pump and chemical supplier... doesn't make much sense, it's not the type of business that would use such tactics. Unless their 888 number has been hijacked or recently disconnected I guess.
